A connector-incorporating plug contains a connector to be inserted into and connected to an adapter in a receptacle and is connected to the receptacle. The connector-incorporating plug includes a housing that is located at a back-end side of the connector in a direction of insertion, to hold the connector, a spring pressing the housing in the direction of insertion, a holder that is located in front of a flange portion formed on the housing and that is mounted to the housing, and a shell member. The holder is pressed by the spring through the flange portion to butt against a projection formed on the inner wall of the shell member, and is kept there. The housing is movable with respect to the holder only along a first axis orthogonal to the direction of insertion. The holder is movable with respect to the shell member only along a crossing axis.

Connector-incorporating plug

In an optical-connector-incorporating plug accommodating and holding an optical connector in a barrel at a front end thereof and accommodating, in the barrel, an extra length portion of an optical fiber extending from an optical cable to the optical connector, the extra length portion bends as the optical connector is moved toward a back end of the barrel when the optical connector is connected to a mating receptacle; the distance from the position where the optical connector is held to the outer wall of the barrel depends on the direction, among the directions orthogonal to the direction in which the optical connector is moved; and a guide portion guiding the bend of the extra length portion in a direction other than the direction where the distance to the outer wall of the barrel is the shortest is formed in the barrel. The optical-connector-incorporating plug can be reduced in size.

Optical-connector-incorporating plug

A plug including main optical connector bodies, a housing for securing and holding the main optical connector bodies on the connecting end side thereof, a cylindrical inner shell surrounding the housing and attached to the housing by screwing a threaded hole formed in a rear wall portion thereof onto a thread formed in the outer periphery of the housing, and a cylindrical outer shell surrounding the inner shell and having a thread formed in the inner periphery thereof on the connecting end side and a step portion formed in the inner periphery on the rear end side thereof, the thread being screwed onto the thread of an enclosure shell. When the plug is coupled to a receptacle, the inner shell is rotated with respect to the housing and the connecting end of the inner shell hits the abutment surface of the enclosure shell and, when the outer shell is screwed onto the enclosure shell, the step portion hits the rear wall portion. This plug can be coupled properly to the receptacle by accommodating variations in the position of the mating optical connector housed in the receptacle and can be reduced in size.

Plug and optical connector connecting structure

Optical adapter

An optical connector is selectively attachable to one of optical fiber cables including a first type optical fiber cable and a second type optical fiber cable. Each of the optical fiber cables includes a common optical fiber and a common ferrule fixed to the common optical fiber. The first type optical fiber cable further includes a tension member. The second type optical fiber cable further including a tensile member. The optical connector has a swage portion through which the common ferrule is inserted forward when one of the optical fiber cables is attached to the optical connector. The swage portion has an outer surface on which the tensile member is swaged when the second type optical fiber cable is attached to the optical connector. The optical connector also has a fixing portion having at least one receiver hole formed therein for receiving and fixing an end of the tension member of the first type optical fiber cable. The fixing portion is located forward of the swage portion.

Optical connector and optical connector cable

A stopperis fixed to an optical connector, and the optical connectoris accommodated in an opening sectionof a housing. The housingis engaged with the stopperso as to be displaceable with respect to the stopperby a predetermined amount in a direction of inserting the optical connectorto a receptacle, and the stopperis biased rearward by a coil springwith respect to the housing. The free end of a clip pieceis placed on the free end of a latch pieceof the optical connector, and the free end of the clip pieceis placed on an inclination surfaceat the front end of a concave sectionformed on an inner wall surface of the opening section. At the time of detachment from the receptacle, the housingis displaced in a direction to be pulled out against the biasing force of the coil spring. Accordingly, the clip pieceand the latch pieceare pushed down by the inclination surfaceto release the lock of the latch piece. The detachment from the receptacle can be made in one motion.

Optical connector plug

An optical connector device has a first connector including a ferrule for holding an optical fiber and a guide portion projecting longer than the ferrule. The optical connector device also has a second connector for receiving an end of the ferrule along an optical axis of the optical fiber. The second connector includes a receiver for receiving the guide portion and a shutter having a cover part. The shutter is movable between a cover position at which the optical axis intersects the cover part and an open position at which the optical axis does not intersect the cover part. The guide portion is operable to move the shutter from the cover position to the open position when the guide portion is received into the receiver.

Optical connector device

An optical component is improved in workability during assembly operation thereof and makes it possible to easily position an optical fiber. A first ferrule is press-fitted into one end of a central hole of a connecting member, and a second ferrule is press-fitted into the other end of the central hole of the connecting member. An optical fiber is inserted through the first and second ferrules. A coating which coats an intermediate portion of the optical fiber of an optical fiber cord is accommodated in a communicating portion of the central hole of the connecting member in a manner such that the coating is brought into abutment with the first and second ferrules.

Optical component and adapter including the same

In an optical connection component for use in connecting a connection object having a key formed on one side surface thereof, a housing for fitting over the connection object is formed around an optical axis. A shutter member is coupled to the housing and includes a light shielding portion which is elastically deformable and extends across the optical axis. The housing includes a key groove portion for receiving the key and an escape groove portion adapted to receive the light shielding potion in an elastically deformed state.

Optical connection component which has a shutter member and which can be reduced in size

An optical connector included a ferrule defining an optical axis and a holding member holding the ferrule. The ferrule includes a flange portion having a positioned portion. The holding member includes a first and a second beam portions faced to each other, a third beam portion adjacent to the first and the second beam portions, and a fourth beam portion faced to the third beam portion. At least one of the first and the second beam portions has elasticity. At least one of the third and the fourth beam portions has elasticity. At least one of the first and the second beam portions includes a contacting portion contacted with the flange portion in an optical axis direction and holding the ferrule. At least one of the third and the fourth beam portions includes a positioning portion engaged with the positioned portion to prevent the ferrule from being rotated.

Optical connector excellent in maintenance of a connected state

An optical connector apparatus includes a first connector having a first connecting portion adapted to be connected to and disconnected from a first connecting object in a first direction, a second connector which has a second connecting portion adapted to be connected to a second connection object and which is coupled to the first connector, and an optical fiber connected between the first and the second connectors. The first connector includes a first ferrule having an end portion formed at a position corresponding to the first connecting portion and having a first outer diameter. The second connector includes a second ferrule having an end portion formed at a position corresponding to the second connecting portion and having a second outer diameter greater than the first outer diameter. The optical fiber is coupled to the first and the second ferrules.

Optical connector apparatus suitable for interconnection between different-diameter ferrules

In an optical connector having a housing defining an area surrounding a connection axis of the optical connector, the housing has a pair of slits spaced from each other and defining an elastic portion therebetween. A protruding portion protrudes from the elastic portion outward in a radial direction of the housing. A mounting portion is faced to the protruding portion with a space left therebetween.

Optical connector improved in mountability without an increase in number of components

In a receptacle-type optical connector to be connected to a plug-type optical connector connected to an optical fiber terminated by the use of a ferrule, use is made of a base shell, a front shell, and an intermediate shell which is interposed between the base shell and the front shell. The base shell has a core coupling portion for coupling a core of the optical fiber. The front shell has an opening which is shaped in conformity with a plug shape of the plug-type optical connector. The intermediate shell is partly fitted to the base shell. The intermediate shell has a cylindrical protrusion which is shaped in conformity with the ferrule and which is inserted into the opening.

In an optical connector adapter for use in connecting first and second optical connectors to each other, the optical connector adapter includes a shell member which has a wall portion defining an opening and which receives the first optical connector. The opening is received with an insert member adapted to guide the second optical connector. The insert member includes a flange portion extending outward in a radial direction. The flange portion has an extending end face faced to the wall portion, an engaging portion formed on the extending end face, and a slit allowing the engaging portion to be movable away from the wall portion. The wall portion has an engaged portion to be engaged with the engaging portion of the flange portion.
