An electrophoresis apparatus includes a multi-capillary array having a liquid or solid disposed between the capillaries of the array. The liquid or solid exhibits a refractive index higher than that of air and less than that of water and reduces the amount of laser beams scattered by the capillaries. Also provided are methods of adjusting refracted and reflected excitation light beams passing through capillaries of a multi-capillary array, to reduce loss of intensity of the laser beams and increase irradiation of respective samples disposed in the capillaries.

Multi-capillary array electrophoresis device

A capillary array includes a light detection portion, a sample supply portion, a buffer solution supply portion and a voltage application portion which are necessary functions for electrophoresis, thereby, when assembling the capillary array into an electrophoresis apparatus, the same can be immediately used. Accordingly, a capillary array is provided which can be easily incorporated into an electrophoresis apparatus.

Capillary array

A capillary array includes multiple capillaries and two holding substrates for arranging the aforementioned multiple capillaries in a substantially plane surface by sandwiching at least some of these capillaries mutually. One of the holding substrates has a detection window for transmitting the detected light emitted by a test sample by irradiation of light. Especially, this detection window includes multiple light transmission areas provided to correspond to each capillary to transmit the detected light, and light cut-off areas provided between these light transmission areas to cut off the detected light. These light cut-off areas cut off light reflected from the surface of capillaries and hence improve the SN ratio, thereby ensuring high-precision detection.

Capillary array unit and electrophoresis based thereon

A multi-focus capillary array that can reduce crosstalk and a capillary array photodetector are provided. On a substrateon which a plurality of capillaries are aligned, a perforationis formed in at least a part of an area in the rear of the capillaries when the capillary array is viewed from the photodetector.

Capillary array and capillary array photodetector

Capillary array and electrophoresis apparatus

The present invention easies a connection between electrodes of a capillary array device and a connection plate for supplying a high voltage to the electrodes. According to the present invention, a connection plateand hollow electrodesare connected without solder but via a spring force. Alternatively, the hollow electrodescan be connected to the connection plateby utilizing volume elasticity of the connection plate.

Capillary array device

The first glass substrate having the first pressure admitting entrance for leading the pressure of fluid to be measured, is arranged at a side of a diaphragm of a pressure sensor, for measuring differential pressure. The second glass substrate is arranged at the side opposite to the first glass substrate, a spacer being sandwiched therebetween. The second pressure admitting entrance is formed at the second glass substrate, at the position opposite to the first presser admitting entrance of the first glass substrate. The first conductive film and the second conductive film are formed on two surfaces facing to each other, of the first and second glass substrates, respectively. By measuring the specific conductance and the dielectric constant of the object fluid between the two conductive films, these physical constants indicating the quality of the fluid, the quality of the fluid can be also detected. Thus, it becomes possible to realize and provide an integrated sensor capable of measuring the differential pressure (flow rate) and the quality of fluid by using one transmitter.

Integrated sensor

A field measuring instrument such as a differential pressure/pressure transmitter, an electromagnetic flow meter, a temperature transmitter, or the like which is used for industrial measurement includes a counter which is periodically counted up at a predetermined interval and outputs an interruption signal; a work memory which can temporarily store data; an EEPROM which can store a total operating time of the field measuring instrument and a flag indicative of an abnormality; and a processing unit for receiving the interruption signal of the counter, for incrementing the total time operating times in the work memory, for storing the incremented total operating time into the EEPROM, for self-diagnosing apparatuses in the field measuring instrument and data in accordance with self-diagnosis programs provided in the processing unit, for producing a flag indicative of a state of an abnormality when the abnormality is detected, and for storing the flag into the EEPROM together with the total operating time stored in the work memory.

Field measuring instrument and its abnormality managing method

A differential pressure transmitter is an improvement over the drawbacks of conventional apparatuses and provides a differential pressure transmitter which compensates for adverse effects of a static pressure by using a static pressure detecting piezoresistive gauge. The transmitter includes a highly sensitive static pressure sensor with high outputs, and a composite sensor with small crosstalk between the static pressure sensor and a differential pressure sensor. The differential pressure transmitter is constructed of semiconductor sensor substrate and a fixed mount on which the sensor substrate is securely mounted; whereby the differential pressure of a fluid is detected by utilizing the difference in Young's modulus between the sensor substrate and the mount. The sensor substrate is processed on one side or on both sides to make a part of the sensor substrate thinner than the surrounding parts and thereby cause a peak stress due to a static pressure load to occur at the thin part, and a change in resistance of a semiconductor piezoresistive gauge formed at that thin portion is detected.

Differential pressure transmitter

Multi-functional sensor comprises a support base made from borosilicate, a diaphragm with a E-shaped section secured to the base, the diaphragm being made from single crystalline silicon, principal plane thereof being oriented to be a crystalline plane (110), a differential pressure sensor having p-doped piezoresistor elements formed in the principal plane of the diaphragm at a thin wall portion of the E-shaped sectional diaphragm, each element being arranged along a crystal axis &lt;111&gt;, a static pressure sensor having p-doped piezoresistor elements formed in the principal plane at an outer peripheral thick wall portion of the E-shaped sectional diaphragm, each element being arranged along the crystal axis &lt;111&gt;, and a temperature sensor having a p-doped piezoresistor element formed in the principal plane at the outer peripheral thick wall portion of the E-shaped sectional diaphragm, the element being arranged along the crystal axis &lt;100&gt;. In the multi-functional sensor thus constructed, deviation of the output signal from the differential pressure sensor due to the influence of the temperature and static pressure can be removed easily to obtain the correct signal.
