A drive control apparatus for controlling the operation of an air conditioner comprises a 24-hour air-conditioning mode, a selector for selecting one of drive and release positions of the 24-hour air-conditioning mode, a load-responsive air-conditioning mode under which the air conditioner is operated in dependence on a load in a space to be air-conditioned, a drive control for effecting one of drive and stop controls of the load-responsive air-conditioning mode, and a preferential output unit for outputting a signal from the drive control in preference to an output signal from the selector. An output from the preferential output unit may be used to drive the operating frequency of the compressor at a predetermined number of revolution, to drive an indoor fan either continuously or intermittently at a predetermined number of revolution, and/or to deflect a vertical deflector blade to a predetermined position.

Air conditioner and a drive apparatus therefor

A method for controlling an air-conditioning apparatus in terms of execution of the defrosting mode. The apparatus basically includes a variable-frequency compressor, a room heat-exchanger for performing heat-exchange with a room fan, and an outdoor heat-exchanger provided at the outside of the room, which are circularly coupled to each other to establish a refrigerating cycle. Also included in the air conditioning apparatus are a bypass circuit provided between a first line for effecting a connection between an outlet side of the compressor and the room heat-exchanger and a second line for effecting a connection between an inlet side of the compressor and the outdoor heat-exchanger and a restriction device arranged to allow a change of its restriction amount and provided between the two heat-exchanger. The bypass circuit has an opening and closing valve for shutting off the bypass circuit. In response to start of a defrosting mode for defrosting the outdoor heat-exchanger, the restriction amount of the restriction device is controlled so as to be reduced as compared with that on the heating mode, the opening and closing valve is opened for establishing communication between the first and second lines, and further the compressor is controlled so that its operating frequency is increased stepwise up to a predetermined value desirable for the defrosting mode.

Defrosting control of air-conditioning apparatus

The present invention provides an air conditioner comprising, at a blowout port, a vertically deflecting vane and a group of the laterally deflecting vanes for respectively vertically and laterally deflecting the wind blown out from the blowout port. The group of the laterally deflecting vanes is partitioned with respect to the center of the blowout port into at least one rightwardly deflecting vane and at least one leftwardly deflecting vane, so that the rightwardly deflecting vane and the leftwardly deflecting vane can be individually operated. A drive means is controllably provided for individually driving the vertically deflecting vane and the group of laterally deflecting vanes, so that the wind blown out from said blowout port is changed in accordance with a temperature value to a mode in which the blowout wind is laterally split in a horizontal or upward direction, a mode in which it is concentrated in the horizontal or upward direction, a mode in which it is laterally split in a downward direction, and a mode in which it is concentrated in the downward direction.

Apparatus for deflecting the direction of the wind in an air conditioner

A method for controlling an air-conditioner wherein the blowing capacity of an indoor fan for supplying air, cooled by an indoor heat-exchanger forming a part of the refrigeration system, into a house room to cool the latter is irregularily switched over between strong and weak states so that a pleasing sensation of a breeze (i.e., a cold wind of an irregularily varying velocity) can be enjoyed by a dweller in the room.
