Of the components making up the pump, one part including the bearing is removably assembled into the other part so that the bearing is received in the other part. This structure allows easy removal of the first part of the pump components from the second part for disassembly and for maintenance and inspection of the pump. The pump can also be reassembled with ease by inserting the first part into the other part.

Mechanical pump equipment

A cold trap disposed in a system in which liquid sodium is circulated as a heat exchanging medium, and adapted for removing impurities from the liquid sodium. The cold trap has a vessel in which defined are a cooling zone for cooling the liquid sodium containing the impurities, trapping zone in which the precipitated impurities are trapped and separated from the liquid sodium and an economizer zone in which the purified liquid sodium is reheated. The cooling zone and the economizer zone are disposed adjacent to each other, so that the purified sodium flowing through the economizer zone may be heated by the liquid sodium flowing through the cooling zone. The trapping zone is disposed in the passage of the liquid sodium interconnecting the heating and economizer zones.

Cold trap

A nuclear reactor with a reactor core having a plurality of individual core elements is provided with a clamping device for at least some of the core elements, which clamping device includes a plurality of pawls pivotally mounted to the interior of each wall of the hexagonal outer wrapping tube for movement between a position within the wrapper tube and a position extending through an adjacent hole in the side wall of the wrapper tube, and an operating tube axially slidably mounted within the wrapper tube for moving the pawls between their two positions. When the pawls are extended by the operating tube, they will move outwardly a predetermined distance transversely of the core element to cooperatively engage other core elements and clamp the assembly. A lock mechanism is provided to lock the operating tube and wrapper tube in one position of the pawls, preferably the withdrawn position, to assist in inserting and removing the core element.
