The present invention provides a highly functional polyethylene fiber exhibiting reduction of change in their physical properties in a wide range of temperatures for processing for products and in a wide range of temperatures for usage as products, thereby enabling improvement of dimensional stability. In addition, the present invention provides a highly functional polyethylene fiber exhibiting a high degree of dye exhaustion to be obtained in a simple dyeing operation, and excellent color fastness. The highly functional polyethylene fiber of the present invention is characterized in that an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] is higher than or equal to 0.8 dL/g, and not higher than 4.9 dL/g, ethylene is substantially contained as a repeating unit thereof, and a maximum thermal shrinkage stress is less than or equal to 0.4 cN/dtex in TMA (thermo-mechanical analysis), and a thermal shrinking percentage at 100&#xb0; C. is less than or equal to 2.5%.

Highly functional polyethylene fiber, and dyed highly functional polyethylene fiber

It is provided that a multifilament and a braid that are capable of being processed into products in a wide range of temperature and are excellent in dimensional stability and abrasion resistance. A multifilament comprising 5 or more monofilaments and a braid comprising the multifilament, wherein the multifilament contains polyethylene having an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of 5.0 dL/g or more and 40.0 dL/g or less and substantially including ethylene as a repeating unit, the monofilament has a titer of 3 dtex or more and 40 dtex or less, the multifilament has a thermal shrinkage of 0.20% or less at 70&#xb0; C. and a thermal shrinkage of 3.0% or less at 120&#xb0; C., and a stress Raman shift factor under the condition of applying a load that is 10% of a breaking load to the monofilament is 5.0 cmor less.

Multifilament and braid using same

It is provided that a multifilament and a braid that are capable of being processed into products in a wide range of temperature and are excellent in dimensional stability and abrasion resistance. A multifilament comprising 5 or more monofilaments, wherein the multifilament contains polyethylene having an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of 5.0 dL/g or more and 40.0 dL/g or less and substantially including ethylene as a repeating unit, and shows 1000 times or more in number of reciprocating abrasions at break in an abrasion resistance test measured at a load of 5 cN/dtex in accordance with JIS L-1095.

Multifilament and braid

It is provided that a multifilament and a braid that are capable of being processed into products in a wide range of temperature and are excellent in dimensional stability and abrasion resistance. A multifilament comprising 5 or more monofilaments, wherein the multifilament contains polyethylene having an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of 5.0 dL/g or more and 40.0 dL/g or less and substantially including ethylene as a repeating unit, and wherein a difference between a maximum value and a minimum value in a ratio of a diffraction peak intensity of orthorhombic crystal (200) plane to a diffraction peak intensity of orthorhombic crystal (110) plane in a monofilament cross section is 0.22 or less.

It is provided that a braid which has high dimensional stability even in long-term high temperature storage and which fluctuates little in physical properties with the lapse of time. And it is provided that fishing lines, nets, ropes, and protective covers, and bulletproof materials using the same. A braid comprising a polyethylene fiber or polyethylene tape which has an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of not less than 5.0 dL/g and not more than 30 dL/g and contains not less than 90% of ethylene as a repeating unit thereof, wherein a thermal shrinkage percentage is not less than 0.45% and not more than 8% under an environment of 80&#xb0; C. for 240 hours.

Braid

A polyethylene fiber characterized by having an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of 0.8 dL/g or more and less than 5 dL/g; being composed of a repeating unit substantially derived from ethylene; having pores formed inside of the fiber; having an average diameter of the pores of ranging from 3 nm to 1 &#x3bc;m when the diameter is measured, by each pore being approximated by a column, at a contact angle of 140 degrees, in a mercury intrusion method; a porosity of the pores of ranging from 1.5% to 20%; and having a tensile strength greater than or equal to 8 cN/dtex.

Highly functional polyethylene fibers, woven or knit fabric, and cut-resistant glove

The present invention provides a highly functional polyethylene fiber excellent in the cut resistance, has a high dimensional stability at about room temperature at which products are used, has a high shrinkage rate and stress, and excellent in forming processability when processed at a low temperature much less than a melting point of a polyethylene. And the present invention provides a highly functional polyethylene fiber excellent in processability at a low temperature, wherein an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] is higher than or equal to 0.8 dL/g, and is not higher than 4.9 dL/g, ethylene is substantially contained as a repeating unit, and a thermal stress at 40&#xb0; C. is lower than or equal to 0.05 cN/dtex, and a thermal stress at 70&#xb0; C. is higher than or equal to 0.05 cN/dtex, and is not higher than 0.25 cN/dtex. Further the present invention provides strings, ropes, woven/knitted textiles, and gloves thereof.

Highly functional polyethylene fiber excellent in forming processability

To provide a novel high strength polyethylene multifilament which consists of a plurality of filaments having high strengths and uniform internal structures, and showing a narrow variation in the strengths of the monofilaments, and which has been difficult to be provided by the conventional gel spinning method. A high strength polyethylene multifilament consisting of a plurality of filaments which are characterized in that the crystal size of monoclinic crystal is 9 nm or less; the stress Raman shift factor is &#x2212;5.0 cm/(cN/dTex) or more; the average strength is 20 CN/dTex or higher; the knot strength retention of each monofilament is 40% or higher; CV indicating a variation in the strengths of the monofilaments is 25% or lower; the elongation at break is from 2.5% inclusive to 6.0% inclusive; the fineness of each filament is 10 dTex or less; and the melting point of the filaments is 145&#xb0; C. or higher.
