An image forming apparatus includes a fixing roller, a heating section, a pressurizing roller, an oil roller, a first cleaning roller, and a control section. The pressurizing roller is pressed against the fixing roller. The oil roller abuts against the fixing roller and is capable of being rotated by rotation of the fixing roller to apply oil onto a surface of the fixing roller. The first cleaning roller abuts against the oil roller and is capable of being rotated by rotation of the oil roller to clean a surface of the oil roller. When the control section determines that the fixing roller and the pressurizing roller have performed fixing on a predetermined number and more of consecutive sheet surfaces, the control section carries out a first control process which causes the heating section to stop and the fixing roller to rotate for a first predetermined time period after the fixing.

A cleaning apparatus using a web sheet includes: a send-out roller that is wound with the web sheet; a take-up roller that is connected to an end of the web sheet; and a rotation-regulating and canceling portion that regulates rotation of the send-out roller and cancels the regulation according to tension of the web sheet between the send-out roller and the take-up roller; wherein the web sheet is sent out from the send-out roller and taken up by the take-up roller, the web sheet is brought into contact with another roller during the sending out and taking up operation, and extraneous matters that have adhered to the other roller are removed.

Cleaning apparatus using web sheet

When an image forming apparatus, after a feeding error of a recording material occurs in a fixing device, re-forms on the recording material an image corresponding to image data which image was formed on a sheet which caused the feeding error, an image forming condition is caused to be different from an operation condition used when the feeding error has occurred. This makes it possible to prevent a JAM corresponding to the same image from recurring in the fixing device.

Furthermore, in color mode, the endless heating belt is caused to contact the hot roller to make possible thermal conduction between the endless heating belt and the hot roller, and a surface temperature of the endless heating belt is adjusted within a prescribed range of 200&#xb0; C. to 210&#xb0; C. being higher than a fixing temperature of 180&#xb0; C. Further still, in monochrome mode, a length (or a surface area) of a heating contact region between the endless heating belt and the hot roller is set to a maximum to increase a thermal conduction efficiency between the endless heating belt and the hot roller, and a surface temperature of the endless heating belt is adjusted within a prescribed range of 210&#xb0; C. to 220&#xb0; C. being sufficiently higher than the fixing temperature of 180&#xb0; C.

In an embodiment of the present invention, a pressure application mechanism portion is provided with a pressure-varying link structure arranged so as to be movable in lateral directions along an upper end portion of a device frame, a drive shaft having an eccentric cam for moving the pressure-varying link structure in the lateral directions, a shaft holding structure arranged so as to be rotatable coupled to the pressure-varying link structure, and a coil spring for applying a biasing force to the shaft holding structure in one direction along the upper end portion of the device frame, and a rotational movement is carried out to make a pressure roller approach and move away from a heat roller so as to achieve a relatively low pressure during a color processing mode and a relatively high pressure during a monochrome processing mode.

A cleaning device includes a cleaning web, a supply roller, a take-up roller, and a control section. Positioned in contact with a circumferential surface of a fuser roller, the web removes toner particles on the circumferential surface. The supply roller has the web wound thereon. The take-up roller takes up the web withdrawn from the supply roller. The control section controls rotation of the take-up roller. The control section performs a first process of causing the take-up roller to take up a first length of the web each time a predetermined taking-up condition is satisfied. The control section also performs a second process, instead of the first process, of causing the take-up roller to take up a second length of the web each time after a first predetermined number of the first processes are performed.

An armored unit includes a side cover and a guide member. When sheet jam operation is carried out, a fixing unit is pulled out with the armored unit, and then is pushed to the rear side. This operation unlocks the lock member provided in the guide member, and a shoulder screw moves in a guide hole. Thus, the fixing unit is moved from the pulled out position toward the rear side and toward the main body of image forming device to be shifted to a receding position. A biasing member biases a threaded shaft of an operating device through the base plate such that a far end of the threaded shaft is directed toward a threaded hole formed in the bottom of the functional unit.
