A disposable body fluid absorbent article includes a liquid-absorbent core. The core is provided in the vicinity of opposite side edges extending in a longitudinal direction with depressed regions tapering from an upper surface toward a lower surface of the core. A density of the core components in the depressed regions is lower then or equal to a density of the core components in the remaining region of the core.

A disposable diaper that includes a front waist region, a rear waist region, and a crotch region extending therebetween. An end portion of the rear waist region is provided with an elastic member associated with a waist-opening. The diaper has transversely opposite side edges and upper and lower edges. A plurality of slits extend through the diaper in its thickness direction and in a longitudinal direction so as to be spaced one from another by a predetermined dimension in a waist-surrounding direction between the side edges. The slits are also spaced one from another by a predetermined dimension in the longitudinal direction between a vicinity of the upper edge and a vicinity of the lower edge.

A disposable undergarment that includes a liquid-impervious base sheet and a liquid-absorbent structure lying on a wearer's skin side surface of the base sheet. The base sheet includes a breathable but liquid-impervious plastic film and a fibrous nonwoven fabric joined to the plastic film to define an undergarment side surface, the base sheet having a total luminous transmittance in a range between 60 and 85%.

A disposable diaper includes a cover member having an hourglass-shape and a-separate liquid-absorbent member composed of a liquid-permeable topsheet, a liquid-impermeable backsheet and a liquid-absorbent core. The cover member has an elastic stretchability along the upper ends of front and waist regions, and these front and rear waist regions are connected or connectable along transversely opposite side edges thereof. The liquid-absorbent member includes first and second elastically stretchable members that extend circumferentially across portions of the front and rear waist regions lying immediately above the crotch region. Longitudinally opposite ends of these elastically stretchable members are bonded to the transversely opposite side edges of the cover member.

A disposable diaper includes a topsheet, a backsheet and an absorbent core therebetween. The topsheet is composed of a central sheet covering the core and a pair of side sheets lying at transversely opposite sides of the central sheet and extending longitudinally of the diaper, together with the backsheet. Each side sheet has a proximal zone bonded to the backsheet without overlapping a side edge of the central sheet bonded to the backsheet. An outer zone bonded to the remaining zone of the backsheet lying outside the proximal zone forms an elasticized first side flap and an inner zone extending above the central zone forms an elasticized second side flap.

Disposable training pants includes a liquid-permeable topsheet layer, a liquid-impermeable backsheet layer and a liquid-absorbent core disposed therebetween. The topsheet layer is formed in a transverse middle thereof overlying at least a crotch region of the pants with a liquid-impermeable zone having a hydrophobicity higher than the laterally adjacent zones.

A disposable body fluids absorbent garment is provided with disposal securing means including a tape fastener used to secure the garment in its rolled up state for disposal. The tape fastener comprises an extendible intermediate tape section and a pair of inelastic and adhesive distal end tape sections extending from the intermediate tape section in a direction of its extension. A region of the tape fastener extending between the pair of distal end tape sections is partially bonded to an outer surface of a backsheet of the garment so that this region is not inseparable from the backsheet when the tape fastener is pulled in an extension direction thereof.

A disposable absorbent undergarment includes a liquid-permeable topsheet, a liquid-impermeable backsheet and a absorbent core disposed therebetween. The backsheet consists of a breathable plastic film and a breathable fibrous sheet integrally laminated with an outer surface of the breathable plastic film. The breathable fibrous sheet consists of at least a first component layer and a second component layer being in contact with the first component layer. The first component layer has a wettability with body fluids higher than that of the second component layer.

Disposable absorbent undergarment

A disposable diaper includes a liquid-permeable topsheet, a liquid-impermeable backsheet and an absorbent core therebetween. A pair of contractible leg-gasket cuffs extend outward beyond transversely opposite side edges of the absorbent core and a pair of contractible barrier cuffs extend adjacent the side edges of the absorbent core and are biased to rise from an upper surface of the top sheet above the absorbent core. Each of the barrier cuffs is made of a nonwoven fabric and each of the leg-gasket cuffs is formed with a portion of the nonwoven fabric extending outward and a portion of the backsheet extending outward beyond the side edge of the absorbent core and bonded onto the extending portion of the nonwoven fabric. A reinforcing sheet is bonded to an upper surface of each of the leg-gasket cuffs along its outer side edge in order to enhance a tensile strength of the leg-gasket cuff. The reinforcing sheet is made of a nonwoven fabric.

In a disposable diaper having a liquid-absorbent core which comprises, in turn, fluff pulp of less than 70% by weight and superabsorbent polymer particles of 30% or higher by weight, an isolating fibrous layer is placed on an upper surface of the liquid holding layer, then these liquid holding layer and isolating fibrous layer are integrally covered with a liquid-permeable covering layer such as a tissue paper, and these layers are intermittently bonded one to another over the entire extents of the respective laminating surfaces.

A method for making disposable absorbent articles which includes cutting a sheet into two elongated webs so that one edge of each web is straight and the other edge has alternating concave and convex portions, affixing the webs to a water-impervious backing sheet so that the straight edge portions thereof face each other and the alternating concave-convex portions face outwardly.
