An IP cover having a light-shielding property is detachably mounted on an IP. The IP includes a stimulable phosphor layer on one surface thereof. The IP cover is mounted on the stimulable phosphor layer so as to be closely attached to the stimulable phosphor layer. The IP and the IP cover include notches, and a part of an inspection target is inserted into the notches at the time of inspection. An IP unit is mounted on a blade welded portion of an impeller. Radiation is applied from a radiation irradiation device and a radiation image of the blade welded portion is recorded on the IP as a latent image. The IP cover is detached from the IP unit and the IP is set on a template. The IP is set at an image reading position of a radiation image reading device by the template, and the radiation image is read.

There is provided a cassette having: a flexible accommodating body that accommodates an accumulative fluorescent sheet in a light shielded state; an entrance/exit portion that is provided at one end portion of the flexible accommodating body, and through which the accumulative fluorescent sheet can be inserted and removed into and from the flexible accommodating body due to mounting to a radiographic image reading device; and opening/closing means for opening the flexible accommodating body such that a push-out member, that pushes the accumulative fluorescent sheet out toward the entrance/exit portion, can be inserted, or closing the flexible accommodating body in a light shielded state.

After prescan of a plurality of images on a photographic film, designation of an image to be processed and verification of the image to be processed, the photographic film is conveyed at high speed to a position where the reading conditions for the image to be processed can be set. When reading the image to be processed, the photographic film is conveyed at the same conveying speed as at the time of fine scan, and from the time point when the reading is complete, the high speed conveying of the photographic film is resumed and the photographic film is delivered. In a case where adjacent images are designated as the images to be processed, an operation similar to the one described above is performed until completion of reading the images to be processed, and then, the images to be processed are fine scanned after returning the photographic film to a position where the reading conditions for the images to be processed can be set.

Image reading apparatus and image reading method

A chart original in which two or more patterns are disposed so as to be separated at predetermined intervals and are symmetric with respect to a second imaginary line which is orthogonal to a first imaginary line. Each of the patterns is formed from a first line segment, which is orthogonal to the first imaginary line, and two second line segments, which are disposed at opposite positions with respect to the first line segment so as to intersect the first line segment. Prior to the image reading processing, a focusing point for each optical magnification that can be set for fine scan is stored. At the time of image reading processing, all images of a photographic film are prescanned after setting reading conditions for prescan, and image verification processing is executed after various setup processes. Thereafter, autofocusing processing is executed with a chart in a film carrier as an object, and then the photographic film begins to be conveyed in the reverse direction for fine scan processing. In cases where the optical magnification of an image next to be read is different from the present optical magnification at the time of fine scanning, the position of each portion is set based on the focusing points stored in advance.

An image reading apparatus is obtained which allows reading of an image in a short time and further allows setting of a focused state which is effective for warping caused in a main scan direction of an original to be read. Respective focusing positions in regions located in vicinities of both ends, in the main scan direction, of a main subject region in a film image on a photographic film, and in a region including the center of the film in the main scan direction are each detected as a virtual focusing position, and based on the detected virtual focusing positions, a final focusing position is determined.

A flow sensor detects a flow rate of cooling air from a compressor, and a determination is made as to whether or not the detected flow rate is abnormal. A determination is made by a diaphragm position sensor as to whether or not a diaphragm is located at such a critical position that a quantity of light illuminated onto a photographic film is large, possibly resulting in degeneration of a photographic film. A lamp is turned off if the diaphragm is located at the critical position and the flow rate of the cooling air is abnormal.
