A piezoelectric actuator may include a piezoelectric layer. The piezoelectric actuator may also include an electrode layer which is disposed on a surface of the piezoelectric layer. The piezoelectric actuator may further include a metal terminal which is disposed on the electrode layer, and configured as a contact point with respect to an external terminal. The piezoelectric actuator may yet further include a metal layer which is disposed between the piezoelectric layer and each of the metal terminal and the electrode layer.

Piezoelectric actuator, liquid discharge head, and method of manufacturing same

In a method of manufacturing a liquid discharge head, the liquid discharge head has a flow-path unit having a liquid flow path, and a piezoelectric actuator unit. The liquid flow path has discharge openings and corresponding pressure chambers. The actuator unit has actuators which apply pressure to liquid in the pressure chambers. The method includes positioning the actuator unit to oppose the surface of the flow-path unit while extending on the plurality of pressure chambers, forming a particular film that is impermeable to the liquid on a supporting member. The particular film is secured to the surface of the flow-path unit by placing the supporting member on the flow-path unit, and aligning the supporting member such that a surface of the particular film opposes the surface of the flow-path unit while the openings of the plurality of pressure chambers are covered.

Method of manufacturing liquid discharge head and liquid discharge head

A method of manufacturing a nozzle plate including: a step for forming the nozzle hole on a plate to become the nozzle plate; a first photocurable resin injection step for (i) coating with a photocurable resin a first surface of the plate and (ii) injecting the photocurable resin into an area inside the nozzle hole; a first curing step for applying light to the plate, so as to form a first cured resin part including a columnar part and an annular part; a first uncured resin removing step for removing an uncured portion of the photocurable resin; a base film formation step for forming a base film on the first surface; a cured resin removing step for removing the first cured resin part; and a water-repellent film formation step for coating with a water-repellent film a surface of the base film and a portion of the first surface of the plate exposed from the base film.

Method of manufacturing nozzle plate

A manufacturing method for a nozzle plate including a plurality of nozzle holes may include the step of forming a plurality of through-holes extending through a plate member in a thickness direction of the plate member. The manufacturing method may also include the step of forming a water repellant film in a region of one surface of the plate member where apertures of the through-holes are not positioned. The manufacturing method may further include the step of pressing individual regions on the one surface of the plate member, the individual regions respectively including the apertures of the through holes, to separate at least portions of the water repellant film formed in the individual regions from the water repellant film formed on the one surface.

Manufacturing method for a nozzle plate and a nozzle plate

There is provided a method for producing a nozzle plate of an inkjet head having a plurality of nozzles for ejecting ink. The method includes: preparing a nozzle plate base which has an electrical conductivity, the nozzle plate base including a nozzle plate, an outer frame surrounding the nozzle plate, and a plurality of connecting portions which connect the nozzle plate to the outer frame; forming the plurality of nozzles through the nozzle plate; dipping the nozzle plate base into an electrolytic solution; and energizing the outer frame of the nozzle plate base to plate the nozzle plate with a water repellent film. In this method, a gap formed between the nozzle plate and the outer frame is smaller than or equal to 10 mm.

Nozzle plate of inkjet head and method for producing the same

A method for producing a nozzle plate includes the following steps. A photocuring resin is applied onto a surface of a substrate that includes a nozzle while an ink ejection port of the nozzle being filled with the photocuring resin. Light is irradiated to the photocuring resin from a rear surface of the substrate through the nozzle to form a columnar cured portion. The columnar cured portion includes a head portion and a base portion. The head portion protrudes from the surface of the substrate and has an outer diameter equal to or smaller than an inner diameter of the ink election port. The base portion is disposed in the nozzle and has an outer diameter equal to the inner diameter of the ink ejection port. The photocuring resin except for the columnar cured portion is removed. A water-repellent film is formed on the surface of the substrate.

Methods for producing a nozzle plate and nozzle plate

An inkjet head which is provided with a nozzle plate that is covered with a water repellent film including a Ni-PTFE film, and a plurality of nozzles that are formed through the nozzle plate to eject ink. In this structure, the nozzle plate is subjected to a heat treatment after the Ni-PTFE film is formed on the nozzle plate, and then is subjected to water cooling. The water cooling is performed using cooling water having a temperature ranging from 15&#xb0; C. through 30&#xb0; C. after the heat treatment is finished.

Inkjet head, manufacturing method thereof and method of forming water repellent film

A process of manufacturing a nozzle plate for an ink-jet print head. The nozzle plate includes (a) a substrate having an outside surface which is to be opposed to a print media, an inside surface which is opposite to the outside surface and nozzle holes which are formed through the substrate so as to be open in the outside and inside surfaces, and (b) a non-wetting layer which has a non-wetting characteristic and which covers the outside surface of the substrate. The manufacturing process includes: (i) a masking step of applying a resist on the inside surface of the substrate, and charging the nozzle holes with the insulating material such that portions of the resist protrude outwardly from openings of the nozzle holes on the outside surface; (ii) a non-wetting-layer forming step of forming the non-wetting layer on the outside surface in a plating operation; and (iii) an unmasking step of removing the resist from the substrate.

Process of manufacturing nozzle plate for ink-jet print head

A magnet is integrally formed with a mirror surface for reflecting off a laser beam. A torsion spring holds the magnet thereon. The torsion spring is made of a shape-memory alloy. A coil generates an alternating magnetic field so as to oscillate the magnet about the torsion spring. The oscillating magnet scans the light beam.
