The invention provides an effective technique for appropriately restraining a vehicle occupant at the time of a side collision of a vehicle. An occupant restraint system mounted to a vehicle comprises a camera, a side impact sensor, an acceleration sensor, an ECU, and an airbag module. The ECU changes a threshold value setting for collision velocity at the time of a side collision of the vehicle according to whether or not a colliding object involved in the side collision of the vehicle is a pole-like object, and controls the airbag module based on the set threshold value.

Collision determination system, occupant restraint system, and vehicle

A side impact crash sensor that operates in conjunction with displacement of a door outer panel of a vehicle door in the event of a side impact crash. The side impact crash sensor comprises a sensor housing coupled to a vehicle door member in a sectioned region of the door and a pendulum rotates around a rotating shaft secured to the sensor housing in the event of a side impact crash. The pendulum is conductive and is housed in a housing space of the sensor housing. The side impact crash sensor further comprises a detecting section including a conductive coil energized by an alternating current secured to the sensor housing. The detecting section detects a rotation operation mode of the pendulum on the basis of a change in impedance of a conductive coil which occurs in conjunction with a rotation operation of the pendulum.

Side impact crash detection system

A seatbelt apparatus is provided which can constrain a passenger by ensuring removal of a slack of a lap belt when two pretensioners are activated under two different time frames. A pretensioner of a seatbelt retractor is activated first, and a shoulder belt and a lap belt are pulled in a direction toward the seatbelt retractor. Subsequently, a pretensioner of a belt anchor portion is activated and pulls a seatbelt toward the belt anchor portion, and hence a one-way tongue catches and locks the seatbelt. Accordingly, the shoulder belt is prevented from moving toward the lap belt through the tongue. Therefore, removal of the slack of the lap belt is ensured, and hence a lumber of the passenger is firmly fixed.

Seatbelt apparatus

An occupant restraint apparatus includes an anchor adapted to be fixed to a vehicle body, a lap belt having a tip side fixed to the anchor, and an inflatable portion formed at the tip side, an inflator for introducing gas from the tip side to inflate the inflatable portion, and a cover. The cover includes a first masking portion for covering the anchor, and a second masking portion formed separately from the first masking portion and attached to the first masking portion for covering at least the tip side of the lap belt.

Occupant restraint apparatus

A vehicle-occupant restraint system includes a base attached to a vehicle part, an anchor attached to the base swingably in a front-back direction of a vehicle, an inflator attached to the base or anchor, and a lap belt attached to the anchor at one end thereof and including an inflatable part connected to the inflator. A first cover is attached to the vehicle part and has an upper opening through which the lap belt passes to be connected to the anchor. A second cover covers the upper opening and a part of the lap belt. The second cover has an upper flange and a lower flange to define a space therebetween so that a marginal part of the upper opening is interposed therebetween. The space increases toward a front side of the second cover so that the second cover is swingable in the front-back direction.

Air belt apparatus

A vehicle-occupant restraint systemis provided in that gas of an inflator is introduced into a lap belt inflatable part from an end of the lap belt, and the installation of the end of the lap belt and the inflator to a vehicle side member is simplified. The vehicle-occupant restraint systemincludes webbingrouted along the front of an occupant sitting on a seat, an inflatable lap bagconstituting the front end portion of a lap belt portion of the webbing, an inflatorfor inflating the lap bag, an anchorfor attaching the front end of the lap bagto the vehicle side member, and a retractorfor retracting the rear end of the webbing. The front end of the lap bagis attached to a B pillarserving as the vehicle side member via the anchor, so that the installation of the lap belt onto the vehicle side member is simplified, reducing cost.

Occupant restraining apparatus

There is provided an airbelt system in which an inflator and an anchor are mounted to the seat base without using a flexible pipe and with a relatively simple structure. An anchor for connecting the webbing of the airbelt is rotatably supported on the outer surface of a side plate of a base frame of the seat with a plurality of arcshaped long holes and step bolts passed through the long holes. An inflator is disposed inside the side plate. The gas port of the inflator is substantially coaxial with the rotation axis center of the anchor.

Airbelt system

An inflator attaching structure is capable of firmly attaching an inflator to a seat member or the like. An inflator attaching structure includes an attaching clamp that is composed of a main plate connected to a seat frame, and a sub-plate attached to the main plate, and an inflator is sandwiched between the main plate and the sub-plate. When attaching the inflator to the attaching clamp, a hook portion of the sub-plate is hooked on a hook-portion hooking opening of the main plate, and thereafter the fastening portion and the base piece portion are fastened by a bolt upon situating the fastening portion of the sub-plate in parallel with the base piece portion of the main plate in a manner so as to sandwich the inflator between the main plate and the sub-plate.

Attaching structure for air belt inflator

The disclosed airbelt apparatus may provide an airbelt capable of being connected to an anchor. The airbelt apparatus may comprise an anchor and an airbelt with a bag and a mesh webbing covering the bag. The anchor may have an opening, wherein only a tip end side of a portion of the airbelt is inserted into the opening. The portion of the airbelt can be the mesh webbing only or a combination of the mesh webbing and a webbing. The portion of the airbelt inserted into the opening can be folded back so as to overlap onto a base end side of the airbelt, and the tip end side of the portion of the airbelt and the base end side of the airbelt are stitched together.

Airbelt apparatus

An occupant protection system is provided in which parts along the length of the airbag inflate substantially at the same time. The occupant protection system includes an airbag inflatable on a seat pan such that it pushes the front of a seat cushion upward and a gas generator for inflating the airbag. The airbag extends along the lateral width of the seat. The airbag includes a partition panel extending along the length of the airbag therein. In one form, the partition panel partitions the interior of the airbag into a first chamber and a second chamber which extend from one longitudinal end of the airbag to the other end. The gas generator is disposed in the first chamber. The partition panel has communication holes for communicating the first chamber with the second chamber.

Occupant protection system

An occupant protection device is provided which protects an occupant by inflating a seat bag and a lap bag. When a vehicle collision is detected, gas generators are activated and discharge gas. The gas from one of the gas generators inflates a tube. As a result, a front portion of a cushion pad of a seat cushion is pushed upward or hardened and the hips of the occupant are prevented from moving forward. A lap bag also inflates and restrains the hips of the occupant. In one form, a lap anchor inflates so that pretension is applied to a lap portion and the hips of the occupant are pushed downward. Therefore, the thighs and hips of the occupant are pushed between the lap portion and the front portion of the cushion pad which is pushed upward or hardened and are strongly restrained in the seat.

Occupant protection device

An inflator having at least first and second gas outputs and configured to generate gas. The inflator releases the gas through the first gas output with a fist gas flow rats and to release the gas through the second gas output with a second gas flow rate different from the first gas flow rate.
