A windshield defroster includes a defroster outlet positioned within the dashboard of a vehicle, in which a cover plate is attached within the defroster outlet. The cover plate includes an opening and a plurality of bars which separate the opening into various sections, so that the bars within the cover plate prevent objects from dropping into the defroster outlet. The windshield defroster includes a duct attached to the bottom surface of the dashboard, and a heater is positioned within the duct, so that warm air can be distributed to the defroster outlet through the opening in the cover plate. The cover plate is swingably connected to the duct by a hinge, and the hinge is integrally formed with the duct and the cover plate. The cover plate has a lower surface in the vicinity of the hinge, and the duct has a horizontal first projection in the vicinity of the hinge. The lower surface of the cover plate is in contact with the horizontal first projection of the duct, and the cover plate is thereby horizontally supported without any additional support for the free end of the cover plate.

Windshield defroster

A steering assembly supporting device comprising a steering assembly supporting body spaced from and extending in parallel to the cowl inner panel. The steering assembly supporting body comprises a hollow tubular portion and a hollow expanding portion having a cross-sectional area which is larger than that of the hollow tubular portion. The inner ends of the hollow tubular portion and the hollow extending portion are interconnected to each other. The other ends of the hollow tubular portion and the hollow expanding portion are fixed onto the corresponding cowl side panels. The steering assembly is supported by the hollow expanding portion.

A device for controlling evaporative emission from an automobile, which device comprises, a casing accommodating fuel gas absorbing agents, a tank port adapted to communicate with a fuel tank of the automobile and having a first check valve for permitting the flow of fuel gas from the fuel tank into the casing, and a purge port adapted to communicate with an internal combustion engine and having a second check valve for permitting the flow of fuel gas from the casing to the engine. Each of the check valves of the first and second check valves comprises a check ball of metal, and a valve seat engaging with the check ball and being made of thin metal plate formed in one body with a reinforcement of plastic.

Device for controlling evaporative emission from an automobile

A device for preventing evaporative fuel loss comprising a casing which accommodates fuel gas absorbing agents. The casing is divided into three slender compartments by means of two partitions. A flow-in chamber is disposed at the entrance of the first compartment and is communicated with a fuel tank. Two dispersing chambers communicate the outlet of the first compartment and the inlet of the second compartment, and the outlet of the second compartment and the inlet of the third compartment, respectively. An atmospheric chamber is disposed at the exit of the third compartment and has an atmospheric port for flowing in purge air and for discharging filtered and clean air.
