An information processing system comprises a plurality of systems (1, 3, 4, 6) communicating through a transmission path (2) and performing a processing base on their own function. One of the plurality of systems acts as as an supervising system having a supervising function. The supervising system (1, 4) sets a goal for each of the plurality of systems, collects the processing result on each system and evaluates the processing result; and on the basis of the processing result, the supervising system sets a new goal for each system considering a goal of the entire system comprising said plurality of systems.

In a control system equipped with a plurality of subsystems and a supervising subsystem for supervising these subsystems, a subgoal achievement performance is calculated by the subsystem using its own knowledge and its own condition with respect to a subgoal defined by the supervising subsystem, and the supervising subsystem controls a control system by utilizing the knowledge and conditions of the respective subsystems by applying a subgoal execution instruction to the subsystem based upon the calculation result. A method and an apparatus for controlling an object by giving commands to actuators that control the object to perform desired operations, wherein relationships between respective values of parameters of the model for the controlled object and the input/output states of the model are obtained by learning, the obtained relationships are stored in a memory unit as a result of the learning, parameter values of the model are decided by referring to the learning result stored in the memory unit based on the input/output measured values of the controlled object, and commands are obtained based on the decided parameter values and the obtained commands are given to the actuators.

A control system for controlling a plurality of control elements, which are effective to control of a given controlled system, is disclosed. In this control system, a characteristic value representing the characteristic of a given controlled system to be controlled is detected, and respective optimum manipulated variables of the plurality of control elements are derived on the basis of the detected characteristic value.
