An optical function device includes a base material layer, a semi-transparent layer formed on a principal plane of the base material layer, the semi-transparent layer reflecting light of incident light at a ratio determined in advance and passing remaining light; and a reflection prevention layer formed on a principal plane opposite to the principal plane of the base material layer with respect to the base material layer, the reflection prevention layer preventing reflection of the light passing through the base material layer. The image-capturing device includes an optical function device, a first light receiving device for receiving transmission light from the optical function device, and a second light receiving device for receiving reflection light from the optical function device.

A display device having an organic luminescent element arranged at an object image-forming position of a finder optical system. Frames are formed by parts of the negative electrode formed of non-transparent material, an organic electroluminescent material is laminated thereon on the eyepiece side, and a positive electrode formed of transparent material is superimposed thereon on the eyepiece side. Since the non-transparent negative electrodes shield the light, the frames are recognized as black frames. When the periphery is dark, a voltage is applied between the electrodes causing the organic electroluminescent material to luminesce, such that the frame itself becomes brighter in display and is readily visible.

A single-lens reflex camera comprises a taking lens having a zooming optical system, a finder whose angle of view is determined according to a focal length of the taking lens, and an operation member which is manually operated. In the single-lens reflex camera, the focal length of the taking lens is changed by driving the zooming optical system, and the zooming operation is controlled in response to an operation of the operation member so that the focal length of the taking lens is changed in the wide-angle direction by a predetermined amount. An angle of view corresponding to that which is seen before the focal length is changed is displayed within the finder.

A camera includes a manually operable member having a plurality of distance measuring areas and for switching between exposure correction and AF area and between single photographing and continuous photographing. A viewfinder of the camera displays not only an object but also the above-described respective functions displayed on a LCD and switchable by the manually operable member. As a result, a photographer is allowed to perform photographing while looking at not only the object but also the state of the various functions displayed on the LCD in the finder.

A camera has an electronic viewfinder for displaying an image of a subject to be photographed in accordance with image data from a scene. The displayed image encompasses an area larger than that of the scene to be photographed, to enable the camera user to view objects and events outside of the photographic frame. In addition, the image data can be processed in accordance with differing photographic conditions, such as changes in shutter speed, aperture or electronic flash emission, to permit the user to view the changes that occur under the differing conditions.

The liquid crystal display comprises transparent electrodes provided with a pattern indicating distance measuring areas and light measuring areas, a liquid crystal of a cholesteric-nematic phase transition type having a negative anistropic dielectric property as host, and a dichroic coloring matter having an anisotropic light absorption property as guest. The pattern having a high opacity is displayed on a transparent background in the viewfinder in a satisfactory contrast to the background.
