An alkaline dry battery of this invention includes: a cylindrical positive electrode mixture having a hollow and including at least one of manganese dioxide powder and nickel oxyhydroxide powder; a gelled negative electrode including zinc alloy powder; a separator interposed between the positive electrode mixture and the gelled negative electrode; a negative electrode current collector inserted into the gelled negative electrode; and a negative electrode terminal plate electrically connected to the negative electrode current collector. The gelled negative electrode is filled in the hollow of the positive electrode mixture with the separator interposed therebetween. The height Lof the gelled negative electrode filled therein and the length Lof the portion of the negative electrode current collector inserted in the gelled negative electrode satisfy the relation (1): 0.72&#x2266;L/L&#x2266;0.86.

Alkaline dry battery

An alkaline primary battery of the present invention includes a positive electrode containing at least one of manganese dioxide and nickel oxyhydroxide; a negative electrode containing zinc; a separator disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; an alkaline electrolyte; a battery case for housing the positive electrode, the negative electrode, the separator, and the alkaline electrolyte; a sealing plate for sealing the opening portion of the battery case; a resin-made gasket disposed between the battery case and the sealing plate; and a negative electrode current collector inserted in the negative electrode and the gasket. Between the battery case and the gasket, a sealing agent is applied. The sealing agent includes a mixture of a hot-melt resin with a weight average molecular weight of 1000 to 3000 and a softening point of 95 to 160&#xb0; C.; and polybutene with a number average molecular weight of 300 to 700 and a kinematic viscosity at 40&#xb0; C. of 10 to 1000 mm/S.

Alkaline primary battery comprising a sealing agent

In an alkaline dry battery, an opening portion of a positive electrode case is sealed by a terminal plate serving as a negative electrode terminal via an insulating sealing body, and a sealant layer is provided between the positive electrode case and the sealing body. The sealant layer is made of a material having a tensile strength of 0.02 N/mmor more with respect to a tensile distortion of 5 mm. For example, the sealant layer is made of a material containing, as a major component, polyamide resin having an amine number in a range of 50-200.

Battery having positive temperature coefficient element

An alkaline battery of the present invention includes a battery case, a power generating element housed in the interior of the battery case, and an assembled sealing part for closing the opening of the battery case. The assembled sealing part includes a resin sealing member. The sealing member includes a central cylindrical portion having a through-hole for inserting a shank of a negative electrode current collector therethrough, a peripheral cylindrical portion interposed between the periphery of the negative electrode terminal plate and the end portion of the opening of the battery case, and a joint portion for joining the central cylindrical portion and the peripheral cylindrical portion. The end portion of the opening of the battery case is curved such that the top of the peripheral cylindrical portion of the sealing member is wrapped therein, and the curved portion is crimped inward so that the periphery of the negative electrode terminal plate is fixed tightly. The sealing member includes polyamide having an equilibrium moisture content at a relative humidity of 50% of 0.9 to 1.7%.

Alkaline battery

An alkaline battery according to the present invention includes: a battery case that houses a power generation element therein; and an assembly sealing portion that closes an opening of the battery case. The assembly sealing portion includes a negative terminal portion, a negative current collector electrically connected to the negative terminal portion, and a resin sealing body. The negative terminal portion includes a first negative terminal plate and a second negative terminal plate spaced apart from each other, and a PTC element placed between the first negative terminal plate and the second negative terminal plate.

A leak-proof alkaline dry battery including a battery case and a seal unit for closing the opening of the battery case. The seal unit includes: a negative electrode terminal plate; a negative electrode current collector nail electrically connected to the terminal plate; and a resin seal member. The resin seal member includes: a central cylindrical part having an opening through which the body of the negative electrode current collector nail is inserted; an outer peripheral cylindrical part interposed between a peripheral edge of the negative electrode terminal plate and an open edge of the battery case; a connecting part interconnecting the central and outer peripheral cylindrical parts; and a thinned section formed in the connecting part. The body of the negative electrode current collector nail is fitted to the opening of the central cylindrical part in a particular fit relation to prevent leakage for a long time.

In order to enable the safer use of an assembly of multiple cells comprising: a plurality of unit cells; an outer container for housing the unit cells; a terminal plate for sealing an upper opening of the outer container; and a positive output terminal and a negative output terminal formed on the same face of the terminal plate, at least the side face of the negative output terminal is covered by a protective tube having an electrical insulation property.
