A catalytic combustion type exhaust gas processing device wherein noxious/smelly components contained in exhaust gases are deodorized and purified through sequential oxidative decomposition by at least one catalyst layer composed of platinum and/or palladium catalyst and a copper-cerium catalyst comprising chemically active species of copper and cerium in a compounded form. The device can be applied effectively to a drying furnace, for example, used in a coating for automobile use.

Catalytic combustion type exhaust gas processing device and drying

A highly-viscous material coating apparatus for use, e.g. in an automobile coating process, to coat a joint of a workpiece, may be mounted on a robot. It provides improved operation where the workpiece provides a reference surface parallel to the joint, where the workpiece provides a reference surface displaced from the joint at varying distances along the length of the joint, and where the workpiece provides no reference surface. Where a reference surface is available, an extendable spring-biased guide pin of the apparatus moves along the reference surface, and any positional errors are compensated-for by action of the spring. If the distance between the reference surface and the joint varies, the varying distance may be compensated for by various disclosed practices. The apparatus also can be used where no reference surface is provided by retracting the guide pin with respect to the nozzle and by controlling the robot so as to direct the nozzle to the joint. A conventional nozzle may be adapted to dispense a highly-viscous liquid without splattering or otherwise marring the surface of the workpiece by providing the nozzle with a frusto-conic recess.

A drying furnace for use in coating drying in which a hot gas recycling duct for emitting radiation heat is disposed on the inlet zone of a tunnel-like furnace main body and resin-removing ducts are disposed along the ceiling of the inlet zone and the exit zone of the furnace main body respectively, wherein the furnace main body is turned in a U-shaped configuration so that the inlet and the exit thereof are arranged side by side, and the hot gas supplied to the hot gas recycling duct is supplied to each of resin-removing the ducts. Resinous substances can surely be prevented from forming and depositing at both of the inlet and the exit of the furnace and the cleaning work for the resin-removing ducts can be saved.

A method of operating an air-supplied type coating booth in which conditioned air supplied from an air supply blower is enforced downwardly to the inside of a tunnel-shaped coating booth and the air in the coating booth is drawn together with paint mists and the likes down to the beneath of a booth floor by way of an air exhaust blower comprises the steps of detecting the flow velocity of air streams flowing into or out of inlet and the exit of the coating booth, applying primary and secondary averaging processings for signals for averaging variations caused by external disturbances fluctuating at relatively shorter and longer periods of time, judging the thus averaged direction and the flow velocity of the air streams at the inlet and the exit, variably controlling the flow rate of exhaust from the exhaust blower in accordance with the direction and the flow velocity. The exhaust blower means are divided into a plurality of blowers and the minute variations in the direction and the flow velocity are controlled excessively by the blowers situated at the inlet and the exit of the coating booth, while remaining exhaust blowers are operated at predetermined flow rate.

A method of operating an air-supplied type coating booth in which conditioned air is enforced from an air supply blower downwardly to the inside of a coating booth and then discharged to the beneath of the booth floor by an exhaust blower, in which the booth operation is stopped after memorizing the balanced flow rates for the supply blower and the exhaust blowers kept just before the completion of the booth operation, and the supply blower and the exhaust blower are automatically set to the above-mentioned balanced flow rates respectively upon re-starting the booth operation again. Balanced and stable booth operation where no air streams flow into or out of the inlet and the exit can be attained rapidly at the start of the booth operation.

A method of operating an air-supplied type coating booth adapted to enforce conditioned air by an air supply blower through a filter downwardly to the inside of a tunnel-shaped coating booth at a predetermined flow velocity and then drawn to discharge together with coating mists, etc. to the beneath of the floor comprises the step of detecting the flow velocity of conditioned air flowing through the filter to the inside of continuously, applying primary and secondary averaging processings for the detected signals containing variations fluctuating at relatively shorter and longer periods respectively, comparing the value obtained from the signals applied with the secondary averaging processing with a predetermined flow velocity value and variably controlling the flow rate of the air supplied from the air supply blower depending on the deviation and thereby maintaining the flow velocity of the conditioned air flowing to the inside of the coating booth always constant. Reduction of the flow velocity supplied to the inside of the air-supplied type coating booth due to the filter clogging can be compensated exactly with no effects of external disturbances.

A method of heating a drying furnace for use in hot air-circulating type coating drying in which a hot air is supplied, under circulation, to the inside of the furnace thereby heating and drying coated articles, wherein heating for the furnace is conducted through a direct heating type hot air-circulating path in which the air inside of the furnace sucked from a return duct is heated directly by a combustion gas from a burner and supplied under circulation from a supply duct again to the inside of the furnace while conducting a step of increasing the temperature by pre-heating the inside of the furnace, whereas heating for the furnace is conducted through an indirect heating type hot air circulating path in which the air inside of the furnace sucked from the return duct is heated in a heat exchanger and then supplied, under circulation, through the supply duct again to the inside of the furnace while conducting a coating drying step when the temperature inside of the furnace reaches a predetermined temperature.

To achieve the efficient production of painted components, the painting system includes parallel input and output main transfer lines and a plurality of sub transfer lines which are located perpendicular to and between the parallel input and output main transfer lines. A plurality of input intersections are formed between the input main transfer line and the sub transfer lines, and a plurality of output intersections are formed between the output main transfer line and the sub transfer lines. Each sub transfer line includes a turntable within a painting booth which is located at a central portion of each sub transfer line and a painting device is located at the side of each turntable. Further, each sub transfer line includes at least an input side waiting position and at least an output side waiting position. A control means is provided for determining when the painting of the component and when the turning of the component is complete. The control means can, therefore, determine when the move the component.

An apparatus for applying surface treatment on an object-to-be-treated which is continuously moved in a treating liquid usually by a hanging conveyor. The apparatus is provided at the bottom portion of a treating vessel with one or more hoppers, which function to collect the deposited sludge for exhausting the same through the lower portion of the hoppers outside the treating vessel.
