A boat propulsion machine includes a power source, a drive shaft, a propeller, a gear mechanism, a gear case, a tank configured to store a cooling liquid for cooling the power source, a heat sink configured to cool the cooling liquid, a cooling liquid passage connecting the power source and the heat sink, and a pump a pump configured to pump the cooling liquid to circulate through the cooling liquid passage. The power source, the tank, and the pump are provided at an upper portion of the boat propulsion machine. The gear case is provided at a lower portion of the boat propulsion machine. The drive shaft extends in an upper-lower direction between the power source and the gear mechanism. The heat sink is provided at a position lower than the power source and higher than the gear case in the boat propulsion machine.

Boat propulsion machine

A center of an actuator that rotates a steering shaft in side view of an outboard engine main body is at an outboard engine main body side from a clamp shaft supported by a clamp bracket and below the clamp shaft, and is further at a clamp shaft side from a steering shaft that is swingably supported by a swivel bracket that swings forward and backward with the outboard engine main body with the clamp shaft as a fulcrum. The center is located at the outboard engine main body side from an upper end mounting shaft where a tilt/trim unit that causes the swivel bracket to swing forward and backward with the clamp shaft as a fulcrum is connected to the swivel bracket and the tilt/trim unit is mounted and above the upper end mounting shaft.

Outboard engine

An outboard-motor mounting device is provided with: a clamp bracket () to be attached to a stern portion () of a hull; a swivel bracket () disposed between the clamp bracket and an outboard motor body (); a trim-tilt equipment () that swings the outboard motor body back and forth via the swivel bracket; and a lift equipment () that lifts or lowers the outboard motor body via the swivel bracket. The lift equipment having a lift cylinder () for lifting is liftably supported on the clamp bracket, and the trim-tilt equipment having a tilt cylinder () and a trim cylinder () is disposed behind the lift equipment so that the tilt cylinder is positioned behind the lift cylinder and the trim cylinder is positioned on the side of the tilt cylinder.

Outboard-motor mounting device

An outboard motor () includes a V-engine () having a left bank (BL) and a right bank (BR) extending obliquely toward a rear left side and a rear right side, respectively, relative to a crankshaft () extending in a vertical direction. An intake device () is provided between the left bank and the right bank, and catalyst devices (L,R) that treat exhaust gas are disposed rearward of cylinder heads (L,R) of the left bank and the right bank.

Outboard motor

There is provided a steering device of an outboard motor to be attached to a boat hull. A swivel bracket to be attached to a side of the boat hull supports a steering shaft to which an outboard motor main body is connected. A steering actuator is disposed above the swivel bracket and the steering actuator generates power in accordance with input from outside. A power transmission mechanism is disposed above the swivel bracket to connect the steering actuator to the steering shaft. The power transmission mechanism transmits the power of the steering actuator to the steering shaft. A cover member is attached to an upper portion of the swivel bracket to cover the steering actuator, the power transmission mechanism, a connection part between the steering actuator and the power transmission mechanism, and a connection part between the power transmission mechanism and the steering shaft.

Steering device for outboard motor

[Problem] To perform an assembling operation easily while attaining improvement in engine efficiency. [Solution] An outboard motoraccording to the invention includes an upstream side ductwhich is fixed to an engine upper cover, and a downstream side ductwhich is fixed to an engineside. The upstream side ductincludes an exhaust portwhich is opened at its side face. The downstream side ductincludes a downstream side lower ductand a downstream side upper duct. In the downstream side lower duct, a suction portis provided at a position opposed to the exhaust portand separately at a predetermined distance from the exhaust port. In the downstream side upper duct, an exhaust port formed toward a throttle bodyof the engineis provided above the downstream side lower duct. The upstream side ductand the downstream side ductare formed so as not to interfere with each other when the engine upper coveris moved vertically.

An intake device for outboard motors, which makes it possible to improve intake performance and reduce the size of the device at the same time. Cylinder banks have a plurality of cylinder bores arranged in a vertical direction, and extend rearward to form a V shape. Intake ports of the respective cylinder bores are formed in the cylinder banks to open in the inner sides of the V shape. An intake manifold is connected to the intake ports. A surge tank is connected to the intake manifold. A throttle body is connected to the surge tank. The surge tank comprises a plurality of intake passage members connected to the respective cylinder bores via the intake manifold, wall members provided between respective adjacent ones of the intake passage members, and a lid member configured to hermetically close a space defined by the intake passage members and the wall members.

Intake device for outboard motors

A shift system for outboard motors, which is reduced in size, and is capable securing compatibility with an outboard motor of a type for which the shift operation is manually performed using a shift cable. A motor-driven shift actuator is disposed at a location forward of and to the right of an engine within an engine cover covering the engine. A clutch motor is provided for the actuator and disposed at a location rearward thereof, with a motor output shaft disposed in a manner extending forward, and is operated in response to the detected vessel operator's shift. An actuator output shaft is disposed at a location forward of the clutch motor and extends downward from a front part of the actuator. The actuator output shaft rotates in accordance with rotation of the motor output shaft. A clutch shaft is disposed below the actuator and rearward of the actuator output shaft. A first linkage is disposed on the right side of the actuator, as viewed in plan view, and connects between the actuator output shaft and the clutch shaft.

Shift system for outboard motors

A two-cylinder V-type OHV engine for outboard motors, which allows space saving in the direction of the width of the engine. A starboard side cylinder bank (RB) has a cylinder (R) and a port side cylinder bank (LB) has a cylinder (L). The first cylinder bank (RB) and the second cylinder bank (LB) are arranged to form a V-shape. A crankshaft (), a single camshaft (), and an idle gear () are disposed such that the crankshaft () drives the single camshaft () via the idle gear ().

Two-cylinder V-type OHV engine for outboard motors

An outboard motor includes an upright engine in which a plurality of cylinders are arranged vertically, an engine cover covering the engine, and an intake system for the engine. The intake system includes an intake manifold disposed on a side of the engine and provided with a surge tank and an intake pipe, in which the surge tank is arranged on the side of the engine inside the engine cover, the intake pipe is arranged on the inner surface side of the engine cover therein in a manner that the surge tank and the intake pipe are arranged parallel to each other.

Intake system of outboard motor

There is provided a lubricating structure for an outboard motor, which can secure a sufficiently large cross-sectional area for a main oil gallery while preventing an increase in the width of an engine thereof. A water-cooled four-cycle six-cylinder V-type engine having a generally vertically disposed crankshaft is mounted on an engine holder. A cylinder block is disposed at the rear of a crankcase disposed in the foremost end (i.e. on the bow side) of the engine, and a main oil gallery extends vertically in the starboard-side side part of the cylinder block. Namely, the main oil gallery is disposed not in a central part of the cylinder block in the transverse direction thereof, but at a location outward of cylinder bores of the cylinder block.

Lubricating structure for outboard motors

An exhaust structure for use in an outboard engine of a vertical-type four-cycle V-type having cylinder heads, a crankcase, cylinder blocks constituting left and right sides of an integral body disposed in a V shape as seen in a plan view and forming a V-bank therebetween, an intake system disposed in the V bank, exhaust systems disposed on the left and right sides outside the V-bank, and a crankshaft disposed substantially vertically to the surface formed where the crankcase and cylinder blocks join one another, wherein the engine is disposed above an engine support attached to the hull and an oil pan is disposed beneath the engine support. The exhaust systems join and become integral inside the engine support and then pass through the interior of the oil pan to discharge exhaust gases. The invention provides an outboard engine exhaust structure having a non-complex oil pan of sufficient capacity.

Outboard engine exhaust structure

A lubricating system for an outboard motor equipped with a vertical type engine. In one embodiment, the lubricating system has an oil pump positioned near the bottom of the engine, the oil pump driven by an oil pump rotor that is positioned at a connection between the crankshaft and an engine drive-shaft, the oil pump rotor being linked to the crankshaft. The system further includes a camshaft-driving mechanism for transmitting the rotation of the crankshaft to a propulsion device. The camshaft-driving mechanism is also positioned at the connection between the crankshaft and the drive-shaft and is also linked to the crankshaft. The lubrication system also has a main oil tank for storing lubricating oil circulated by the oil pump, and an engine-cooling water passageway positioned next to the main oil tank. Another element of this embodiment of the lubricating system is a filter-mounting base positioned on an outer wall of the cylinder blocks. The system also has oil passageways positioned at the bottom of the cylinder blocks for distributing the oil.

Lubricating system for an outboard motor

An intake system of an outboard motor including a vertically arranged V-type engine comprises, an intake manifold connected to the intake ports, a surge tank connected to the intake manifold and disposed at a rear side from a central portion of the engine, a throttle body provided with a throttle valve, a plurality of intake passages for high revolution operation of the engine. The intake passages for high revolution operation extend from the surge tank and are communicated with the intake manifold, and the intake passages for low/intermediate revolution operation extend from the surge tank and are joined with the intake passages for high revolution operation, respectively. Each of the intake passages for low/intermediate revolution operation has a length longer than that for high revolution operation. A valve open/close mechanism is also disposed for opening/closing all at once portions upstream side of the joined portions of both the intake passages of the engine.

An air intake cooling system for an outboard motor equipped with a V-type engine. In one embodiment, the air intake cooling system has an air intake manifold and a water-cooling passageway positioned in the air intake manifold for cooling air in the air intake manifold. The system further has a water sleeve for cooling a main oil reservoir located inside the V-type engine, the water sleeve positioned next to the main oil reservoir and connected to the water-cooling passageway. The system uses water in the water-cooling passageway for cooling the air intake manifold and in the water sleeve for cooling a lubricating oil in the main oil reservoir, the water used to cool the intake manifold being the same as the water in the water sleeve.
