An opening degree sensor produces a sensor output corresponding to a valve opening degree of a valve, and includes a memory into which the sensor output corresponding to the valve opening degree is written. When performing a first half process, flow rates of more than one valve device are measured, a flow rate error is calculated based on an average flow rate obtained by averaging the measured flow rates, and the sensor output corresponding to the valve opening degree into which the flow rate error is incorporated is obtained. When performing a second half process, the sensor output corresponding to the valve opening degree obtained in the first half process is written into the memory of the valve device whose flow rate is not measured.

Method for making valve device

An intake manifold is located on a downstream side of a throttle valve in an intake passage. A switching valve is placed on an upstream side of a connection between a communication conduit and an outlet of a lower portion of a surge tank of the intake manifold and is adapted to open or close the communication conduit. A control device controls the switching valve to open or close the switching valve. The control device closes the switching valve when an operational state of an engine is in one of idling time, accelerating driving time and high speed driving time of a vehicle, and the control device opens the switching valve when the operational state of the internal combustion engine is in decelerating driving time of the vehicle.

Air intake apparatus for vehicle

An intake manifold to be mounted to a traverse engine includes pieces made of resin and welded to each other. The pieces are constructed with a first piece having a connector to be connected to the engine, and a second piece. The second piece has an upper positioning part overlapping with the first piece except for the connector having a linear-shaped outlet passage. The upper positioning part is welded to the first piece so as to define an upstream side passage of the outlet passage. The first piece has a cover, which covers the upper positioning part defining a downstream end of the upstream side passage.

Intake manifold

An intake manifold is provided with partitions which divide the lower space formed under opening ends. An intake air is prevented from flowing into the lower space by the partitions. Since the intake air can be efficiently suctioned to each opening ends, pressure loss of the intake air can be reduced.

Intake manifold with reinforcing partitions

In a variable air induction apparatus, a valve element is switched between one side to open a first air intake passage and close a second air intake passage, and the other side to open the second air intake passage and to close the first air intake passage. The first air intake passage and the second air intake passage have lengths different from each other. The valve element is fixed on a shaft member to rotate integrally with the shaft. A driving device applies a driving force to rotate the shaft member. An urging device urges the shaft member to rotate the valve element to be switched to any one of the one side and the other side.

Variable air induction apparatus

In an intake manifold, a resin intake air introduction portion has a semicircular lower intake pipe, a volume chamber and joints provided in the volume chamber at opposite sides and along an axis of the lower intake pipe. An aluminum intake air distribution portion has a semicircular upper intake pipe, which is combined with the lower intake conduit to constitute an intake conduit, and distribution pipes extending alternately in opposite directions so as to cross an axis of the upper intake pipe. The aluminum intake air distribution portion overlaps the resin intake air introduction portion on a side opposite to the engine. Each end of the distribution pipes is connected to the joints and each another end thereof is fixed to the engine. The lower intake pipe is provided in an axial center thereof with a communication bore through which intake air is supplied from the intake conduit via the volume chamber, the joints and the distribution pipes to the engine.

An air induction unit is composed of an air filter, a resinous intake manifold for inducting air filtered by the air filter into intake ports of the engine, a resinous case and a resinous cap. The air filter, intake manifold and fuel injectors are disposed inside the resinous case and the resinous cap. The resinous case and the resinous cap have respectively double-wall structure composed of inside walls and outside walls and noise-and-heat-insulation members between the inside walls and the outside walls.

Air induction unit for internal combustion engine

A noise control apparatus has a thermal-type air flow meter for detecting engine load, an engine speed sensor for detecting engine speed, and an intake temperature sensor for detecting intake temperature. The engine load is detected based on the surging components of the signal from the air flow meter. An intake pipe is provided with a speaker that produces a noise control wave in accordance with a control signal from a controller. The controller has a memory that stores map data for noise control waves that are equal in sound pressure but opposite in phase with respect to intake noise. The map data regarding sound pressure and phase correspond to the engine load and speed on the basis of a reference temperature. A CPU of the controller computes a map-reading engine speed value based on a wavelength of intake noise that is determined based on intake temperature and engine speed, such that the map-reading engine speed value provides at the reference temperature substantially the same wavelength as that of the intake noise. The CPU generates a noise control wave signal based on the map-reading engine speed value and engine load information.
