A lens includes an incident surface through which outgoing light enters the lens, the incident surface being formed at a portion opposed to a light source, and an emission surface through which incident light incident on the incident surface exits from the lens. The incident surface refracts outgoing light in a direction away from an optical axis of outgoing light, along a direction orthogonal to the optical axis. The emission surface refracts incident light in a direction away from a centerline of incident light, along a direction orthogonal to the centerline.

A structure for fixing a light guiding member includes a light guiding member that guides light emitted from a light source to a prescribed position, a holder that holds the light guiding member, and a fixed member fixed to the light guiding member. The holder includes an insertion hole through which the light guiding member is inserted. The light guiding member includes a flange larger in outer geometry than the insertion hole and a shaft portion connected to the flange and inserted through the insertion hole. The fixed member is fixed to a portion of the shaft portion that projects from the insertion hole and larger in outer geometry than the insertion hole.

A water shut-off structure includes a member and a holder that holds the member. The holder includes an insertion hole through which the member is inserted. An exhaust gas purifying catalyst is characterized in that at least one kind of catalyst metal is loaded on a layered porous silica or a layered porous silica-metal oxide. A mold comprising a cavity for defining the shape of a casting and a mold body for forming said cavity, comprising: a mold body formed of an ordinary temperature setting resin or thermosetting resin and casting sand, said mold body having a surface layer portion on the surfaces thereof including depressions, said depressions in the surface layer portion being filled up with at least one porous powdered material selected from the group consisting of hydrous magnesium silicate clay mineral, activated carbon and activated alumina, thereby providing the mold body with smooth surfaces whereby said mold generates less amount of material such as gums which cause defective castings during casting since molten metal is restrained from intruding into the walls of said mold.

Mold surface treatment process and mold

A mold surface treatment process comprises: providing a fluidized bed of a treating powder; holding the mold in the fluidized bed to fill up the depressions of the mold surfaces with the treating powder by employing a surface treating member for pushing the treating powder into the depressions; and taking the mold out of the fluidized bed. The mold surface treatment allows to make molten metal less likely penetrate into the walls of mold, and to manufacture a mold which generates less amount of gum causing defects during casting.

An apparatus for randomly traversing the sheath component along the core component during the false-twist texturing process is also provided.

Method and apparatus for producing slub yarn

A method for forming a carbide layer on the surface of a carbon-containing ferrous alloy article or a cemented carbide article in a molten treating bath. The bath is prepared by introducing 5 to 20% by weight of alumina into molten boric acid or borate bath and a carbide-forming element dissolved therein. By employing the treating bath of this invention, the life of the bath can be remarkably improved, and no sintered substance of undissolved carbide-forming element is produced in the treating bath. Further, it is possible to reduce markedly the corrosion of the article and of the vessel holding the bath.
