A porous silica particle optimized as the scrubbing agent is used for a cleansing cosmetic. The porous silica particle has an average circularity of 0.1 to 0.5, a pore volume of 1.0 to 2.0 ml/g, a mode diameter of 50 to 600 &#x3bc;m, and a ratio of the maximum particle diameter to the mode diameter of 3.0 or less. The porous silica particle moreover has a median size of 0.5 to 25 &#x3bc;m and the maximum particle diameter of 1 to 100 &#x3bc;m, after rubbing with a load of 1.0 to 1.4 KPa for 30 seconds. With the cleansing cosmetic containing this particle, the skin is rubbed by the frictional force generated by the friction with the skin at the rubbing. Therefore, the mild peeling effect for the stratum corneum is obtained and the damage of the skin and the micro damage on the stratum corneum can be prevented.

Porous silica particle and cleansing cosmetic

A porous silica particle with the small specific surface area and large pore volume, which is contained as the scrubbing agent in the cleansing cosmetics is provided. The porous silica particle has high collapsibility, and therefore the damage of the skin can be prevented. A porous silica particle according to the present invention has: an average circularity of 0.1 to 0.5; a pore volume of 0.1&#x2266;Pv&#x3c;1.0 ml/g; a specific surface area of 5 to 60 m/cm; a median size of 100 to 1000 &#x3bc;m; a ratio of a maximum particle diameter to the median size, of 3.0 or less; and a median size of 5 to 40 &#x3bc;m and a maximum particle diameter of 15 to 200 &#x3bc;m, after rubbing for 30 seconds with a load of 1.0 to 1.4 KPa.

Porous silica particle, method for producing the same, and cleansing cosmetic containing the same

An object of the present invention is to provide a porous silica particle with the small specific surface area and the large pore volume, a method for producing the same, and a cosmetic containing the porous silica particle with such characteristics as the texture improver. The porous silica particle according to the present invention has a structure sparsely packed with silica microparticles. The mean particle diameter is 0.5 to 25 &#x3bc;m, the specific surface area measured by the BET method is 5 to 60 m/cm, and the pore volume is 0.35 to 2.0 ml/g. In the pore size distribution of the porous silica particles (X axis: pore diameter, Y axis: value obtained by differentiating the pore volume by the pore diameter), the most frequent pore diameter (D) satisfies 100&#x3c;D&#x3c;4000 [nm].

Disclosed are porous silica-based particles having high surface smoothness, a method for producing the porous silica-based particles, and a cosmetic comprising the porous silica-based particles. The porous silica-based particles have an average particle diameter of 0.5 to 30 &#x3bc;m and have a surface smoothness of a level to such an extent that, when the entire surface of the particle is observed from a photograph thereof taken by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) with a magnifying power of 10,000, a foreign matter attached to the surface thereof can be hardly seen.

The powder is constituted by a scale-like base material, a group of particles including titanium dioxide particles deposited on a part of a surface of the scale-like base material, and a thin film of a composite oxide containing titanium and iron coating part of the surface of the scale-like base material.

This invention provides cosmetics containing a multi-functional composite powder having the properties of (a) an excellent adhesiveness, (b) an excellent extendability, (c) an appropriate glossy effect, (d) a homogeneous cosmetic film, (e) an appropriate covering capability, (f) a cosmetic film not causing a white masking, (g) a high compatibility between a color appearance of cosmetics and a color tone of the cosmetic film, (h) an excellent soft-focusing capability, (i) an excellent ultraviolet protective effect, and the like. The multi-functional composite powder is constituted by a scale-like base material, a group of particles comprising at least fine particles of titanium dioxide deposited on a surface of the scale-like base material, and a thin film of a composite oxide containing titanium and iron coated thereon.
