A head-protecting airbag apparatus mountable on a vehicle having a window is disclosed. The airbag apparatus includes an airbag adapted to be secured to a member of a vehicle body structure by an upper edge thereof in an upper edge of the window and housed in the upper edge of the window in a folded-up configuration. The airbag includes an inflatable shielding section that covers an inboard side of the window at full airbag deployment, a supporting inflatable region that is in gas communication with the shielding section and deployable between an outboard side of a vicinity of an upper end of the shielding section and the member of the vehicle body structure in an upper area of the window, and delaying means that delays inflation of the supporting inflatable region relative to the shielding section. The supporting inflatable region inflates after the shielding section does between the shielding section and the member of the vehicle body structure, and supports the outboard side of the vicinity of the upper end of the shielding section.

Head-protecting airbag apparatus

A head protection airbag according to the invention includes: a shielding main body portion which is manufactured by double weaving, is configured to have a substantially rectangular plate shape when the shielding main body portion is flatly deployed so that a vehicle inside-facing wall and a vehicle outside-facing wall overlap with each other, and covers a window on the inside when the inflation is completed; a plurality of mounting portions which protrude upward from an upper edge of the shielding main body portion and mount the upper edge of the shielding main body portion on an upper edge of the window; and a connection port which has a substantially tubular shape, protrudes upward from the upper edge of the shielding main body portion and allows an inflow of inflation gas into the shielding main body portion. The mounting portions and the connection port are separate from the double-woven shielding main body portion and are connected to the shielding main body portion.

Head protection airbag

An airbag apparatus includes an airbag that has a first portion and a second portion. The airbag is folded such that the first portion approaches the second portion. The folded airbag has an elongated shape extending along a first direction. An inletis formed in the airbag. Airbag apparatus

The airbag of the head-protecting airbag apparatus includes a rear inflatable portion deployed at the interior side of the rear pillar. The rear inflatable portion includes an upper side portion extending rearward from a gas feed passage disposed at the upper periphery of the airbag, a main body disposed below the upper side portion and partitioned from the upper side portion by a partitioning portion, and a branched portion extending downward from the gas feed passage. The main body inflates with inflation gas fed from an inlet opening disposed at the lower end of the branched portion. At least a front lower area of the upper side portion is located below a parting line between a rear pillar garnish and an airbag cover at full inflation of the airbag. The upper side portion and the gas feed passage are folded and housed at exterior side of the folded-up main body and branched portion such that the main body is pushed out toward an interior of the vehicle getting over the upper end of the rear pillar garnish by the upper side portion and the gas feed passage.

In a head protection airbag device according to the invention, non-inflating portions of an airbag includes a blocking portion which covers the vehicle interior side of windows when inflation of the airbag is completed. One blocking portion includes a downward movement inhibiting portion catching a passenger's head and inhibiting its downward movement when the head moves downward while moving toward the vehicle exterior and touches the blocking portion when inflation of the airbag is completed. The blocking portion comprises overlapping vehicle interior side and the vehicle exterior side portions which are mutually connected, with a portion of a vehicle interior member by the upper edge made to be the downward movement inhibiting portion. The downward movement inhibiting portion is connected at both the front and rear edges to the vehicle exterior member of the blocking portion, allowing the upper edge of the downward movement inhibiting portion to be a catching edge which can be separated from the vehicle exterior member when catching the head.

Head protection airbag device

The head-protecting airbag apparatus of the present invention includes an airbag and a guide bracket. The guide bracket includes two guide walls and a joint wall, thereby has a generally U-shaped cross section, and accommodates the folded airbag between the two guide walls. The guide bracket is located above a pillar portion while being covered by an airbag cover, and serves to guide the inflating airbag toward vehicle's inner side and prevent the airbag from entering vehicle's outer side of the pillar garnish. The dimension of a clearance between the two guide walls is set such that: a gap arises between the housed airbag and at least one of the guide walls, thereby the airbag is allowed to inflate in the gap in the initial stage of airbag inflation; and that the deployment direction of the airbag is controlled by the guide walls, toward vehicle's inner side. In the head-protecting airbag apparatus of the present invention, the airbag housed in the upper periphery of windows smoothly protrudes inward of vehicle without providing any gas-leakage preventing means such as a reinforcing patch.

The head-protecting airbag apparatus is mounted on a vehicle whose third-row seat is so put away as to stand proximate to the inner side of a window. The airbag has three shielding portions, and includes a dividing recess between the third shielding portion and second shielding portion. In the event that the third shielding portion engages the folded seat during the course of airbag deployment, the dividing recess separates the lower edge of a region between the second shielding portion and the third shielding portion, so that the second shielding portion is not hindered from smooth development.

An inflator for an air bag, includes, a tubular housing including a gas discharge portion, a first fixing member provided in an outer circumferential surface of the tubular housing for fixing the inflator to a vehicle, the first fixing member including a contacting surface fixed to the outer circumferential surface, and a non-contacting surface extending in a direction tangential to the outer circumferential surface from one end of the first fixing member without contacting the outer circumferential surface. The first fixing member has a rib that extends from the contacting surface to the non-contacting surface.

Inflator for air bag

The head-protecting airbag according to the present invention is formed by hollow-weaving method, and includes a gas admissive portion inflatable with inflation gas to separate its vehicle's inner wall and vehicle's outer wall, and a non-admissive portion admitting no inflation gas. The non-admissive portion includes mounting portions arranged in the upper edge of the airbag, and a marginal portion located around the gas admissive portion. The non-admissive portion partially has a two-ply structure where the hollow-woven cloth material separates into vehicle's inner cloth part and outer cloth part from the marginal portion having a one-ply structure. At least one of the mounting portions is formed by folding back a region of the two-ply cloth part to have a four-ply structure. The head-protecting airbag of the present invention remains stably attached to the vehicle body without breakage of the mounting portions even when a strong tension force rapidly and directly acts on mounting-hole peripheries of the mounting portions upon airbag deployment.

Head-protecting airbag

In the airbag device of the present invention, a cylinder-shaped inflator includes a discharge side end portion having a plurality of gas discharge ports. The discharge side end is connected with the airbag utilizing a clamp by being inserted into a tubular gas inlet port of the airbag. Each of gas discharge ports includes a circumferential opening and an end face opening. The end face opening emits inflation gas in an axial direction of the inflator when the inflator is connected with the gas inlet port. Between each of the circumferential openings is a supporting plane for supporting an inner surface of the gas inlet port. The discharge side end includes a guide portion for redirecting inflation gas flowing from inside to directions perpendicular to the axis of the inflator when the gas inlet port is not connected with the inflator, such that inflation gas is discharged from the circumferential openings of the gas discharge ports. The airbag of the present invention dispenses with a diffuser and facilitates a connecting work of a cylinder-shaped inflator and an airbag.

Airbag device

A solidified residual iron within a blast furnace is suspended up by employing a shell suspending device fixed to a tuyere arranged in a lower end portion of an upper portion of a furnace body suspended by a lift jack and a solidified residual iron suspending band, thereafter is descended by employing the lift jack and is mounted on a horizontally moving table. Subsequently, the horizontally moving table mounting the solidified residual iron thereon is moved onto a furnace outer truck rail from a furnace inner truck rail so as to be taken out of the furnace by operating a center hole jack arranged near the furnace outer truck rail, whereby an operation of taking out the solidified residual iron within the blast furnace out of the furnace is economically performed for a short time.

Method of scrapping furnace bottom section of blast furnace

Mounting portions of an air bag body are respectively nipped by positioning plates which are each fastened and fixed to a pillar inner panel by a weld nut and a bolt via the plates. Caulking portions are formed on the plates so that the mounting portions of the air bag device are in advance fixed between the plates. A convex portion is formed on the plate, and with the convex portion being engaged with a hole formed in the pillar inner panel, relative rotation of the plate and a vehicle body is prevented. As a result, rotation of the air bag body in a direction in which the mounting portions are fastened, which occurs during mounting of the air bag body to the vehicle body, can be prevented.

Air bag for side air bag device

A side air bag device has an air bag and a substantially cylindrical inflator for supplying inflation gas to the air bag. The air bag includes a cloth bag and is installed in a vehicle interior in a folded state along the edge of a door opening. The air bag deploys so as to cover the door opening when it inflates. The air bag has a substantially cylindrical tubular gas inflow portion. This gas inflow portion is connected to the inflator so that it covers the inflator. The gas inflow portion is clamped to the outer circumferential surface of the inflator. With a side air bag device according to the invention it is not necessary to use a long pipe that from the inflator and it is possible to increase the freedom of installation of the device and also reduce its weight and cost.
