An image forming apparatus, method, and system are disclosed. The apparatus includes first and second image forming sections; a selector that selects one of a first halftone screen for a first printing mode in which the first image forming section forms a first image on the print medium, and a second halftone screen for a second printing mode in which the first image forming section forms the first image on the print medium and the second image forming section forms a second image on the first image so that the first image and the second image are printed one over the other. The first and second halftone screens include respective first and second numbers of raster lines per unit, the first halftone screen and the second halftone screen being different in the number of raster lines; a controller; and a discharging section.

Image forming apparatus capable of adjusting black and color print densities and control program for adjusting such densities

An image formation apparatus, for forming an image using color developers and a transparent developer, includes: a color developer threshold memory unit configured to store a color developer maximum threshold for each point of interest; a transparent developer threshold memory unit configured to store a transparent developer threshold for each point of interest; and an image signal converter configured to make color correction of the color developers in received image data when the image data contains a portion where a total amount of the color developers exceeds a color developer maximum threshold, and issue an instruction to apply the transparent toner to a portion where the total amount is not more than the transparent developer threshold.

Image formation apparatus

A cartridge information managing unit reads a kind of toner cartridge which is detachable to an image forming apparatus main body and ID information stored in a toner cartridge identification information storing unit and manages them. A process switching unit of an image forming unit switches a processing method of received image information on the basis of the read ID information of the toner cartridge. Even if the toner cartridge is incompatible with the apparatus, deterioration in image quality is suppressed.

Image forming apparatus

Parameters for mapping colors from an input system to an output system are determined by displaying a set of adjustment colors in the input system and outputting a reference color pattern in the output system. A human operator selects the reference colors most closely matching the adjustment colors. The mapping parameters are determined from the operator's selections, by table look-up or by use of a mathematical formula, for example. Accurate color mapping parameters can be generated in this way without the need for trial and error.

A color correcting apparatus corrects color data according to second ambient light so that an output device outputting a color based on the color data calibrated in first specified ambient light can output almost the same color in the second light. The apparatus comprises a storing section used to store several main component data each representing a different component of light, which are combined to reproduce the second light, an input section used to input several weighing coefficients to assign weight to each of the several pieces of component data when they are combined and a correcting section used to correct color data based on correction parameters obtained using the several pieces of component data stored in the storing section and using the several weighing coefficients input through the input section.

Color correcting apparatus

A color conversion method maps input colors to output colors by first scaling the color coordinate system to reduce the difference between the gamut of reproducible input colors and the gamut of reproducible output colors. After scaling, input colors are mapped onto a polyhedron approximating the gamut of reproducible output colors. The polyhedron has vertices at the output white and black colors, and at least three of the most vivid reproducible output colors. In the mapping process, these most vivid colors are left fixed, and the input white and black colors are mapped to the output white and black colors.
