The present invention relates to a water-soluble azo compound for yellow represented by the following formula (1) wherein, A represents a hydroxy group, a morpholino group, an amino group, an aliphatic amine residue which may have a substituent, an aromatic amine residue which may have a substituent, a phenoxy group which may have a substituent, or an alkoxy group which may have a substituent, Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Rrepresents a hydrogen atom, a nitro group or a hydroxy group, and n represents an integer number of 1 to 3, respectively as a free acid, and an ink composition containing the same; said ink composition has good stability and is suitable for inkjet printing; and printed matters therewith have very high fastness such as ozone fastness and the like.

A novel azo compound represented by the following Formula (1) wherein A represents the following Formula (2) and is located preferably in a position meta or para to the azo group; Rand Reach independently represents hydrogen, carboxy, sulfo, nitro, Calkoxy, etc.; Rand Reach independently represents hydrogen, halogeno, cyano, carboxy, sulfo, nitro, Calkyl, hydroxy, or Calkoxy; and n is 0 or 1. [In the Formula (2), Rrepresents cyano, carboxy, Calky, Calkoxycarbonyl, or phenyl; and R, R, and Reach independently represents hydrogen, halogeno, cyano, carboxy, sulfo, nitro, Calkyl, Calkoxy, or acylamino.] The compound is useful as a black dye, especially one for ink compositions for, e.g., inkjet prints. Also provided are: an ink composition which contains the compound and has excellent storage stability; and a print obtained through recording with the ink. The print is excellent in light resistance, ozone resistance, fastness to moisture, etc.

The present invention relates to a water-based black ink composition comprising a water-soluble black dye (A) exhibiting ozone fastness and a condensate compound (B) of 4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2&#x2032;-disulfonic acid and aminobenzenes or a reduction product (C) thereof. Said ink composition is suitable for use in ink-jet recording, and realizes neutral hue and black color of high printing density. Further, a printed matter obtained is excellent in ozone gas fastness, light fastness, moisture fastness and color rendering properties. Still further, storage stability as a recording liquid is excellent.

The present invention relates to an azo compound represented by the following formula (1): (wherein, in the formula (1), Rrepresents a hydrogen atom; a hydroxyl group; a carboxyl group; a (C-C)alkyl group which may be substituted by a hydroxyl group or a (C-C)alkoxy group; or the like, and A represents an aliphatic amine residue having a carboxyl group or a sulfo group, respectively;) or a salt thereof; an ink composition containing the same; and an inkjet recording method and a colored object using the same. The present invention provides magenta dyestuff represented by the formula (1): (symbols are as defined in the present description), with hue and vividness suitable to ink-jet recording, excellent fastness to light, gas, water and so on in records and an ink composition using said dyestuff.

The present invention relates to a cyan dye mixture, an ink composition containing the mixture and a method of ink-jet recording with the ink composition. The print obtained by the method is characterized by discoloring or fading little even when allowed to stand in a well ventilated shade or in an ozone gas. The cyan dye mixture comprises compounds which are obtained by chlorosulfonating, as a starting material, copper phthalocyanine or a sulfonated copper phthalocyanine and then aminating the chlorosulfonation product with an aminating agent used in an amount of at least 2.5 mol per mol of the starting material, and which are represented by the following formula (1):wherein M represents a proton, alkali metal ion, alkaline earth metal ion, onium ion of an organic amine, or ammonium ion; m is an integer of 1 to 4; and n is an integer of 0 to 3; provided that m+n is an integer of 1 to 4.
