A wireless communicator includes network processors transmitting data to and receiving data from respective different networks; a media access control (MAC) setter receiving pieces of information on a MAC layer from the plurality of network processors and storing the pieces of information on the MAC layer; and a MAC processor performing operations on media access control on the basis of the pieces of information stored in the MAC setter. In the wireless communicator, the network processors supply a frame signal containing network identification information corresponding to the respective network processors to the MAC processor. Thus, it is possible to provide a wireless communicator which can give a notice to every network processor even when broadcast frames are received and which can make a reply even when beacon request command frames are received.

There is provided a wireless communication apparatus capable of using a first MAC protocol and a second MAC protocol including one wireless communication unit. A network includes nodes that transmit information to each other. Some nodes operate intermittently; other nodes operate continuously. Information is transmitted to an intermittently operating node by a handshaking protocol in which the intermittently operating node indicates that it is ready to receive. Information is transmitted to a continuously operating node without such handshaking, thereby saving time and power. Each transmitting node has a memory storing information indicating which other nodes require handshaking.

A radio communications apparatus includes a network position detector for detecting information on the position of the communication device on a radio telecommunications network, a network connection detector for detecting the disengagement of the device from the network, and a controller for controlling the transmission timing of join signals. The controller is adapted to vary a transmission timeout period, upon expiring of which a join signal is sent out, depending on the information about the positions on the network. The radio communications device is thus able to decrease the probability of occurrence of collision to thereby reduce the time taken for reestablishing the network.

It is thus possible to avoid radiowave interference while saving electric power and lowering delay.

An object of this invention is to avoid interfering from a radio LAN transmission unit and being interfered. This invention relates a radio transmission unit for transmitting according to a second radio transmission system which transmits/receives data signal under the same frequency band as first radio transmission system in which prior to transmitting of the data signal, a transmitting station transmits a transmission request signal while a reception station receiving this RTS sends back a reception preparation completion signal. This radio transmission unit comprises CTS transmitting means for transmitting CTS according to the first radio transmission system and a duration setting circuit for setting a duration time to be overlaid on the CTS, and prior to transmitting according to the second radio transmission system, the duration time set by the duration setting circuit is overlaid on the reception preparation completion signal according to the first radio transmission system.

Interference avoiding radio transmission unit

A lock is operated by a lock controller that receives identifying signals transmitted from one or more wireless key devices. Weights are assigned to the identifying signals, and the lock is operated only if the weights of the received identifying signals satisfy a condition, such as a threshold condition applied to their sum. The weights are preferably assigned by counting the number of times each identifying signal is registered in the lock controller. The count may be kept in the lock controller or in the wireless key device itself.
