A knee airbag device for a vehicle, configured in such a manner that, when a knee airbag is inflated and expanded with the knees of a vehicle occupant located close to an airbag door, a load to the lower legs is reduced. A first tear section () for expanding a first airbag door () in the vehicle's top-bottom direction and a second tear section () for expanding a second airbag door () in the vehicle's lateral direction are formed on the rear surface side of a glove-box-door outer member (). The first tear section () is composed of a left and right pair of vertical tear sections () and a first horizontal tear section (). The second tear section () is composed of second lateral tear sections ().

Knee airbag device for vehicle

A disc inflator having gas cooling and mist removal functions, and reduced in weight and in size in a radial direction. An inflator case () has an upper case () at an occupant side and a lower case () at a side opposite an occupant. A tubular holding member () having a separation wall () at a base portion thereof is provided in the inflator case. A gas flow path () is formed at a periphery of the holding member (), and communication holes () communicating with the gas flow path () are formed in the separation wall (). At a peripheral wall portion (B) of the upper case () is formed a gas ejection hole () at a position offset towards an occupant side only by a distance &#x3b4; from a central position P of a combustion chamber (). Accordingly, a length (L) of a flow path from the starting end of the flow path to the gas ejection hole () increases, enabling effective heat exchange of a high temperature gas and removal of mist (). Thereby, a conventionally used filter may be disposed of.

Inflator and vehicle airbag device using the same

An inflator () comprised of an inner case () and an outer case (). The inflator () includes a combustion chamber located inside the inner case (), a plurality of gas discharge ports () formed on the outer case (), a gas outlet port () formed on an outer surface of the inner case () and a gas guide section that guides the inflation gas exited the gas outlet port () toward the gas discharge ports (). The gas guide section includes between the outer case () and inner case () a guide wall () provided with a guide plane that contacts with and redirects the inflation gas. The guide plane is formed into an arc face so as to swivel the inflation gas exited the gas outlet port () in a swirl or helical fashion, guide the inflation gas toward the gas discharge ports () and capture residuals.

Inflator

It is an object to ensure that, even when knee regions of an occupant are in a near state with respect to a storage section of a knee airbag at the time of a frontal collision of a vehicle, the knee regions can be restrained appropriately by the knee airbag. A knee airbagstored in a folded state in a glove box door(a storage section) receives a supply of a gas at the time of a frontal collision of a vehicleand inflates and deploys toward knee regionsK of an occupantseated in a front passenger seat(a vehicle seat). At this time, when the knee regionsK of the occupantare in a near state with respect to the glove box door, the gas inside the knee airbagbecomes ventable to the outside from a vent hole, The vent holeappropriately vents this gas from the inside, of the knee airbag, and the reaction force of the knee airbagwith respect to the knee regionsK are reduced.

An airbag device includes: a bag body that is deployed by internal pressure rising as a gas is supplied into the bag body; and a gas pressure adjustment portion that is provided on the bag body so as to be able to release the gas from the inside of the bag body during a deployed state of the bag body, and that is set so that the amount of the gas released from the bag body in the deployed state to an inward side in a vehicle width direction is larger than the amount of the gas released from the bag body in the deployed state to an outward side in the vehicle width direction.

Airbag device

An airbag device includes a bag element. The bag element includes a bag body that has a hole portion; and a tube vent that is formed in a cylindrical shape with both ends open. The tube vent has a proximal end connected to the bag body along the hole portion and is rolled up from a distal end of the tube vent toward a proximal end of the tube vent. The tube vent is unrolled as the bag body is inflated and deployed, and discharges gas from the bag body when the distal end extends outside the bag body.
