Disclosed is a heat exchanger that can more efficiently transfer heat between a heat-exchange fluid and an object with which heat is to be exchanged. A heat exchanger () can transfer heat between a heat-exchange fluid flowing through flow paths (R) and a fluid with which heat is to be exchanged flowing through other flow paths (R) by means of the flow path structure member () (a first metal sheet () and a second metal sheet ()) in which the flow paths (Rand R) are formed. The flow paths (Rand R) are formed so that the side surfaces thereof are not straight and so that the depths thereof change along the flow direction.

Heat exchanger

A melt treatment apparatus is provided which obviates an increase in floorspace and in cost and has freedom from a danger of steam explosion and further can control melt discharging with reliability. The welt treatment apparatus 1 is constructed with a furnace body 8 for entry of a material 17 to be heated, a plasma torch 2 that generates a plasma arc 13 so as to melt the material, a melt discharge passage 3 arranged in the furnace body for discharging a hot melt 14 derived by melting the material with the use of the plasma torch, and cooling gas jet means 7 disposed in the melt discharge passage and jetting a cooling gas to cool the hot melt to thereby form a dam 12.

Melt treatment apparatus

The flow of waste gas is directed downwardly by means of a refractory guide chute so as to follow the down flow of molten slag at the downstream end of a slag outlet. Thus the sensible heat of the high-temperature waste gas forcedly heats the molten slag and the downstream end portion of the slag outlet. Consequently, it becomes less possible for the slag outlet to be choked up. When there are signs that the slag outlet is being choked up, the plasma torch is slightly tilted to the upstream end of the slag outlet so as to stabilize the discharge of the molten slag. A housing or jacket is disposed circumferentially around an incineration residue feed pipe, inserted through the incineration residue inlet, and adapted to allow an annular gas curtain to issue therefrom. Fuel injection against the waste gas in the furnace body is particularly suitable for decreasing the amount of NOx. Valuable matter is efficiently recovered from the waste gas without causing a waste gas channel in a waste gas purifying plant to be choked up with the particles of valuable matter. A device for detecting the leakage of cooling water caused by the deterioration of the plasma torch is also provided.
