When encoding an audio signal, it is possible to efficiently encode the audio signal while maintaining high register signal components, and prevent deterioration of sound quality of decoded signal. A digital audio signal is divided into a plurality of frequency bands. The digital audio signal having been divided into each band is function-approximated for each divided band. Further, parameters of function having been function-approximated are encoded. When performing decoding process, parameters of the function of each band are used to perform function interpolation, synthesize the function-interpolated signal of each band interpolated, and decode the signal. Thus, when function-approximating each band, by suitably setting the function equation, it is possible to perform an encoding process while maintaining the high register components and perform a compression-coding process which enables reproduction with very good sound quality.

Audio signal compression and decoding using band division and polynomial approximation

There is provided a sound processing apparatus and a sound processing method which are capable of reproducing discrete data with a high-quality sound matching users' preferences. In a sound processing means, since an interpolation value reflecting a value of a variable parameter &#x3b1; by which the value of a control sampling function c(t) is multiplied can be calculated, an analog signal obtained through the interpolation performed in a sampling function s(t) can be regulated in accordance with the variable parameter &#x3b1; by changing the value of the variable parameter &#x3b1;. In this way, by allowing the user to appropriately change the variable parameter &#x3b1; in accordance with various conditions including music reproduction environments, sound sources, musical tones and so on, it becomes possible to reproduce high-quality-sound music in which its frequency characteristics of the analog signal have changed and a high quality desired by the user is obtained.

In order to reduce load supported by a support mechanism for supporting a movable part so as to prevent the movable part from moving in a horizontal direction when stress is generated thereon in the horizontal direction, there is provided a drive unit including a primary side having a magnetic body around which a coil is wound, and a secondary side having a plurality of permanent magnets, the primary side including magnetic poles and step portions provided on the magnetic poles. The width of each step portion is smaller than the width of each permanent magnet.

Linear drive unit reducing stress generated in movable part in horizontal direction

An electric rotating machine has a rotor, a stator and a casing. A planetary roller mechanism constituted by a sun roller, a planet roller, a ring roller and a carrier is provided within the rotor so as to transmit the driving force of the rotor to the outside from a power shaft. Oil is sealed within the rotor or the casing. The planetary roller mechanism may be provided within the casing or at the outside of the rotor and, in this case, oil is sealed within the casing.

Power supply equipment for a motor vehicle, includes a motor generator, an inverter for driving the motor generator, a battery and a capacitor of an electrical double layer, wherein the capacitor is directly connected to a DC side of the inverter and the battery is connected in parallel with the capacitor via a first switching unit. The control system also includes remaining capacity measuring means for measuring the remaining capacity of a battery. The control portion drives a predetermined power load when the engine is stopped or when a key switch is held OFF, and operation of the power load is stopped when a remaining capacity of the battery measured by the remaining capacity measuring means becomes smaller than a predetermined value.

Disclosed herewith a compact linear motor provided with a plurality of magnetic pole teeth and used to increase the thrust force by canceling a magnetic attractive force working between the primary member and the secondary member. The linear motor comprises a primary member and a secondary member. The primary member includes cores formed with a magnetic material and an electromagnetic coil wound on the cores while the secondary member supported so as to be capable of moving relatively with respect to the primary member with a gap therebetween. In the linear motor, the coil that is wound commonly on the cores is also disposed between adjacent magnetic pole teeth.

Power supply equipment for a motor vehicle, includes a motor generator, an inverter for driving the motor generator, a battery and a capacitor of an electrical double layer. A composite power transmission mechanism , comprising the combination of a planetary gear unit and a differential planetary gear mechanism wherein a planetary gear is connected with a drive shaft of a vehicle, while other three gears let the shafts of the motor a motor and an engine rotate respectively. The drive shaft of the vehicle is made to rotate by means of the planetary gear of the composite power transmission mechanism; since the rotation of different sources of a driving force, i.e., those of the motor the motor and the engine can be transmitted to one another by only one meshing of the gears, the mechanical loss that is dependent on the number of times of the meshing of the gears can be reduced to a minimum.
