An optical apparatus includes an angle filter disposed on an optical path in the middle of focusing or in the middle of divergence by a focusing optical element. The angle filter includes a dielectric multilayer film in which dielectric layers having a first refractive index and dielectric layers having a second refractive index lower than the first refractive index are alternately stacked.

A reflective spatial light modulator includes an electro-optic crystal having an input surface to which input light is input and a rear surface opposing the input surface, a light input/output unit being disposed on the input surface of the electro-optic crystal and having a first electrode through which the input light is transmitted, a light reflection unit including a substrate including a plurality of second electrodes and being disposed on the rear surface side of the electro-optic crystal, and a drive circuit applying an electric field between the first electrode and the plurality of second electrodes. The light input/output unit includes a first charge injection curbing layer formed on the input surface, and the light reflection unit includes a second charge injection curbing layer formed on the rear surface.

Reflective spatial light modulator, optical observation device, and light irradiation device

An optical element includes an electro-optic crystal having an isotropic crystal which belongs to a point group m3m of a cubic system and including an input surface to which input light is input and a rear surface which is a surface on the opposite side of the input surface; a first electrode disposed on the input surface; and a second electrode disposed on the rear surface. The input surface is located along at least one axis between axes obtained by rotating two crystal axes about one remaining crystal axis used as a rotation center at a predetermined angle in three crystal axes of the electro-optic crystal. A direction of an electric field to be induced by a voltage applied to a part between the first electrode and the second electrode is set in a propagation direction of the input light.

A reflective spatial light modulator includes a perovskite-type electro-optic crystal having a relative permittivity of 1,000 or higher and including an input surface to which the input light is input and a rear surface which faces the input surface; a light input and output unit disposed on the input surface of the electro-optic crystal and including a first electrode through which the input light is transmitted; a light reflecting unit including a pixel electrode portion including a plurality of second electrodes and an adhesion layer fixing the pixel electrode portion to the rear surface, is disposed on the rear surface of the electro-optic crystal, and reflects the input light toward the input and output unit; and a drive circuit for applying an electric field between the first electrode and the plurality of second electrodes. The adhesion layer includes a dielectric material in a cured material of a non-conducting adhesive material.

A light modulator includes a perovskite-type electro-optic crystal including a first surface to which the input light is input and a second surface which faces the first surface; a first electrode which is disposed on the first surface of the electro-optic crystal and through which the input light is transmitted; a second electrode which is disposed on the second surface of the electro-optic crystal and through which the input light is transmitted; and a drive circuit for applying an electric field between the first electrode and the second electrode. The first electrode is disposed alone on the first surface. The second electrode is disposed alone on the second surface. At least one of the first electrode and the second electrode partially covers the first surface or the second surface. A propagation direction of the input light and an applying direction of the electric field are parallel to each other.

An optical module includes: first and second optical elements; third and fourth optical elements; a first polarization control element and a first reflective light modulator that are sequentially arranged in one of a positive direction of a first vector and a negative direction of a second vector from the second optical element; a second polarization control element and a second reflective light modulator that are sequentially arranged in one of a negative direction of the first vector and a positive direction of the second vector from the third optical element; and a sliding mechanism that relatively moves the first and second optical elements and the third and fourth optical elements in the direction of the first vector relative.

Optical module

The present invention relates to a reflective spatial light modulator enabling improvement of light resistance and prevention of damaging of the liquid crystal layer. The reflective spatial light modulator controls phases of the incident light and a reflected light while reflecting light made incident from a front side, and comprises a liquid crystal layer, a dielectric multilayer film, and a phase shift layer. The liquid crystal layer is filled with a liquid crystal comprised of a light modulating material, and modulates the incident light. The dielectric multilayer film reflects the incident light. The phase shift layer is disposed between the liquid crystal layer and the dielectric multilayer film to shift phases of the incident light and the reflected light at an interface of the liquid crystal layer.

Reflective spatial light modulator

For a radiation image converting panel according to the present invention, a converting portion that converts a radiation image to an optical image is formed on a support for which a dielectric multilayer film is formed on a metal reflector, and the dielectric multilayer film includes at least a first dielectric layer that is in contact with the metal reflector and a second dielectric layer that is formed on the first dielectric layer and has a higher refractive index than that of the first dielectric film layer to light emitted by the converting portion.

Radiation image converting panel, scintillator panel and radiation image sensor

A vapor deposition process for depositing TiO2 and a vapor desposition process for depositing SiO2 are alternately repeated in a multi-layer film forming process. A refractive index that a thin film formed by each vapor depositing will provide is individually determined prior to each relative vapor depositing, and vapor deposition control data is prepared based on such a refractive index. Each vapor deposition is controlled by using a relative vapor deposition control data thus prepared. Therefore, each vapor deposition process can be accurately controlled according to the refractive index of a thin film even if repeated vapor deposition processes change the refractive index. Accordingly, a multilayer film having desired optical characteristics can be formed.

Method for forming thin films and apparatus therefor

A chirp compensation dielectric multilayer film mirror () reflects an incident light in a predetermined wavelength range and has group delay characteristics that prevent at least one of the dielectric multilayer film mirror () and a light transmission portion from applying a phase disturbance to an incident light within the predetermined wavelength range. Therefore, all the wavelength components of the incident light in the predetermined wavelength range are reflected by the chirp compensation dielectric multilayer-film mirror (), and no additional undesired phase disturbance occurs by the dielectric multilayer film mirror () and the light transmission portion. Accordingly, a spatial light modulator () enables a desired modulation only by a liquid crystal layer without giving an additional undesired phase disturbance to an output light.

Spatial light modulator and light pulse waveform controller

In order to reduce the light reflectance, an optical element comprises an optical element body formed of an optical crystal or a lens, and glass members with a prescribed refractive index, wherein the glass member is bonded to each of the light incident and emergent surfaces of the element body by an adhesive agent with a prescribed refractive index. The optical element body will not be affected adversely even if it is made of a crystal which is vulnerable to heat.

Optical element with reduced reflectance

Single-crystal KTiOPO.sub.4 is synthesized by a method that includes using KH.sub.2 PO.sub.4, K.sub.2 CO.sub.3, and TiO.sub.2 as starting materials and using WO.sub.3 as a flux material. These materials are mixed together, are reacted, and then are slowly cooled while the single crystal of KTiOPO.sub.4 is grown and/or pulled, from a seed crystal, in the Czochralski manner, the Kyropoulous manner, or the so-called solution lift-off manner. Typical cooling rates are about 2.degree. C. per day or 3.degree. C. per day during growth, but can be as much as 5.degree. C. per day.
