A method of electrically connecting an element to wiring includes the steps of forming a conductive fixing member precursor layer at least on wiring provided on a base; and arranging an element having a connecting portion on the wiring such that the connecting portion contacts the conductive fixing member precursor layer, and then heating the conductive fixing member precursor layer to form a conductive fixing member latter, thereby fixing the connecting portion of the element to the wiring, with the conductive fixing member layer therebetween, wherein the conductive fixing member precursor layer is composed of a solution-tape conductive material.

A battery with a high battery voltage at charging and improved energy density is provided. A cathode () and an anode () are laminated with a separator () sandwiched therebetween which is impregnated with an electrolyte. The cathode () has a cathode active material including a lithium composite oxide which contains lithium, at least either cobalt or nickel, and oxygen. The battery voltage at charging is 4.25 V or more. The total amount of lithium carbonate and lithium sulphate in the cathode () to the cathode active material is 1.0 wt % or less, a concentration of protic impurities in the electrolyte, which is converted to a mass ratio of protons to the electrolyte, is 20 ppm or less, or moisture content in the electrolyte is 20 ppm mass ratio or less to the electrolyte. This inhibits metal eluting from the lithium composite oxide even at high voltages.

A solid electrolyte battery includes a battery element in which a cathode having a cathode composite mixture layer formed by applying a cathode composite mixture on a cathode current collector so as to provide a part to which the cathode composite mixture is not applied at an end part in the longitudinal direction of the cathode current collector and an anode having an anode composite mixture layer formed by applying an anode composite mixture on an anode current collector so as to provide a part to which the anode composite mixture is not applied at an end part in the longitudinal direction of the anode current collector are laminated so as to provide a solid electrolyte layer between the cathode and the anode. Porous members made of ceramics or non-woven fabrics are arranged between the longitudinal end parts of the cathode composite mixture layer and the longitudinal end parts of the anode composite mixture layer to extend to the parts of the cathode current collector to which the cathode composite mixture is not applied. Thus, a short-circuit in the end parts of the cathode composite mixture layer is prevented and yield upon manufacturing the solid electrolyte battery is improved.
