An optical connection component includes optical fibers; one or a plurality of line members arranged in parallel with the optical fibers, line members having a lower elastic limit and being easier to undergo plastic deformation at room temperature than the optical fibers; a first securing member as a block having a plurality of capillaries extending parallel to one another or as a combination of a V-grooved board and a flat board, the V-grooved board having a plurality of V-grooves extending parallel to one another, the first securing member securing one-end portions of the optical fibers and one-end portions of the one or plurality of line members individually in the plurality of capillaries or in the plurality of V-grooves; and a second securing member that secures the optical fibers and the one or plurality of line members on a side near other-end portions of the one or plurality of line members.

A method for manufacturing an optical connecting component includes the steps of inserting an optical fiber into one through hole of a plurality of through holes of a connector, rotating the optical fiber around an axis of the optical fiber in the one through hole and aligning and holding the optical fiber at a predetermined position, blocking the end part of a through hole adjacent to the one through hole into which the optical fiber is inserted with a jig on an end face of the connector provided with the plurality of through holes, and fixing the optical fiber to the connector in a state in which the end part of the adjacent through hole is blocked.

The embodiment relates to an optical connection component including a bent optical fiber having a bent portion including a region where a curvature of the bent portion is maintained at 0.4 [l/mm] or more while substantially no bending stress remains. The bent optical fiber comprises a core, a first cladding, a second cladding, and a third cladding. Based on the third cladding, a relative refractive index difference &#x394;1 of the core, a relative refractive index difference &#x394;2 of the first cladding, and a relative refractive index difference &#x394;3 of the second cladding satisfy relationships of &#x394;1&#x3e;&#x394;2&#x3e;&#x394;3 and &#x394;3&#x3c;&#x2212;0.5 [%]. The present embodiment makes it possible to reduce the height of an optical connection component including a bent optical fiber having a bent-shape part and a fiber fixing component in a safer and more stable manner compared to a conventional technique. Before the fiber fixing component is fixed to the bent optical fiber, formation of a bent portion using the fiber fixing component obliquely disposed and heating of the bent portion are repeated a plurality of times for the optical fiber to which the fiber fixing component is movably fitted. At that time, movement of the optical fiber and the heating of the bent portion are alternately repeated. Thus, a plurality of bent portions where stress is released is formed in the optical fiber along the longitudinal direction thereof.

Method for manufacturing optical connection component

An optical fiber manufacturing apparatus includes a rotating mechanism including a holding member that holds one side of an optical fiber and a rotating member that rotates the holding member, the optical fiber including a glass fiber portion and a coating layer covering the glass fiber portion; a guiding member secured at a distance from the rotating mechanism and configured to retain the other side of the optical fiber loosely fitted therein; and a heating mechanism configured to heat a part of the glass fiber portion exposed and extending out of the coating layer, the part being interposed between the holding member and the guiding member. By rotating the rotating member counterclockwise by a given angle, the glass fiber portion is drawn from the guiding member and bent with a predetermined curvature while being heated.

Optical fiber array

The present invention relates to an optical interconnection component enabling implementation of optical fiber connection with higher accuracy than by the conventional technologies. The optical interconnection component is configured to maintain arrangement of end faces of a plurality of rotationally-aligned MCFs, so as to reduce connection loss to another component. Since arrangement of the MCFs can be confirmed by markers provided on a holding portion holding the plurality of MCFs inside, it becomes feasible to achieve the optical connection with higher accuracy.

Optical interconnection component

An embodiment relates to a method for manufacturing an optical module having an MCF and two connection components, and enables rotational alignment of the MCF to be implemented with high accuracy even in short-haul optical wiring. The MCF is arranged in a region between the two connection components while an end thereof projects from one connection component. As this arrangement state is maintained, array positions of cores in the projecting end are observed from a side face and the MCF is rotationally aligned by a rotation grasp jig grasping the projecting end to adjust the array positions of the cores, based on the observation result.

Method for manufacturing optical module

An embodiment of the invention relates to a bent optical fiber manufacturing method for manufacturing a bent optical fiber in which a bent region with a desired radius of curvature is formed, while maintaining an optical transmission loss within a permissible range. The method has a pre-step of preparing an optical fiber comprised of silica-based glass, a bend portion forming step of forming a bend portion in a partial region of the optical fiber, and a laser light irradiating step of irradiating the thus-formed bend portion with laser light.

Method for manufacturing bent optical fiber

The present invention relates to an MCF and others with a structure for accurately aligning each of core arrangement directions of one or more MCFs to be fixed in a connector. Each of the MCFs has a marker as an index for rotational position. The ends of the MCFs are rotated while monitoring positions of the respective markers with a CCD camera or the like, whereby each of the core arrangement directions is aligned with a specific direction.

Multi-core optical fiber and method for manufacturing multi-core optical fiber connector

The present invention relates to a laser light source capable of suppressing variation in propagation state of randomly-polarized laser light. In the laser light source, an isolator including a Faraday rotation crystal having a positive thermooptic constant, and a nonlinear optical crystal having a negative thermooptic constant are arranged in order along a traveling direction of laser light. The nonlinear optical crystal is arranged in a state off normal incidence of incident light so that a propagation axis of light propagating in the crystal is parallel to an optic axis of the crystal.

The present invention relates to a laser apparatus having a structure for removing a skirt portion contained in pulsed light, and a laser processing method using the laser apparatus. The laser apparatus comprises a MOPA fiber laser light source which outputs pulsed light having a skirt portion with a light intensity lower than a predetermined value, and a saturable absorber which removes a skirt portion from the pulsed light outputted from the MOPA fiber laser light source.

There is obtained a laser processing method by which an excellent shape of a cut surface can be achieved and an increase in cost can be suppressed. A laser processing method includes the steps of: preparing a material to be processed; and forming a modified area in the material to be processed, by irradiating the material to be processed with laser beam. In the aforementioned step, pulsed laser beam having a continuous spectrum is focused with a lens, thereby forming a focusing line constituted by a plurality of focuses that are obtained by predetermined bands forming the continuous spectrum of the laser beam, and the material to be processed is irradiated with the laser beam such that at least a part of the focusing line is located on a surface of the material to be processed, thereby forming the modified area on an axis of the focusing line.

Laser processing method

The present invention relates to a laser marking method which is capable of changing the grey level of a marking even in the case of a high processing speed. The laser marking method forms a marking pattern on a marking object by irradiating the marking object with pulsed light oscillated from a pulsed light source of a MOPA structure in which a semiconductor laser outputting directly-modulated pulsed light is used as a seed light source. At this time, the pulse duration of the pulsed light is changed in order to change a gray level of the marking pattern to be formed. In this way, a peak power of the pulsed light is changed by changing the pulse duration, so that it is possible to positively change the gray level of the marking pattern without changing the processing speed.
