A gas sensor includes a gas sensor element for detecting a specific gas concentration in measured gas. The gas sensor element includes a solid electrolyte, a measured gas side electrode into which measured gas is introduced through a porous diffusion resistance layer, a reference gas side electrode facing a reference gas chamber, and a diffusion space portion between the porous diffusion resistance layer and the measured gas side electrode. The porous diffusion resistance layer has a measured gas inlet opened to an element outer surface and a measured gas outlet opened to the diffusion space portion. A relationship between a distance between the inlet and the outlet and a distance between the outlet and the measured gas side electrode is expressed by 0&#x3c;L/(L+L)&#x3c;0.4.

Gas sensor

A gas sensor includes a sensor element having a detecting portion; an insulator supporting the sensor element inserted therethrough; a housing supporting the insulator; an inner cover covering the detecting portion; and an outer cover covering the inner cover. An inner flange portion of the inner cover and the outer flange portion of the outer cover are supported between the insulator and the housing. An end face of the inner flange portion is positioned towards outer side Rwith respect to the radial direction R than the position of an end face of the outer flange portion. A corner portion between the end face and a surface in the outer flange portion protrudes into a surface of the inner flange portion.

A gas sensor is provided with a sensor element having a detecting portion; an insulator supporting the sensor element in a state where the detecting portion is protruded therefrom, the sensor element being inserted through the insulator; a housing supporting the insulator; an inner cover covering the detecting portion; and an outer cover covering the inner cover. An inner flange portion of the inner cover and an outer flange portion of the outer cover are supported between the insulator and the housing. A protrusion is formed on a corner portion facing the insulator, the protrusion contacting with the insulator. An end face of the outer flange portion is positioned radially closer to an outer side with respect to a radial direction, than a position of an end face of the inner flange portion.

Single-sided conductor patterned films are prepared, each of which has a conductor pattern formed only one side of a resin film and via hole filled with conductive paste. A single-sided conductor patterned film which has a conductor pattern formed only one side of a resin film and an opening formed in the resin film so as to expose an electrode is laminated on the single-sided conductor patterned films. Moreover, a cover layer with an opening to expose an electrode is laminated on a bottom surface of the single-sided conductor patterned films to form a laminate. Then, by pressing while heating the laminate, a multilayer substrate having the electrodes at both sides thereof can be produced.

A method of forming a separation groove and a ditch for cutting a thermoplastic resin sheet by a laser beam is performed as follows. A heat-resistant layer made of thermosetting resin is printed on the rear surface of the resin sheet along the line of the ditch to be formed by the laser beam. A laser beam is radiated on the front surface of the resin sheet and scanned along the line of the ditch and the separation groove. The laser beam melts and evaporates resin and forms the ditch and the separation groove. Since the rear end of the ditch is covered by the heat-resistant layer, the resin sheet is not completely separated along the ditch line, while it is separated along the separation groove line. At the final stage, the resin sheet is cut along the ditch line. A flexible circuit sheet for making electrical connection can be easily and cost effectively processed in this laser beam process.
