A power transmission belt having a body with a length, a width between laterally spaced sides, and a thickness between inside and outside surfaces. At least one load carrying member extends in a lengthwise direction. The body has a plurality of teeth spaced along at least one of the inside and outside of the body. The teeth have a width that decreases progressively from: a) a first location between the inside and outside surfaces; and b) one of the inside and outside surfaces so that the one surface has a width that is less than a width of the other surfaces. A cloth layer is applied to the one surface and is a multiwoven structure with interwoven: a) warp; and b) at least two different wefts.

Toothed power transmission belt

A power transmission belt has a body with a length, a width, an inside and an outside. The body has at least one load carrying member embedded in rubber and extending in a lengthwise direction. The body defines a plurality of teeth spaced along the length of the belt on at least one of the inside and outside of the body. At least one of: (a) the at least one load carrying member has an occupying rate (R) that is not less than 75%, with R=n&#xd7;Dc/B&#xd7;100 where: n=number of load carrying members aligned along the width of the body; Dc=diameter of load carrying member(s); and B=width of the body; and (b) the at least one load carrying member has a cross-sectional area taken transversely to the length of the body that is in a range of 1.10 to 1.70 mmper 1 mm of belt width.

A power transmission belt having a body with a length, an inside, and an outside. The body has a plurality of teeth formed on the inside of the body and spaced along the length of the body. The body has a first surface at the inside of the body defined at least in part by the teeth. A cloth component has a first side attached to the first surface and a second side exposed to engage a cooperating pulley. The cloth component has first fibers at the first side of the cloth component with a first performance characteristic and second fibers at the second side of the cloth component with a second performance characteristic. The first side of the cloth component has different properties than the second side of the cloth component by reason of the presence of the first and second fibers.
