An image forming unit includes an image carrier, a body, a shutter unit, a first guiding portion, and a holding portion. The body holds the image carrier with a portion of the image carrying surface being exposed. The shutter unit includes first and second shutter members. The first shutter member is held by the body, being pivotable about a first rotational axis relative to the body, and includes a first inner surface. The second shutter member is held by the first shutter member, being pivotable about a second rotational axis relative to the first shutter member, and includes a second inner surface and first and second contact portions. The shutter unit is shiftable between a closed state and an open state. The closed state is a state extended with the image carrying surface being covered. The open state is a state with the image carrying surface being exposed.

Image forming unit attachable to image forming apparatus and protecting image carrying surface

An image formation unit includes a first unit rotatably supporting an image carrier on which an electrostatic latent image is to be formed, and a second unit rotatably supporting a developer carrier configured to develop the electrostatic latent image with a developer. The first unit includes a first engagement portion formed at one end in the direction of the rotational axis of the image carrier, and a second engagement portion provided at a predetermined distance from the first engagement portion at the one end side. The second unit includes a first engaged portion engaged with the first engagement portion, a second engaged portion engaged with the second engagement portion, and a drive input portion provided between the first and second engaged portions and configured to rotate the developer carrier.

The frame includes an engagement part that is configured to engage with a part of the load member, and a rotation of an end part of the load member is regulated by a regulation surface of the engagement part.
