In the hydrogen supply device for producing and supplying hydrogen to a fuel cell, a heat exchange section has a rotary thermal storage through which low and high temperature passages pass. Reforming material is supplied to the low temperature fluid passage on an upstream side of the heat exchange section. A reforming section for producing reformed gas containing hydrogen is located at a downstream side of the low temperature fluid passage. A combustion gas supply section for generating and supplying a combustion gas is located in the high temperature fluid passage. The rotary thermal storage rotates to move alternately between the low and high temperature fluid passages so that heat of the combustion gas flowing in the high temperature fluid conduit is transferred to reforming material flowing in the low temperature fluid conduit. The low temperature fluid passage communicates with the high temperature fluid passage via the fuel cell.

Hydrogen supply device

In the hydrogen supply device for producing and supplying hydrogen to a fuel cell, a reforming section has a rotary thermal storage through which low and high temperature passages pass. Reforming material is supplied to the low temperature fluid passage on an upstream side of the first rotary thermal storage. A combustion gas supply section for generating and supplying a combustion gas is located in the high temperature fluid passage on a downstream side of the first rotary thermal storage. With the hydrogen supply device mentioned above, the first rotary thermal storage rotates to move alternately between the low and high temperature fluid passages so that, in the reforming section, the reforming material flowing in the low temperature fluid passage is catalytically reformed to a reformed gas containing hydrogen upon receiving combustion heat of the combustion gas flowing in the high temperature fluid conduit.

According to the present invention, a catalyst combustion apparatus includes a ring-shaped catalyst body for catalytically burning the mixture of the fuel and the air, which is disposed in a combustion cylinder. In the combustion cylinder, a fuel nozzle and an inlet for the air are disposed at one end side of the catalyst body, and the premixing chamber is formed at the other end side. The fuel and the air are supplied from one end side of the catalyst body through a through-hole formed at a center portion of the catalyst body and is mixed in the premixing chamber. In the premixing chamber, a flow direction of the mixture is turned toward the catalyst body. A part of the exhaust gas is introduced into the air at one end side. In this way, it is possible to simplify and downsize the combustion apparatus, while securing the preheating effect of the air by the circulation of the exhaust gas.

Catalyst combustion apparatus

To prevent a thermal medium from assuming a superheated state and to stably supply hot air for warming in an apparatus which performs warming by a combustion heater. A hot-water recirculation path connecting a hot-water heater core, water pump, cooler for a motor for running use and an inverter device, first switching valve, and combustion heater in a closed loop is provided. A temperature sensor is disposed at an intermediate location in the hot-water recirculation path. A heat-radiating passage having a second switching valve and radiator is connected to the hot-water recirculation path. During heating operation, an ECU closes the second switching valve and switches off a radiator fan when a detected temperature of the first temperature sensor is less than a set temperature for radiating heat, and opens the second switching valve and switches off the radiator fan when the detected temperature of the first temperature sensor is the set temperature for radiating heat or more.

Automotive air-conditioning apparatus with combustion heater

An air-conditioning apparatus for vehicle use which can obtain sufficient heater capacity even in a cold-climate region, can utilize an existing heater unit, can combine a combustion type heater with a simple assembly operation, and can utilize exhaust heat of a motor for travel use of an automobile for heating a passenger compartment. The air-conditioning apparatus includes a refrigeration cycle connecting a refrigerant compressor, a refrigerant/water heat exchanger, a first pressure-reducer, and an exterior heat exchanger in an annular configuration. Further, a hot-water cycle connects the refrigerant/water heat exchanger, a hot-water heater core, an exhaust-heat cooler, and a water pump in an annular configuration and connects a combustion type heater in parallel with the refrigerant/water heat exchanger. Accordingly, during heat-pump hot-water heating, hot water, with a temperature raised by refrigerant condensation by the refrigerant/water heat exchanger, circulates in the hot-water heater core so as to obtain a required heater capacity. During combustion heater hot-water heating, hot water, with a temperature raised by combustion fuel in the combustion type heater, circulates in the hot-water heater core so as to obtain sufficient heating capacity even in a cold-climate region.

Air-conditioning apparatus for vehicle use

A fluid dispersal device has a fluid inlet port, a nozzle, a fluid jet passage and an outlet throat provided in a housing and arranged from the upstream side thereof in order. The sidewalls defining the fluid jet passage are composed of deflection walls, turn walls and branch walls arranged in order from the upstream side thereof. The deflection walls are parallel walls symmetric with respect to the center line of said nozzle, each of the turn walls continues from the downstream end of each of the deflection walls and is formed into a rectangular concave wall, the distance between the opposed rectangular concave walls is larger than that between the deflection walls. The branch walls continue from the downstream ends of the turn walls and project in opposite directions. The outlet throat is defined by the oppositely projecting branch walls. The fluid jet jetted from the nozzle is rightward of leftward deflected due to the interaction between the fluid jet and the deflection walls. The deflection fluid jet is branched by the branch walls into two branch flows in accordance with the amount of deflection thereof. One branch flow is dispersed from the outlet throat while the other branch flow flows into one of the turn walls. The turn walls turn the branch flows and make them collide with the deflected fluid jet perpendicularly to push the deflected fluid jet in a direction opposite to the deflecting direction thereof. Thus, the fluid jet is periodically deflected and oscillated within the fluid jet passage and is dispersed from the outlet throat.

A window washer comprises a washer liquid jet nozzle provided under a windshield glass of a vehicle so as to be directed thereto for periodically deflecting the jetting direction of the washer liquid horizontally by the fluidic self-oscillating operation thereof, a pump provided in a washer liquid passage connecting the jet nozzle to a washer liquid tank for pressurizing the washer liquid and sending the pressurized washer liquid, a driving motor for driving the pump and a motor control circuit for applying a square pulse shaped voltage to the motor. The motor control circuit periodically operates the pump so that the discharge pressure thereof periodically changes. Consequently, the jetting direction of the washer liquid jetted from the jet nozzle is periodically deflected horizontally and vertically.

Air conditioning/heating apparatus for automobiles

An air heating apparatus comprises a auxillary PTC heating element in an air duct lying parallel to the length of the duct to define first and second air passages separated by the heating element. The PTC heating element has apertures through which passes air to be heated; the two air passages thereby communicating with each other by means of the apertures through the heating element. First and second valves are located at upstream and downstream ends of the first and second air passages for selectably closing and opening the upstream and downstream ends of the first and second air passages, respectively.

Dual air passage heating apparatus with ceramic heater element

An intake air throttling system for a diesel engine comprising an air intake passage. The system includes a throttling valve mounted in the air intake passage so as to selectively throttle air flow through it. This throttling valve can be positioned to at least a first position in which it substantially fully closes the air intake passage, a second position in which it partly throttles the air intake passage to a substantial extent but does not fully close it, and a third position in which it does not throttle the air intake passage to any substantial extent. The throttling valve is controlled by a control system, which positions it to the first position when the engine is being stopped, which positions it to the second position when the engine is being idled, and which positions it to the third position when the engine is being operated in non idling load bearing operational condition. Thereby, when the engine is being stopped, the cutoff of intake air reduces stopping vibration considerably, while when the engine is being idled the partial but substantial throttling of intake air reduces idling vibration and reduces wandering of engine idling speed; and both these effects are accomplished by the use of one throttling valve.

Three position diesel engine intake air throttling system

An electric heating apparatus for heating the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, such as an automobile, having an internal combustion engine driving an electric power generator for charging a battery supplying power to electrical equipment on the vehicle includes a control system permitting actuation of the apparatus only when the engine reaches a predetermined rotational speed above which the generator is able to generate power. The air-fuel mixture supplied to the engine is regulated by a rotational speed control means in accordance with a control signal produced by a control circuit responsive to a temperature sensor detecting that the engine temperature is below a predetermined level and a voltage sensor detecting that the voltage produced at the neutral terminal of the power generator is higher than a predetermined value to increase the rotational speed of the engine and thereby the power generated by the power generator. A power supply switch responsive to the control signal is energized to cause power to be supplied to the electric heating element of a warm air generator for supplying heat to the passenger compartment until such time as the engine temperature rises above the predetermined level, the detected voltage drops below the predetermined value or the system is manually turned off by operation of the ignition switch or a system operating switch. The control system prevents over-discharge of the vehicle battery.

An intake throttling device adapted to a Diesel engine includes an intake pipe for connection to an intake manifold of the engine, a throttle valve arranged within the intake pipe, and an actuator operatively connected to the throttle valve and arranged to be deactivated to fully open the throttle valve during normal operation of the engine, to be rendered in its first activated condition to adjust the opening angle of the throttle valve during idling operation of the engine, and to be rendered in its second activated condition to fully close the throttle valve when the engine is arrested or immediately before the engine is arrested.
