The method for manufacturing a polymer of the present invention is a method for manufacturing a polymer where a hydroxy group is added to a terminal of either one of a homopolymer of a non-conjugated olefin, a homopolymer of a conjugated diene compound, and a copolymer of a conjugated diene compound and a non-conjugated olefin, the method comprising: a first reaction step of reacting a hydrocarbon containing at least either one of the non-conjugated olefin and the conjugated diene compound with an organic aluminum compound, using a rare earth element compound-containing catalyst; a second reaction step of reacting a first reactant obtained from the first reaction step with oxygen; and a third reaction step of reacting a second reactant obtained from the second reaction step with at least either one of water and alcohol.

Method for manufacturing a hydroxy group terminated olefin or conjugated diene polymer

A method for preparing a cyclic olefin addition polymer of high gas permeability, which method including subjecting a specific type of cyclic olefin-functional siloxane and a mixture thereof with a specific type of cyclic olefin compound to addition polymerization in the presence of a multi-component catalyst containing (A) a zero-valent palladium compound, (B) an ionic boron compound, and (C) a phosphine compound having a substituent group selected from an alkyl group having 3 to 6 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group and an aryl group, to obtain a cyclic olefin addition polymer of high gas permeability wherein a ratio of the structural units derived from the cyclic olefin-functional siloxane is at 10 to 100 mole % of the addition polymer and a number average molecular weight (Mn) ranges from 100,000 to 2,000,000.

The invention relates to a pneumatic tire having excellent mechanical properties by using a rubber composition containing a polybutadiene rubber having a high cis-1,4 bond content, a low vinyl bond content and proper number average molecular weight and molecular weight distribution, and more particularly to a pneumatic tire characterized in that a rubber composition including a polybutadiene with a cis-1,4 bond content of not less than 99.0% and a vinyl bond content of not more than 0.3% as measured by a Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy is used in any one of tire members.

A golf ball, typically its core, is manufactured by molding and vulcanizing a rubber composition comprising a base rubber, an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a metal salt thereof, an inorganic filler, an organic peroxide, and an organosulfur compound. The base rubber contains a polybutadiene having a Mw of 60&#x2013;150&#xd7;10and a Mw/Mn of up to 2.0 and containing at least 98% of cis-1,4 bonds and up to 1.5% of trans-1,4 bonds. The composition is easy to mold and work, and the golf ball has good rebound and improved flight performance.

A catalyst composition for polymerization of a conjugated diene or copolymerization of a conjugated diene and an aromatic vinyl compound, which comprises the following components: (A) a metallocene-type complex of a rare earth metal compound (samarium complex etc.), and (B) an ionic compound composed of a non-coordinate anion and a cation (triphenylcarbonium tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)borate etc.) and/or an aluminoxane. The catalyst composition is useful for producing a polymer having a high cis-1,4-configuration content in the microstructure and a narrow molecular weight distribution.

The present invention relates to a catalyst for polymerization of a conjugated diene or the like, which is composed of a metallocene-type cation complex of a gadolinium compound. Examples of such catalyst include a metallocene-type cation complex of a trivalent gadolinium compound represented by the general formula (I): RGdX(wherein, Gd represents gadolinium; R represents a cyclopentadienyl group, a substituted cyclopentadienyl group, an indenyl group, a substituted indenyl group, a fluorenyl group, or a substituted fluorenyl group; X represents an anion; 'a' represents an integer of 1 or 2; and 'b' represents an integer of 1 or 2). The present invention provides a catalyst by which polymerization of a conjugated diene or copolymerization of a conjugated diene and an aromatic vinyl compound can be carried out efficiently and inexpensively.

The invention provides processes for the preparation of fused pyrroles, preferably indoles, which permit the use of inexpensive aromatic amines themselves as the raw material and attain high atomic efficiency and high regioselectivity.
