A poly-V pulley formed from a cup-shaped sheet metal blank by axially compressing the cylindrical portion while confined in dies to form a thickened cylindrical portion, with radially pressurized dies to prevent buckling or corrugating, and roll forming the thickened portion into the external poly-V grooves and the opposite internal surface with axially extending grooves of a convex and concave shape for maintaining the accuracy of shape and size of the poly-V grooves.

Poly-V pulley formed of sheet metal and method and apparatus for making

A method of making a connecting rod for an internal combustion engine which includes shaping a bundle of unidirectional inorganic fibers, placing the bundle into a shaping container and heating it partially in order to fuse the fibers to each other. The partially fused bundle is positioned in a mold in such a manner to produce an extra gap for a predetermined machining allowance between the bundles and cavities. A molten light metal alloy is squeeze cast into the mold under high pressure, i.e., 500-2000 kg/cm.sup.3, forming a matrix annular layer around the bundle. The rod portion of the obtained connecting rod is machined to remove defects in casting, such as a fatigue crack, a blow-hole or mixing of oxidated substances and takes the shape of a circular or elliptical cross-section.

Method of making a connecting rod

Constant differential pressure valves, one for each cylinder of the engine, supply liquid fuel to the injection nozzles. The liquid fuel supplied to the valves is delivered from a chamber within a metering member mounted to turn within the bore of a stationary sleeve. A plate carried by the metering member has notches on its periphery which cooperate with openings in the enclosing sleeve to form variable orifices. The metering member is turned in proportion to the rate of air flow through an air intake passage for the engine.

Fuel supply control device for fuel injected internal combustion engine

A motorcycle or the like is provided with parallel telescoping tubes forming part of an inclined front fork assembly straddling the front wheel. The wheel is mounted for rotation on said assembly about an axis spaced rearward of the telescoping tubes to reduce friction forces between them. The lower ends of the upper tubes are tapered to promote the formation of oil wedges for maintaining an oil film between the telescoping parts. Also, the fork assembly is mounted on the frame for pivotal movement about an inclined axis diverging with respect to a plane containing the axes of the telescoping tubes.
