Systems that detect a positional relationship between an informal processing device and an external keyboard are disclosed. A system includes an external keyboard including a first communication unit, an incoming coil disposed inside thereof, and an input controller configured to control the first communication unit to transmit operating information indicating an input operation from a user, information processing device including a second communication unit configured to communicate with the first communication unit, a planar portion on which the keyboard is mountable, and a feeding coil disposed below the planar portion, the feeding coil configured to supply electricity to the incoming coil by an electromagnetically induced coupling, and a position detector configured to detect a positional relationship between the planar portion and the keyboard based on a coupling strength of the electromagnetically induced coupling between the feeding coil and the incoming coil. Similar apparatus and methods are also provided.

Detecting a positional relationship between an information processing device and an external keyboard

An electronic privacy apparatus, for selectively blocking transmission of data from a camera, includes a camera, a first processor, a switch, and a second processor. The first processor is connected to the camera and receives image data from the camera. The switch is connected to the first processor. The second processor is configured to execute an operating system. The first processor implements a transmission state where the first processor transmits the image data to the second processor. The first processor also implements a privacy state where the first processor transmits blank data to the second processor. Based on user input, the switch selects either the transmission state or the privacy state and transmits a signal to the first processor indicating the user input.

An apparatus for video signal switching for use with an external graphics processing unit device includes an input unit of an information processing device configured to input a first video signal from an external device comprising a graphics processing unit ('GPU') and an input/output interface, a processing unit of the information processing device configured to output a second video signal, and a switching unit configured to determine a route for a video display signal that is output to a display unit, the route selected from an external route along which the first video signal is output to the display unit without going through the processing unit and an internal route along which the second video signal is output to the display unit. Dual screen device having power state indicators

Devices, systems and methods for enabling voice access to a portable electronic device in a closed physical configuration with biometric authentication are disclosed. A device can have multiple physical configurations, including a closed configuration in which a display and/or user interface is not accessible. A biometric sensor disposed on an outer surface of the device in at least the closed configuration can be used to enable access to the device or secure functions of the device, via a voice engine or the like, even though the device is physically closed. In some embodiments, unsecure functions can be accessed via voice engine without use of the biometric sensor when the device is closed.

A technique for establishing a network interface and an external interface in a connector is disclosed. A personal computer (PC) includes a device controller for controlling data transmission with a peripheral device and a network device, and a receptacle including multiple pins for connecting data channels of the device controller to the peripheral device through the external interface and the network device through the network interface. The PC further includes a crossbar switch for switching the data channels to establish the external interface and the network interface in the receptacle. The external interface complies with the USB standards, and the network interface complies with the Ethernet standards.

Techniques for establishing an external interface and a network interface within a connector

A mobile terminal device is connected to a network using a packet routing function of another mobile terminal device. Communication between respective mobile terminal devices can be performed in each of a plurality of tethering connection systems. When performing tethering communication, a mobile terminal device having tethering function becomes a master device and a mobile terminal device having no tethering function becomes a slave device. When both mobile terminal devices have tethering function, one mobile terminal devices becomes the master device and the other becomes the slave device. Before starting the tethering communication, state information for calculating an expected battery operating time of each mobile terminal device is acquired. A tethering connection system and a master-slave relationship are selected to maximize the expected operating time based on the remaining battery level and the expected power consumption of each mobile terminal device when starting the tethering communication.

An energization range of a laptop PC is controlled for safety component replacement. An EC can communicate with a battery unit to control a FET of the battery unit. In a power-off state, a PWC receives electricity from the battery unit or an AC/DC adapter. In the power-off state, a system of the EC stops. When a housing cover of the laptop PC is opened, a cover switch turns ON. When a logic circuit detects the operation of the cover switch, the PWC controls a DC/DC converter group to activate the system. The EC receiving electricity turns the FET OFF. Then the PWC turns the FET OFF.

Controlling energizing range of mobile electronic device

Reducing standby power of an information apparatus is described. In one aspect, a laptop PC is equipped with an Ethernet controller. The laptop PC operates in an intermittent manner and a DC/DC converter supplies power to the Ethernet controller. The laptop PC determines whether the Ethernet controller is connected to a network by a cable in a time Twake during which the converter is on. When it is determined that the Ethernet controller is connected, the laptop PC maintains operation of the DC/DC converter until the Ethernet controller is disconnected. When it is determined that the Ethernet controller is not connected, the laptop PC stops operation of the DC/DC converter during a time Tsleep and resumes the operation thereof when a setting time by a timer elapses. The DC/DC converter supplies power to the Ethernet controller when it is actually connected to the network. Other aspects are described.

A folding electronic device is disclosed. The folding electronic device includes a first flexible display, a second flexible display, a hinge mechanism and an image data generation unit. The first flexible display, which includes a first pixel matrix disposed at a first primary flat part and at a first bending part, enables a user to observe light beams emitted from the first primary flat part and the first bending part that bends to define a first inner side face in a front view direction. The second flexible display, which includes a second pixel matrix disposed at a second primary flat part and a second bending part, enables said user to observe light beams emitted from the second primary flat part and the second bending part that bends to define a second inner side face in the front view direction. The first flexible display is connected to the second flexible display via the hinge mechanism. The image data generation unit generates image data on display regions of the first pixel matrix and the second pixel matrix.

Folding electronic device

A method for controlling power in a computer system having a network device and a wakeup function is disclosed. A determination is made whether or not the network device is in an associated state at the time when the computer system moves into a power saving mode. In response to a determination that the network device is not in the associated state, power supply is turned off from a power source to the network device. In response to a determination that the network device is in the associated state, power supply is continually provided from the power source to the network device.

Method for controlling power on a computer system having a network device and a wakeup function

A wireless charging system may auto-position an electronic device for charging. A docking station may include a transmission source providing wireless charging to the electronic device when the device is moved into charging range by motion elements configured to move the electronic device along one or more docking surfaces of the docking station. In some embodiments, position sensors may detect the presence and location of the electronic device. A control unit may operate the motion elements to move the electronic device toward the charging area.
