According to one embodiment, a disk device includes an arm with a through hole, a base plate, a load beam, and a damper. The arm has a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The base plate has a first protrusion in the through hole. The load beam is attached to the base plate and has a fourth surface and a fifth surface opposite the fourth surface. The first surface and the fourth surface faces one magnetic disk. The fifth surface is inclined so as to be closer to the one magnetic disk as is further away from the arm. The damper is attached to the fifth surface. A value obtained by dividing a first distance between the first surface and the second surface by a second distance between an end of the damper and an axis of the through hole is 0.11 or less.

According to one embodiment, a disk device includes a housing including a base with a bottom wall, a drive motor including a pivot erected on the bottom wall and a hub rotatably supported around the pivot, ten or more magnetic disks attached to the hub and stacked on a flange of the hub, and spacer rings attached to the hub and each disposed between each respective adjacent pair of two magnetic disks. A number of the spacer rings is one less than the magnetic disks. At least one spacer ring has a thickness different from that of the other spacer rings, and a difference between a maximum thickness and a minimum thickness of the spacer rings is 0.01 mm or more and 0.09 mm or less.

According to one embodiment, a suspension assembly includes a support plate including a distal end portion and a proximal end portion, a wiring member including a gimbal portion and provided on the support plate, and a magnetic head on the gimbal portion. According to one embodiment, a disk device includes a disk-shaped recording medium, a head which processes data on the recording medium, and a housing accommodating the recording medium and the head. The housing includes a base with a side wall, and a cover having a welded portion welded to the side wall by laser welding. The welded portion includes a first welded portion welded to a first region of the side wall and having weld beads with a first shape, and a second welded portion welded to a second region of the side wall and having welded beads with a second shape different from the first shape.

According to one embodiment, a disk device comprises a plurality of rotatable magnetic disks, a first actuator assembly, and a second actuator assembly. A slit provided in each of arms of the first actuator assembly is provided to be offset in a direction spaced away from a border plane between actuator assemblies with respect to a center of the arm in its thickness direction. A connection end portion of a wiring member is partially located in the slit, such as to be offset in a direction spaced away from the border plane, and disposed on a wiring board, and joined to the wiring board.

According to one embodiment, a method of manufacturing a lift tab of a suspension assembly, includes: forming a first mask on a first surface of a plate-shaped base material; forming a second mask smaller than the first mask by a width less than or equal to a plate thickness of the base material, on a second surface of the base material, which is on an opposite side to the first surface, to oppose the first mask; etching the base material from both surface sides through the first mask and the second mask, to cut out the base material; and subjecting the cut-out base material to a bending process to form the lift tab.
