Vulcanization mold and pneumatic tire manufactured with the mold

A vulcanization mold in which a blade has a blade proximal end portion, a blade distal end side thick portion expanded in a thicknesswise direction on the distal end side, and a blade connection portion that connects the portions to each other, is a vulcanization mold wherein a sweep area that is the difference where a cross sectional area of the blade connection portion is subtracted from an area from the blade distal end side thick portion to a mold surface with a width equal to a maximum width of a thickness of the blade distal end side thick portion in a cross sectional shape perpendicular to a tire widthwise direction of the blade is smaller at the blades in circumferential end portion side regions than at the blades in a circumferential central portion side region of the sector mold. An optical semiconductor device and optical semiconductor integrated circuit are provided by combining, on a semiconductor substrate, materials having different refractive indices and different temperature dependence of the refractive indices. In particular, it becomes possible to control the temperature dependence of the oscillation wavelength with a propagating region having a material and/or structure whose temperature dependence of the refractive index is different from that of a gain region of the semiconductor laser. In addition, they can be configured to have a plurality of interfaces formed along the waveguide direction of the optical waveguide so that the light reflected off the first interface is weakened by the light reflected from the remaining interfaces. Also, they can be configured with the interfaces inclined to the propagating direction so that the waveguide loss due to the reflection and refraction between the optical waveguides whose refractive indices differ from each other can be reduced.

Optical semiconductor device and optical semiconductor integrated circuit

An integrated optical waveguide has a first optical waveguide, a second optical waveguide, and a groove. The second optical waveguide is coupled to the first optical waveguide and has a refractive index that is different from the first optical waveguide. The groove is disposed so as to traverse an optical path of the first optical waveguide and is separated from an interface between the first optical waveguide and the second optical waveguide by a predetermined spacing. The spacing from the interface and the width of the groove are determined such that reflection at a boundary between the first optical waveguide and the second optical waveguide is weakened. A semiconductor board may be disposed at a boundary between the first optical waveguide and the second optical waveguide. In this case, the width of the groove and the thickness of the semiconductor board are determined such that light reflected off an interface between the first optical waveguide and the groove is weakened by light reflected from an interface between the groove and the semiconductor board, and by light reflected from an interface between the semiconductor board and the second optical waveguide.

An integrated optical waveguide has first, second, and third optical waveguiding regions. The second optical waveguiding region has a refractive index different from that of the first optical waveguiding region. The second optical waveguiding region has an interface surface with the first optical waveguiding region that is inclined with respect to the waveguide direction of the first optical waveguiding region. The third optical waveguiding region has an interface surface with the second optical waveguiding region that is disposed such that a refraction direction through the interface surface is in line with the waveguide direction.

An optical amplifier includes a first optical path, second optical path, semiconductor optical amplifier, and multi-mode interference 3-dB coupler. The first optical path guides oscillation light. The second optical path guides signal light. The semiconductor optical amplifier causes oscillation on the first optical path. The multi-mode interference 3-dB coupler crosses the first and optical paths in the gain medium of the semiconductor optical amplifier.

Optical amplifier

A light-controlled light modulator can achieve high-speed, low-loss wavelength conversion. Continuous light with a wavelength &#x3bb;j is launched into an MMI coupler via a port, and is split into two parts by the MMI coupler, which are led to a loop-type interferometer. In the loop-type interferometer, the two parts travel separately around the loop as clockwise traveling light and counterclockwise traveling light, are combined by the MMI coupler again via a filter-equipped phase modulator, thereby being emitted to the port. In this state, signal light &#x3bb;i(s) with a wavelength &#x3bb;i is launched into the filter-equipped phase modulator via a port. Even when the wavelength &#x3bb;i of the signal light &#x3bb;i(s) is equal to the wavelength &#x3bb;j of the wavelength converted output light, the wavelength conversion can be achieved with preventing noise from being mixed into the output light emitted from a port.

Light-controlled light modulator

A light-controlled light modulator can achieve high-speed, low-loss wavelength conversion. An annular groove portion is integrally formed for preventing splashing of the lubricating oil by extending from a mount base ( ) of the motor rotor to the motor shaft ( ) to the metal bearing ( ) and the radial ball bearing ( ), allowing a spacer member ( ) making contact with an inner ring ( ) of the radial ball bearing ( ) to be attached inside the annular groove portion.

Supporting structure for motor rotor

A mechanism prevents uneven take-up of a tape on a take-up reel. This mechanism includes a roller guide having a first flange for guiding a first edge of the tape so as to position the tape in a direction perpendicular to a transport direction of the tape, and an arm roller which pushes against a part in a vicinity of a second edge of the tape which is taken up on the take-up reel, where the second edge is opposite to the first edge.

Mechanism for preventing uneven take-up of tape

A grating optical switch has at least one switch region for ON-OFF switch control of a signal light transmission and a signal light reflection, at least one input/output optical waveguide region for guiding the signal light to the switch, at least one coupler region for coupling the control light colinearly to the signal light and for guiding the control light to the switch region together with the signal light, and at least one separator region for separating the signal light and the control light. The switch region transmits the signal light when the control light is coupled while reflecting the signal light when the control light is not coupled.

Optical switch

An electro-optic device for use in optical modulating systems and the like comprises a pair of optically transparent, multi-element interdigital electrodes which are sandwiched between a pair of electro-optic crystals, whereby symmetrical fringing fields having a predetermined periodicity widthwise of the device are coupled into the crystals when a voltage is applied to the electrodes, thereby creating substantially identical phase diffraction gratings in the crystals for sequentially diffracting an incident optical beam.
