An image capturing apparatus that curbs an increase in size thereof while performing forced air cooling of a substrate includes a camera unit, a first unit configured to rotatably support the camera unit around an axis in a first direction, a second unit configured to rotatably support the first unit around an axis in a second direction, a first substrate configured to be fixed to the first unit, and a radiating unit configured to be fixed to the second unit and to allow heat generated by at least the first substrate to be dissipated to an outside of the image capturing apparatus, in which at least one inlet port and an exhaust port are formed in the heat dissipation unit, and the inlet port is configured to face the first unit and the exhaust port is disposed on a side surface of the second unit, in which the first unit has a base portion, a support portion configured to protrude toward the camera unit and formed on a first surface of the based portion, and at least one protrusion portion configured to protrude toward the second unit and formed on a second surface that is a surface on an opposite side to the first surface of the base portion.

An image pickup apparatus which is able to obtain images with high sharpness by improving circulation of air in the image pickup apparatus to prevent formation of condensation and frost on a cover, which protects a lens unit, while ensuring imperviousness to light. An illumination unit provided around a lens unit emits illumination light toward a subject through the cover placed on a subject side of the lens unit. An annular light-shielding member between the lens unit and the cover prevents the illumination light from reflecting on the cover to enter the lens unit and shields reflected light of the illumination light. The light-shielding member has a circulation path that enables circulation of air between a space on the subject side of the lens unit and on an inner peripheral side of the light-shielding member and a space on an outer peripheral side of the light-shielding member.

A thermal transfer recording method forms a pattern on a marking film, which is a plastic film containing a heat adhesive resin or a plastic film on which a heat-sensitive image-receiving layer, composed mainly of a heat adhesive resin, is formed. A thermal transfer ribbon is prepared by forming a heat-melting ink layer on one surface of a substrate and is used to form the pattern on the marking film. The above method permits the facile formation of a fine or complicated multi-color character or pattern on a marking film in a quick thermal transfer operation at a low cost.
