Provided is a hair dyeing composition, containing a first part containing (a) a nitrogen-containing compound expressed by the general formula (1) or a salt thereof and a second part containing a component (b) of an oxidizing agent, wherein a pH upon use is 7.5 to 12, wherein Rand Rto Rrepresent H, a hydroxy group, and an alkyl group with C12 or less optionally having a substituent, Rrepresents a hydroxy group, &#x2014;R or &#x2014;OR, in which R means the same as Rto R, and two or more of Rto Rmay be taken together to form a 3 to 8 membered-ring optionally having a substituent.

A novel fluorine-containing compound having functions corresponding to those of fluorine is provided, which is stable under various conditions, excellent in compatibility with other solvents, and can be widely utilized as solvents, cosmetics, detergents, emulsifiers, surface finishing agents, lubricants, as well as lubricants or oils in the field of semiconductor/electronics. Ether compounds, which are useful as solvents, cosmetics, detergents, lubricants, emulsifiers and so on, are produced by reacting (a) a hydroxy compound with a carbonyl compound of (b) a carbonyl compound under hydrogen atmosphere in the presence of a catalyst with ease and at a low cost. The reaction is carried out while removing out produced water by using a dehydrating agent during the reaction; by distilling off the water by azeotropic dehydration and the like; or by blowing gases such as hydrogen gas to flow through the reaction system.
