The invention provides a terminal-mounting structure for mounting a terminal to a terminal-receiving portion, which includes the terminal and the terminal-receiving portion. The terminal includes an elongated plate-shaped connecting portion, a pair of wings extending from both edges of the connecting portion which are disposed in a width direction of the connecting portion and being perpendicular to the connecting portion, and a locking hole formed in the connecting portion and located between the pair of wings. The terminal-receiving portion includes a tube portion for receiving the terminal therein, and a lance capable of being locked to the locking hole of the terminal and positioned between the pair of wings. A front face of the connecting portion is not covered by the pair of wings at all. The pair of wings extends in a same direction.

An insulative internal resin cover is provided to partition an internal space of upper and lower insulative resin covers into a wire receiving space and an element receiving space. A wire-side terminal is provided at an intermediate portion of a wire, and is electrically connected to a conductor of the wire. When the intermediate portion of the wire is located in the wire receiving space, the wire-side terminal is inserted from the wire receiving space into the element receiving space through a terminal insertion hole formed in the internal resin cover, and is connected to a circuit including an element received in the element receiving space.

In an optical connector, a sleeve is located between an optical fiber 6 and a light receiving/transmitting module 4 and makes an optical connection therebetween. The sleeve has a light guiding passage which is tapered from the optical fiber toward the light receiving/transmitting module, thereby forming a conical shape with its sloped side wall. The end face having a reduced diameter of the light-guiding passage 26 thus formed is arranged oppositely to the light receiving/transmitting module.

In a cap for an optical connector, light-receiving/emitting modules are inserted in a housing body, and the cap is attached to the housing body, so that the light-receiving/emitting modules are fixed by the cap. Protuberances are formed on the cap, and project in an attaching direction so as to be abutted against the light-receiving/emitting modules to prevent the light-receiving/emitting modules from being displaced out of position. The protuberances have elasticity. Opposite ends of each of the protuberances may be cut off at an acute angle, so that a distal end of the protuberance is substantially pointed.
