A programmable sequence controller using a technique called microprogramming, including a microprogram memory having a plurality of memory sections each storing a set of microinstructions corresponding to the command word of a sequence instruction. The operation code of the sequence instruction is applied to the upper bits of the microprogram memory so as to select one of the memory sections. The remaining bits are determined by a counter and the ON/OFF state of an I/O element so that one of the microinstructions is read out from the selected memory section.

Programmable sequence controller

A bed for a grinding machine includes a bed body formed at the upper surface thereof with a coolant receiving portion on which a layer of resin mortar is formed. The resin mortar is formed by a mixture of epoxy resin, a hardner and sand with a weight ratio of approximately 12.2:2.8:85. The bed includes a peripheral wall and the coolant receiving portion is trough shaped and has a flat surface portion so as to communicate with a coolant exhaust conduit.

Bed for grinding machine

A feed safety apparatus for a movable member slidably supported on a stationary bed of a machine tool. A feed device moves the movable member at various speeds. A hydraulic cylinder is fixedly mounted on the movable member and includes a piston slidably received therein. A reference plate member is secured to the bed and operatively connected to the piston for permitting bodily movement of the hydraulic cylinder and the piston within a predetermined distance, but restraining movement of the piston beyond the predetermined distance to cause relative movement between the hydraulic cylinder and the piston. A fluid flow regulating device is disposed between the pair of cylinder chambers of the hydraulic cylinder for restrictively controlling relative movement between the hydraulic cylinder and the piston.

Feed safety apparatus for movable member

A guard device for a grinding wheel in a grinding machine comprises a side guard plate pivotably mounted upon a guard body for covering one side face of the grinding wheel. A front cover member is slidably mounted upon the top portion of the guard body for covering the upper front portion of the grinding wheel. A latch member is mounted on the front cover member to be engaged with a saw-toothed member so as to restrict movement of the front cover member away from the periphery of the grinding wheel but to allow movement of the front cover member toward the periphery of the grinding wheel. A locking member is pivotably mounted on the top of the guard body to lock the side guard plate in a closed state. When the locking member is pivoted to be disengaged from the side guard plate, the saw-toothed member is also disengaged from the latch member.

Guard device for a grinding wheel in a grinding machine

A method of grinding a shoulder portion of a workpiece by a grinding wheel whose edge surface is smaller in width than the shoulder portion of the workpiece. The workpiece is rotated about a first axis and the grinding wheel is rotated about a second axis extending at an acute angle to the first axis. The rotating grinding wheel and the rotating workpiece are first relatively moved to engage the edge surface of the grinding wheel with the radially inner portion of the shoulder portion. The rotating grinding wheel and the rotating workpiece are then relatively moved to move the edge surface of the grinding wheel in a direction substantially perpendicular to and away from the first axis to grind the shoulder portion from the radially inner portion to the radially outer portion thereof by the first grinding surface of the grinding wheel.

Method of shoulder grinding

A workpiece transfer apparatus for transferring a workpiece for a machine tool. A first crank arm is rotatably supported and rotatably supports a planet gear engaging with a stationary gear and a driven gear engaging with the planet gear. A second crank arm is secured to the driven gear and fixedly supports a crank pin. A connecting member for lifting and lowering a workpiece grip device is pivotably connected to the crank pin. The crank pin has a cam member secured thereto. An operating member is provided with a cam follower engaging with the cam member and is operatively connected to the workpiece grip device for opening and closing the same in accordance with the shape of the cam member.

Workpiece transfer apparatus for machine tool

A feed amount setting device for a machine tool is provided wherein a cradle member, urged for contact engagement with a plate cam, is pivoted within a plane including the rotational axis of the plate cam when the same is rotated by a tool slide feed device. The pivotal movement of the cradle member is converted into the axial movement of a slide sleeve and an actuation sleeve, which is threadedly inserted into the slide sleeve for adjustment of the relative position thereto, in a direction parallel to the rotational axis of the plate cam. The actuation sleeve is formed at its one end with a radially extended flange contacting a lever arm and, when axially moved, pivotally moves the lever arm to thereby actuate a switch element. This element, when actuated, controls the operation of the tool slide feed device.

Feed amount setting device for a machine tool

An output circuit for a programmable sequence controller wherein a load drive element control circuit is responsive to a command signal stored in a memory circuit for controlling a load drive element connected between a load and a first electric supply. Between a power input terminal of the load drive element control circuit and a second electric supply, there is connected in series a switching element, which is switched on in response to a signal applied from a supply voltage detecting circuit only when the voltage level of the second electric supply is not lower than a level sufficient for normal and reliable operation of the load drive element control circuit.
