A computerized tomography apparatus is disclosed which reconstructs a tomography image of data from multi-directional projection data in a period of time less than the time required for a scan operation for data acquisition and displays the tomography image after a lapse of a given period of time from the termination of the scan operation. This avoids the time interval between scan and image display becoming irregular. Accordingly, tomography images can be displayed successively like motion picture to observe the internal movements of a section of a human body under examination in real time.

Computerized tomography apparatus

An X-ray CT scanner, favorable to mass screening, has a gantry in which an X-ray tube radiates an X-ray beam for a patient carrying through an opening for scanning formed therein. The X-ray tube rotates inside the gantry under scanning. The scanner has also an element for reconstructing computed tomography images with using data of the X-ray beam received through the patient. The scanner comprises a couch having a tabletop on which the patient lies down, the tabletop being movable along a longitudinal direction of the couch. Also provided are an element for carrying the tabletop from an initial position through the opening and an element for recognizing a predetermined longitudinal scan range while the tabletop is being carried. Further provided is an element for working the reconstruction element when the scan range is recognized.

An optical data transmission apparatus which is used to transmit a signal between the rotating portion and fixed portion of an X-ray CT scanner comprises light emitting elements arranged on a side plane of the rotating portion which is perpendicular to a rotation axis and are uniformly driven according to transmission data to emit lights in a direction parallel to the rotation axis. A light receiving element is disposed on the side plane of the fixed portion which faces the light emitting elements. The interval between the light emitting elements is so set that the illumination areas formed by the light emitting elements partly overlap each other on the light receiving element. Therefore, the light receiving element always receives a light or lights from one or two of the light emitting elements during the rotation of the rotating portion and transmission data from all of the light emitting elements can be continuously transmitted to the light receiving element.

In an X-ray CT (computerized tomographic) imaging system, a plurality of X-ray detectors, data acquisition circuitry and an image reconstruction unit are provided. The data acquisition circuitry includes a plurality of A/D converter units. The X-ray image signals derived from the plurality of X-ray detectors are A/D-converted by the corresponding ones of the A/D converter units into corresponding X-ray image data. Then, the X-ray image data obtained from the respective A/D converter units is sequentially transferred via a digital data bus to the image reconstruction unit.

A multi-channel type solid-state X-ray detector includes a base plate, multi-channel photodiodes arranged on the upper surface of the base plate and having one ends connected as output terminals to electrically conductive lines on the base plate, and a number of scintillators disposed on the photodiodes of respective channels, for generating scintillation light corresponding to incident X-rays when the X-rays are irradiated. Those end portions of the scintillators which lie on the other ends of the photodiodes are extended and a light emitting diode arranged in a flat plate configuration is disposed in contact with the underside of the extended portions on the upper surface of the base plate. The scintillators are shielded with respect to light on portions other than the underside which is in contact with the light emitting diode and photodiodes by reflective coating material or the like, and light from the light emitting diode is permitting to be projected into the entire portion of the scintillators. The light projection compensates for radiation damage of the scintillators and prevents the detection sensitivity of the scintillators from being lowered.

In computerized tomography apparatus having a radiation source and a detector, when the radiation source and the detector are rotated in a rotational direction, acquisition of computerized tomogram data takes place in accordance with a data acquiring direction. When the radiation source and the detector are rotated in a rotational direction opposite to the rotational direction, acquisition of the computerized tomogram data is also performed from a data acquiring direction opposite to the data acquisition direction, thereby agreeing with the position of imaginary source. The position of imaginary source is near a subject than that of the radiation source, so that a high resolution is obtained.

Method and system for acquiring computerized tomogram data

A compensating integrator includes an integrator and a compensating capacitor. During a compensating period, the capacitor is charged with a voltage related to an error component of an input signal to be integrated. Then during an integrating period, the input signal and the charge on the capacitor are applied to input terminals of opposite polarity of the integrator so that the effects of the error component are cancelled. The integrator is prevented from integrating during a compensating period.
