A main object of the present invention is to provide an organic EL element which can ease damages of an organic EL layer upon formation of an electrode layer, and enables display of a high quality image. The present invention attains the above object by providing an organic electroluminescent element comprising: a substrate; a first electrode layer formed on the substrate; an organic electroluminescent layer which is formed on the first electrode layer, and has at least a light emitting layer; a semiconductor buffer layer which is formed on the organic electroluminescent layer, and contains an inorganic compound having a band gap of 2.0 eV or more and a metal; and a second electrode layer formed on the semiconductor buffer layer.

Organic electroluminescent element

An organic electroluminescent image display apparatus capable of displaying a high-quality image wherein light is taken out from a cathode layer side of an upper surface is described. The organic electroluminescent image display apparatus includes an anode layer, an organic layer, a barrier conductive layer having optical transparency, and a cathode layer having the optical transparency successively disposed on a substrate. The barrier conductive layer contains a metal, an inorganic nitride, and/or an inorganic oxide. Alternatively, the organic electroluminescent image display apparatus includes an anode layer, an organic layer, a first cathode layer having optical transparency, an electron transport protective layer having the optical transparency, and a second cathode layer having the optical transparency successively disposed on a substrate. The electron transport protective layer contains an alkali metal and/or an alkali earth metal in an electron transporting organic material.

Organic electroluminescent display

The invention relates to a hologram-recording dry plate fabrication process and system that can be used to fabricate a transmission or reflection hologram-recording dry plate particularly best suited for applications where high precision and high cleanliness are required. The hologram-recording dry plate comprises a substrate feeding means for feeding a substrate, a film feeding means for feeding a sheet-cut form of film having a separator, a separator releasing means for releasing the separator from the thus fed film, and a lamination means for laminating the film from which the separator is released on one surface of the thus fed substrate from the side of the film from which the separator is released.

Process and system of making hologram-recording dry plates

A viewing optical system for display devices or an image pickup optical system, which can be used with high efficiency at a plurality of wavelengths and enables bright images to be viewed with satisfactory color reproducibility and well-corrected aberrations. The optical system comprises a first prism, a second prism and a volume hologram element disposed between them and cemented to them. The hologram element comprises a first volume hologram optimized in such a way as to effect diffraction at least at a first wavelength and a second hologram optimized in such a way as to effect diffraction at a second wavelength different from the first wavelength. The first and second holograms are identical with each other in terms of the shape and spacing of interference fringes on their surfaces but different from each other in terms of the spacing and tilt of interference fringes in their hologram media.

Optical system and device using the same

The invention relates to a viewing and an image pickup optical system for display devices, which can be used with high efficiency at a plurality of wavelengths and enables bright images to be viewed with satisfactory color reproducibility. The optical system comprises a first prism , a second prism and a volume hologram element disposed between them and cemented to them. The hologram element comprises a first grating vector corresponding to at least a first wavelength and a second grating vector corresponding to a second wavelength shorter than the first wavelength. As the light beam comprising the first and second wavelengths passes through the hologram element , the component of the first wavelength transmits at a given angle of incidence in a region between a first &lgr;&thgr; continuous curved region in which the diffraction efficiency is 10% or greater as determined form the first grating vector and a second &lgr;&thgr; continuous curved region in which the diffraction efficiency is 10% or greater as determined from the second grating vector, and the component of the second wavelength transmits at a given angle of incidence in a region on a shorter wavelength side with respect to the &lgr;&thgr; continuous curved region.
