The copper alloy of the present invention contains 5% by mass to 25% by mass of Ni, 5% by mass to 10% by mass of Sn, 0.005% by mass to 0.5% by mass of element A (element A being at least one selected from the group consisting of Nb, Zr and Ti), and 0.005% by mass or more of carbon. In the copper alloy, the mole ratio of the carbon to the element A is 10.0 or less. The copper alloy may further contain 0.01% by mass to 1% by mass of Mn. In this copper alloy, the element A may be present as carbide.

The present invention aims at providing bronze alloy for a musical instrument that has high strength and processability and is provided with excellent acoustic characteristics by addition of Zr. The bronze alloy for a musical instrument according to the present invention has a component composition that contains 18% by mass to 26% by mass of Sn, 0.0005% by mass to 0.25% by mass of Zr, and a remainder consisting of Cu and inevitable impurities. Bronze alloy for a musical instrument having high strength and processability is obtained by setting the component composition as described above. Furthermore, from the frequency analysis result shown in FIG.A, in Example 13, higher harmonic components increase and low frequency waves also increase as compared with Comparative Example 2, and it is known that the enhancement of sound qualities such as complexity of beat sounds, profound feeling, and audibility is obtained.

Provided is a method for producing a zinc alloy capable of obtaining a Zn&#x2014;Si alloy having a uniform composition. Metal Zn is melted in a crucible () provided in a heating furnace () to obtain a Zn molten metal (). Floating of a metal Si powder () added to the Zn molten metal () is suppressed by a floating suppressing member (). Heating is performed while a liquid surface of the Zn molten metal () is coated with a carbonaceous material (), thereby melting the metal Si powder (). The suppression of the floating of the metal Si powder () is released to allow the melted Si to be dispersed in the Zn molten metal (), thereby obtaining a Zn&#x2014;Si alloy molten metal (). A copper casting mold () is filled with the Zn&#x2014;Si alloy molten metal (), and is rapidly cooled down to obtain a billet.
