An illuminant device designed to activate a light source selectively in a plurality of lighting modes. The illuminant device includes a plurality of circuit boards having thermal conductivity and a plurality of lighting circuits each of which is operable to activate the light source in a selected one of the lighting modes. The lighting circuits are mounted on the circuit boards so that when the light source is being activated, the circuit boards will be different in temperature thereof from each other due to heat generated in at least one of the lighting circuits which is activating the light source. The illuminant device also includes a connector which couples the lighting boards together to transfer the heat therebetween, thereby enhancing the dissipation of the heat.

A lighting control apparatus for a vehicle is provided which works to diagnose a malfunction of a light source which includes a plurality of lighting devices such as LEDs and emits light outside the vehicle. The lighting control apparatus determines a state of the vehicle. When the light source is determined to be malfunctioning, the lighting control apparatus operates the light source in one of predetermined warning lighting modes which is selected based on the state of the vehicle. This attracts a vehicle user's attention to the malfunctioning light source.

Lighting control apparatus with diagnosis and warning feature

A light ECU in a light control device performs a display process of obtaining speed limit information at a current position of the driver's vehicle on a road and of instructing a pixel light system to display the speed limit information on the surface of the road. The light control device can project the speed limit information for the drivers vehicle onto the road. Further, the light control device judges whether or not the vehicle speed information is not less than a predetermined reference speed, and performs the process of displaying the vehicle speed information on the road only when the vehicle speed information is not less than a predetermined reference speed. The above control process displays the vehicle speed information on the road only when necessary, allows the driver of the vehicle only to recognize important information, and provides the driver of the vehicle with safer driving conditions.

Display control device

In a light chamber formed by a housing case and a lens cover of a headlamp assembly, a projection lens and a light source are arranged in order along an optical axis of the light source from a front side of the light chamber. Radiating fins of a plate shape is vertically placed in the light chamber and radiate heat energy generated by the light source. A heat exchange chamber is formed in a ceiling wall of the housing case above the radiating fins. The heat exchange chamber has a concave shape from the ceiling wall of the housing case, and is open toward the radiating fins side.

Headlamp assembly for motor vehicle

An apparatus is provided to control an angle of a light axis of light from headlights mounted on a vehicle. In the apparatus, images of a field of view in front of the vehicle are captured, and the captured images are used to detect taillights of a preceding vehicle. A illumination target position is set by using, as a positional reference, a position of the detected taillights in the captured images, and the angle of the light axis so that the light axis is directed to the illumination target position. The command is provided to an angle changing device, where the provided command depends on the angle calculated. The angle changing device changes the direction of the light axis of the light at an angle commanded by the command.

Apparatus for controlling direction of light from on-vehicle headlights

In a system for controlling a headlight of a vehicle to be controlled, a distance detector detects a distance between the controlled vehicle and an other vehicle ahead thereof. A determiner determines a first target direction for an optical axis of the headlight in a vertical direction when it is assumed that the optical axis of the headlight passes through a target located at the detected distance with respect to the controlled vehicle. The target has a predetermined height above a predetermined reference point. The predetermined height of the target is unchanged irrespective of change in the detected distance. A first adjuster adjusts the direction of the optical axis of the headlight in the vertical direction so that the direction of the optical axis is matched with the determined first target direction.

In a system for controlling a headlight of a vehicle to be controlled, a dazzling level determiner determines a parameter value of a dazzling level of a driver of an other vehicle ahead of the controlled vehicle based on information associated with a relative positional relationship between the controlled vehicle and the other vehicle. The dazzling level represents a possibility that the driver of the other vehicle feels dazzling to light irradiated from the headlight of the controlled vehicle. A light-quantity adjuster adjusts a quantity of light to be irradiated from the headlight of the controlled vehicle based on the determined parameter value of the dazzling level.

A vehicle headlight apparatus receives road data from a navigation system. The apparatus has a first and a second swivel devices for adjusting an optical axis directions of a main light and a sub-light corresponding to one and the other headlights of a right and a left headlights, respectively. The apparatus also has a control unit, which separately controls the first and the second swivel devices, so that a one-eye navigation-cooperated control operation can be carried out which adjusts only the optical axis direction of the main light to be coincident with a road direction calculated based upon the road data.

The vehicle light control system includes a light device emitting an illumination light around an object vehicle on which the vehicle light control system is mounted, an information obtaining device obtaining integrated information including at least vehicle information indicating a behavior of the object vehicle, a control unit including an illumination target candidate setting function of setting a plurality of illumination target candidates which a driver of the object vehicle should pay attention on the basis of the integrated information, the plurality of the illumination target candidates being given a risk degree respectively, and a determination function of selecting an illumination target from among the plurality of the illumination target candidates on the basis of the risk degree, and an actuator device controlling the light device such that the illumination light is emitted in a direction of the illumination target.

Vehicle light control system

A security system includes a position detecting device, a sensing device, and a notifying device. The position detecting device detects a position of a vehicle. The sensing device senses a moving object that moves around the vehicle. The sensing device is mounted in the vehicle. The notifying device provides a notification when the position of the vehicle, which is detected by the position detecting device, indicates that the vehicle is parked at a predetermined position, and when the sensing means senses that the moving object is located in a predetermined range from the vehicle.

A control unit of a vehicular headlamp apparatus can selectively perform steering angle control and navigation-cooperative control. The steering angle control operates a drive mechanism based on a steering angle and a speed of a vehicle to control a headlamp's swivel angle. The navigation-cooperative control operates the drive mechanism using a navigation unit to control the swivel angle. When a current position of the vehicle reaches an entry control start point, the control unit starts navigation-cooperative control at the entry into a curved road. The control unit finds a target swivel angle based on a curvature radius and curved road direction information about the curved road. While the vehicle moves from the entry control start point to a curved road start point, the control unit operates the drive mechanism to gradually change the headlamp's swivel angle to the target swivel angle.

Vehicular headlamp apparatus

A lamp's optical axis control system for a vehicle includes vehicle speed sensor, steering angle sensor, a circuit for calculating driver's viewpoint and a controller for controlling the optical axis according to the position of the driver's view point. The controller indicates the position of the driver's viewpoint a certain time in advance according to the vehicle speed signal and the steering angle signal. Therefore, the illumination range of the headlamps can timely provides a desirable driver's view point.

Vehicle headlamp optical axis control system

A head lamp's optical axis control system for a vehicle includes a vehicle speed sensor, steering angle sensor, a navigator, an actuator for swiveling the optical axis, a first control circuit for controlling the actuator to swivel the optical axis according to the vehicle speed signal and the steering angle thereby providing a first illumination range and a second control circuit for controlling the actuator to swivel the optical axis according to the vehicle speed and the front road-shape presented by the navigator thereby providing a second illumination range. If it is judged that the front road-shape is not covered by the first illumination range beforehand, the second control circuit controls the actuator to cover the road-shape by the second illumination range.

A headlamp's optical axis control system for a vehicle includes a infrared light camera for detecting an object on a road in front of the vehicle and a headlamp's optical axis actuator. The headlamp's optical axis is changed according to a vehicle speed and position of the object relative to the vehicle so that the illumination range of the headlamp can cover the object if the object is judged to be out of the illumination range.
