A lever support device for a clutch cover assembly is disclosed, and includes a lever support 16 having a threaded portion 16a at its end portion, a support nut 17 engaged with the threaded portion 16a of the lever support 16 and fitted with the clutch cover 11, a lock plate 18 having an engagement portion 18a engaged with the outer periphery of the support nut 17, at least one oblong mounting aperture 18b in the lock plate 18 which inhibits rotation of the support nut 17, and a fixing member 19 inserted into the mounting aperture 18b in the lock plate 18 with a space 30 for rotation of the lock plate therebetween.

To avoid an increase of the number of steps for assembling a coil spring and seat members and a reduction in mechanical strength of the coil spring or the like, a coil spring assembly 20 is provided with the coil spring 25 and the seat members 26. A clutch disc assembly (1) includes a hub (2), a separate flange (5), a retaining plate (3), a clutch plate (4), a first bushing (16), a second bushing (18) and a third bushing (20). The first bushing (16) is disposed between the hub (2) and the retaining plate (3) and slidably moves against them. The second bushing (18) has a friction coefficient different from that of the first bushing (16). The second bushing (18) is disposed between the separate flange (5) and the retaining plate (3) and slidably moves against them. The friction coefficient of a portion facing to the hub (2) of the third bushing (20) is substantially identical with that of the first bushing (16), while the friction coefficient of a portion facing to the separate flange (5) of the third bushing (20) is identical with that of the second bushing (18). The third bushing (20) is disposed between the hub (2), the separate flange (5), and the clutch plate 4, and slidably moves against them.

Damper mechanism having a friction generating mechanism

A balance weight (20) is fixed to a damper disc assembly (1) together with a stop pin (10) and is used for balancing an imbalance in the rotational operation of the damper disc assembly (1). The balance weight (20) includes a hole (20a) through which the head portion of the stop pin (10) extends and recesses (20b) which engages a caulked portion of the stop pin (10), the recess (20b) formed on the peripheral portion of the hole (20a) therein.

A clutch disc assembly interposed between an input side rotary member and an output side member has a hub, disc-like plates, a friction member, an elastic member and a viscous damper mechanism. The hub is connectable for co-rotation with the output side member. The hub has a flange on its outer circumference. The disc-like plates are rotatably mounted on the hub. The friction member is connected to said disc-like plates, for frictional engagement with the input side rotary member. The elastic member is for elastically connecting the flange and the disc-like plates whereby the flange and the disc-like plates are rotatable with respect to each other. The viscous damper mechanism includes a fluid medium, for displacing the fluid medium through restrictions in response to angular movements of the disc-like plates and the flange with respect to each other.

Clutch disc assembly

In a first embodiment, a clutch disc assembly has a retaining plate 5, a hub 2, a first coil spring 6, a second coil spring 7, and a first friction washer 8. A connecting plate 3 is positioned in an outer circumference of the of the hub 2. The first coil spring elastically couples the connecting plate 3 and the hub 2 in a circular direction. The second coil spring 7 elastically couples the retaining plate 5 and the connecting plate 3 in a circular direction and is more excellent in rigidity than the first coil spring 6. The first friction washer 8 includes a first friction member 13 positioned between the retaining plate 5 and the hub 2, a second friction member 14 positioned between the connecting plate 3 and the retaining plate 5, and a coupling element coupling the first and second friction members 13 and 14 and elastically deformable in axial directions. In a second embodiment, a friction resistance generating mechanism 108, a first friction washer 114 is in contact with a side surface of a flange in a hub 102. A second friction washer 115 is in contact with a side surface of a sub-plate 105 and engages the first friction washer 114 so as to rotate along with it in unity in circular directions and to move relative to it in axial directions. A first conical spring 116 urges the first friction washer 114 toward the flange. A second conical spring 117 urges the second friction washer 115 toward the sub-plate 105. Only one of the first friction washer 114 and the second friction washer 115 has snap projections and stem-like projections which engage a retaining plate 104 so as to rotate along with it in unit in circular directions and to move relative to it in axial directions.

Damper disc assembly having multiple friction generating portions

In a first embodiment, a clutch disk assembly has a retaining plate 5, a hub 2, a first coil spring 6, a second coil spring 7, and a first friction washer 8. A connecting plate 3 is positioned in an outer circumference of the of the hub 2. The first coil spring elastically couples the connecting plate 3 and the hub 2 in a circular direction. The second coil spring 7 elastically couples the retaining plate 5 and the connecting plate 3 in a circular direction and is more excellent in rigidity than the first coil spring 6. The first friction washer 8 includes a first friction member 13 positioned between the retaining plate 5 and the hub 2, a second friction member 14 positioned between the connecting plate 3 and the retaining plate 5, and a coupling element coupling the first and second friction members 13 and 14 and elastically deformable in axial directions. In a second embodiment, a friction resistance generating mechanism 108, a first friction washer 114 is in contact with a side surface of a flange in a hub 102. A second friction washer 115 is in contact with a side surface of a sub-plate 105 and engages the first friction washer 114 so as to rotate along with it in unity in circular directions and to move relative to it in axial directions. A first conical spring 116 urges the first friction washer 114 toward the flange. A second conical spring 117 urges the second friction washer 115 toward the sub-plate 105. Only one of the first friction washer 114 and the second friction washer 115 has snap projections and stem-like projections which engage a retaining plate 104 so as to rotate along with it in unit in circular directions and to move relative to it in axial directions.
