The mass spectrometer includes an ionization unit that ionizes a sample; a nozzle unit having an inflow port that is connected to the ionization unit by a flow pipe and through which the ionized sample flows, and an outflow port from which the sample flowing in flows out; a vacuum chamber that is evacuated by vacuum evacuation means and into which the sample flows from the nozzle unit; a mass analysis unit that is located downstream of a flow of the sample relative to the vacuum chamber and that selects ions from the sample; and an ion detection unit that detects the ions selected by the mass analysis unit, wherein a division portion that divides a flow of the sample is provided inside the nozzle unit, and the division portion has a tapered projection whose diameter decreases toward the outflow port.

Acceleration of decelerated ions and a reduction in the velocity dispersion width of decelerated ions are both achieved, whereby the sensitivity of detected ion sensitivity is improved and resolution is improved. The distance dx between at least one set of facing rod-shaped electrodes among rod-shaped electrodes (--) to (--) differs at the inlet part at which ions enter and the outlet part at which ions exit, and the distance dx between the at least one set of facing rod-shaped electrodes is gradually reduced or increased from the inlet part toward the outlet part.

Mass spectrometer

An object of the invention is to provide a mass spectrometry device and an ion detection method therefor in which an ion amount can be detected with high accuracy. In order to achieve the object described above, a mass spectrometry device is provided which performs a channel scan measurement by changing a voltage to be applied to a mass separation unit to selectively extract a desired ion. The mass spectrometry device includes: an ion detection unit which detects an ion separated by the mass separation unit and outputs an electric signal; an ion amount measuring unit which measures an ion amount from the output of the ion detection unit; and an ion amount correction unit which corrects a detection amount of ion from an output of the ion amount measuring unit. In a process of a channel scan, the ion amount correction unit performs correction of a detection amount of ion detected in a present channel based on a detection amount of ion in a previous channel.

Mass spectrometry device and ion detection method therefor

An object of the invention is to provide a mass spectrometer system capable of obtaining a mass spectrum with high resolution as the mass number of an ion becomes higher. In the mass spectrometer system of the invention, a control unitcontrols a mass spectrometry unitso that a direct current voltage U, an amplitude V of a radio-frequency voltage, and a frequency F of the radio-frequency voltage, which are applied to a quadrupole electrode, are increased as a mass-to-charge ratio m/z of an ion of a target for mass spectrometry becomes larger. By controlling in this manner, the ion frequency when the ion passes through the inside of the mass spectrometry unitis increased as the mass number of an ion becomes higher, and therefore, it is possible to obtain the mass spectrum with higher resolution.

With regard to an object of the invention, in a tandem type mass spectrometry system including three stages of a QMS, sensitivity of a daughter ion decreases due to loss resulting from destabilization of the daughter ion or a decrease in daughter ion generation rate, and an improvement insensitivity of the daughter ion is a significant issue. To solve the above-mentioned problem, the invention provides a mass spectrometry system having means of decreasing a q value of a parent ion and not decreasing a fundamental vibration frequency of the parent ion. According to the means of the invention, the invention may have effects that a mass number range of a daughter ion that may be stably transmitted is expanded, the number of vibrations of a parent ion is substantially the same as that in a first stage of the QMS, and generation efficiency of the daughter ion does not decrease and can be maintained.

Mass spectrometry device

The objective of the presently disclosed subject matter is to provide a mass spectrometer that improves the ionic permeability ratio at the entrance to an ion transport part or the entrance to a mass spectrometry part, and to acquire a high-sensitivity mass spectrum. To reduce the electric-field distortion that is caused by ion loss, electrodes are arranged so that the radius of a circle inscribed within the electrodes of the ion transport part is larger than the radius of a circle inscribed within the electrodes of the mass spectrometry part. The entrance to the electrodes of the mass spectrometry part also can have a tapered, inclined, folded-over, or rounded configuration. Together, these reduce the sharply fluctuating (peak-shaped) distribution of electric potential generated near the entrance to the ion transport part and the entrance to the mass spectrometry part.

This invention improves the sensitivity of a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry device by reducing the number of neutral particles that are not ionized during ionization and the number of low-molecular ions from a solvent used in the liquid chromatography. Said liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry device is provided with ion sources, a mass spectrometry unit, a detector, and three electrodes laid out so as to be parallel to each other. The first electrode and the second electrode have openings that allow ions to pass therethrough. The trajectories of said ions are deflected between the second electrode and the third electrode, thereby directing ions generated by the ion sources towards the mass spectrometry unit.

Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry device

The objective of the present invention is to improve the robustness, sensitivity, and maintainability of a mass spectrometer to which a liquid chromatograph can be connected. This mass spectrometer includes: an ion source; a mass spectrometry unit; a plurality of flat plates used as electrodes having openings through which ions can be introduced to the mass spectrometer from an orthogonal direction along an ion introduction axis; a porous member provided between the mass spectrometry unit and the plurality of flat plates; and a mechanism for feeding gas to the plurality of flat plates for the side opposite from the ion introduction direction; the plurality of flat plates being disposed under atmospheric pressure, and the plurality of electrodes being set at a temperature higher than room temperature.

A mass spectrometry is equipped with a liquid specimen supply part which supplies a liquid specimen sandwiched between bubbles, an ion source part ionizes the specimen, and a mass spectrometry part which detects ions separated in accordance with mass. In particular the ion source part is configured so as to include a liquid supply tube for transporting a specimen from the liquid specimen supply part, a degassing/liquid retention part in which bubbles are removed, a spraying part which ionizes the specimen, and a high-voltage power supply part which applies a high voltage to the spraying part. The device is further characterized in that after removing the bubbles, a Taylor cone is formed from the resultant pre-solution, and the specimen is ionized thereafter. Thus, the ionization of an intended specimen is stabilized, and the measurement reproducibility is improved.

Method and device for mass spectrometry

To enable measurement over a wide dynamic range from weak light quantity to strong light quantity in a light quantity detection device for detecting the light quantity, a detection signal from a photon counting light detector is A/D converted. When the A/D converted detection signal has a preset threshold value or more, the detection signal is transmitted as it is to a number-of-photons calculation circuit in a subsequent stage, and when the detection signal has the threshold value or less, threshold value processing for transmitting a preset reference value to the subsequent stage is performed. In the number-of-photons calculation circuit, the number of photons or the light quantity incident on the photon counting light detector is acquired from the dimension of an acquired detection signal waveform until the light quantity measurement ends.

Light quantity detection method and device therefor

A signal processing device includes amplifiers that are capable of amplifying detected signals using amplification factors that are different from each other; A/D converters that sample plural signals amplified by the amplifiers using the different amplification factors and output from the amplifiers; calculators that perform, on the basis of the amplification factors of the plural amplifiers, calculation on plural data pieces converted by the A/D converters; and a selector that selects one or more of output data pieces from among plural data pieces output from the calculators.

Signal processing device, mass spectrometer, and photometer

A tandem mass spectrometer comprising an ion source for ionizing a sample, an ion trap section for carrying out collision induced dissociation of the target ions thereby to produce fragment ions, a multi electrode collision section for conducting collision induced dissociation of fragment ions discharged from the ion trap section, a mass spectrometer section for conducting mass spectrometric analysis of the converged fragment ions. After the target ions selected by the ion trap section are subjected to collision induced dissociation, specific fragment ions among the fragment ions are selected and transferred to the multi electrode collision section thereby to carry out collision induced dissociation therein.

Mass spectrometric analyzer

A time-of-flight mass spectrometer includes a detector and is adapted to measure the time it takes for an accelerated ion to reach the detector and thereby measure the mass of the ion. The time-of-flight mass spectrometer scans a voltage applied to an ion incident side surface of the detector in accordance with a mass to be measured. An electrode is provided between the detector and a space in which an ion flies. The time-of-flight mass spectrometer is capable of measuring ions of a wide range of masses with high detection efficiency by scanning a voltage applied to the electrode.

Time-of-flight mass spectrometer

During the structural analysis of a protein or peptide by tandem mass spectroscopy, a peptide ion derived from a protein that has already been measured and that is expressed in great quantities is avoided as a tandem mass spectroscopy target. A peptide derived from a minute amount of protein, which has heretofore been difficult to analyze, can be automatically determined as a tandem mass spectroscopy target within the real time of measurement. Data concerning a protein that has already been measured and a peptide derived from the protein is automatically stored in an internal database. The stored data is collated with measured data with high accuracy to determine an isotope peak. In this way, the process of selecting a peptide peak that has not been measured as the target for the next tandem analysis can be performed within the real time of measurement and a redundant measurement of peptides derived from the same protein can be avoided. The information contained in the MSspectrum is effectively utilized in each step of the MSinvolving a multi-stage dissociation and mass spectroscopy (MS), so that the flows for the determination of the next analysis content and the selection of the parent ion for the MSanalysis, for example, can be optimized within the real time of measurement and with high efficiency and accuracy. Thus, a target of concern to the user can be subjected to tandem mass spectroscopy without wasteful measurement.

For the achievement of data transfer time reduction, removal of noise data, and analytical efficiency improvement in an ADC data processing function of a time-of-flight mass spectrometer, the mass spectrometer comprises a data acquisition circuit including: an A/D converter; a signal intensity addition memory that stores data of ion signals such as a time range and the number of measurements and performs an addition process; a voltage value frequency addition memory that performs an addition process of frequencies of voltage values of the predetermined time range and the number of measurements and stores addition results; a threshold level computation circuit that computes a predetermined threshold level from the results in the memory; a compression memory that extracts only data exceeding the threshold level from the data in the signal intensity addition memory; and a counter that controls a measurement time for data acquisition and the operation of each circuit.
