Female terminal fittings () crimped into connection with ends of wires (W) are accommodated in a female housing (). The wires (W) drawn out from the female housing () are surrounded by a corrugate tube (). The corrugate tube () is fixed to the female housing () via a cover (). The cover () has a main body () and a lid () that can open and close the main body (). The main body () and the lid () have rubber plates () to hold wires (W) resiliently therebetween as the lid () is closed.

Fixing member and a connector

A female terminal fitting has a wall member which is not weakened as a result of cutting away bending regulating members therefrom, these bending regulating members preventing the excessive bending of a resilient contacting member. Anterior and posterior bending regulating members F and R are formed by cutting away a portion of a fitting member . These bending regulating members F and R prevent a resilient contacting member firm bending excessively. The anterior bending regulating members R are formed on a base wall , and the posterior bending regulating members F are formed on side walls . These bending regulating members F and R are formed on differing walls. Consequently, compared to the case where both bending regulating members F and R are formed on a single wall, the opening area formed by cutting away the bending regulating members is smaller on each wall, and accordingly the strength of the walls is maintained.

Female terminal fitting

A watertight connector is provided to prevent a bulging portion of a waterproof member from being pushed radially inwardly by the leading end of a mating housing. The connector has a male housing ( ) with an engaging space ( ) in which a skirt ( ) of a female housing ( ) can be accommodated. A bottom portion ( A) of the engaging space ( ) has its radially outward portion deepened backwardly to form a recess ( ). A projection ( ) formed on a seal ring ( ) is fitted in and held by the recess ( ). Thus, a force of a slanted surface ( B) formed at a leading end ( A) of the skirt ( ) to push a bulging portion ( ) away radially inwardly is restricted by the presence of the recess ( ), to prevent the bulging portion being pushed radially inwardly. This can securely prevent shaking of the housings ( ) in their connected state and fine sliding abrasion between the terminal fittings ( ).

Watertight connector, a connector housing and a waterproof member therefor

A male housing ( ) has a receptacle ( ) that surrounds a tower ( ) provided with cavities ( ). A retainer ( ) is mounted on the front of the tower ( ). The bottom surface of the retainer ( ) has a longitudinal groove ( ) with a catch surface ( ), and a jig insertion groove ( ) is formed in a bulging portion ( ) at the bottom end of the rear surface of the retainer ( ). An upwardly sloped guide surface ( ) is formed in the bottom surface of the receptacle ( ) and aligns with the jig insertion groove ( ). A jig ( ) having a hook ( ) at one end is provided to detach the retainer ( ). The hook ( ) of the jig ( ) is inserted through the jig insertion groove ( ) and moves up along the guide surface ( ) to enter the longitudinal groove ( ) and face the catch surface ( ). The jig ( ) then is pulled back to detach the retainer ( ).

Connector and a method for detaching housings thereof

A female terminal fitting is provided to prevent a waterproof rubber plug from being damaged. The female terminal fitting has an opening,formed in the leading end of a box-shaped main portion,having angular portions at its four corners. Side wall extending pieces,and an upper wall extending piece,extending forward from side walls,and a ceiling plate,are turned inside at the opening,Thus rounded side edges,and an upper edge of the opening,are formed by the turned portions of the extending pieces,Since the extending pieces,are turned not at their bottom ends, but at their intermediate positions, four corner portions,at the leading ends of the angular portions,are retracted.

Female terminal fitting and a female connector

An electric wire 10 is provided with a shielding layer 12 inside an outer sheath 11, three insulated wires 13 being provided therein. A correcting ring 46 is inserted between the outer sheath 11 and the shielding layer 12 of the electric wire 10, correcting the outer sheath 11 into a circular shape. A waterproofing ring 39 is attached tightly to an outer peripheral face of the outer sheath 11. In this way, even in the case where the shape of the outer sheath 11 of the electric wire 10 provided with a plurality of insulated wire cores 13 tends to be unstable, the electric wire 10 can be maintained in a specified shape by the correcting ring 46. Consequently the waterproofing ring 39 can fit stably and tightly to the outer peripheral face of the electric wire 10, thereby improving the waterproofing function.
