The present invention relates to a device for displaying a set of data in a space in a manner appropriate for the data while the data are being classified and arranged encounters a problem of requiring a large amount of computation and difficulty in observing results. In relation to a set of data to be expressed in the form of a matrix, a smaller volume of data pertaining to rows or columns are arranged in a space by means of a self-organizing method. The remaining data are arranged through use of only a result of arrangement. Classification and arrangement of data can be performed with a smaller amount of computation. Data pertaining to rows or columns can be utilized by displaying data pertaining to both rows and columns. Hence, a more understandable result can be obtained.

Device and method for automatically classifying documents using vector analysis

A method and system for generating a set of parameters for use in determining whether a given document belongs to a specified one of a plurality of predetermined categories. An evaluation sample selection screen enables an operator to interactively enter various command parameters for selecting documents for which the calculated membership scores are to be evaluated. In response to an input of one of the command parameters, information useful for the selection of documents is visually presented to the operator. An evaluation value input screen shows selected documents and permits the operator to enter an evaluation value to each of the displayed selected documents. The entered evaluation values are reflected to the reference vector of the specified category.

Text classifying parameter generator and a text classifier using the generated parameter

Full text data is divided into words to generate word separation data. All character strings are extracted from the full text data, each character string including N characters. The word separation and position data is attached to each character string to generate index data. In word retrieving, character and segmentation agreement between query data and all character strings is checked. Word retrieving and/or character string retrieving are effected according to a selection command. The word separation data may include leading or trailing end data. In the word retrieving mode, the leading end of the first character and the trailing end of the last character are checked but the intermediate portion is not checked. Continuity of retrieve character strings is checked with reference to position data thereof. The word retrieving mode includes a number of modes including the completion agreement mode. A non-target word in retrieving is detected according to a word class and the word separation data is not attached to the non-target word. The word separation data is not attached to words of the affix. Sets of full text data are retrieved and the matching degrees are detected and the sets of full text data are ordered to provide various text agreement. The matching degree is also calculated with an operator.

Method of retrieving no word separation text data and a data retrieving apparatus therefor

A plurality of motive-procedure sets respectively composed of a motive, a condition and a procedure of a message processing edited according to user's intention are stored in advance for each user. When a message sent for a receiver is received in a message switching apparatus, it is judged whether or not one of the motives corresponding to a plurality of motive-procedure sets for the receiver is fired. When a particular motive is fired, a particular message processing of a particular motive-procedure set corresponding to the particular motive is performed in cases where a particular condition of the particular motive-procedure set is satisfied, so that an incoming call of the message is notified to the receiver or the message is transmitted or forwarded to the receiver according to the particular message processing. Accordingly, even though a user does not have a knowledge of a computer or a message processing apparatus, any message sent for the user can be automatically processed in the message processing apparatus according to user's intention.

Message switching apparatus for processing message according to message processing procedure

A plurality of boxes are provided in a memory region of the system. Each message is registered and stored in a designated box and fetched from this box. Each box is owned by a user so that a message addressed to this user is stored in his/her box. Predetermined preprocessing and/or postprocessing are executed before and after the message is registered into or fetched from the designated box.

In a facsimile server or a sound server, a data conversion portion and a computer interface are further provided to provide data serving by converting the data from or into the data base in the server into the data matching to the terminal under serving. A facsimile and sound server, coupled to a network, having a data base, further comprises an electronic mail analyzing portion and an electronic mail transmission and receiving portion, so that the electronic mail can be stored in or read from the data base. Moreover, a data conversion portion may be further provided to the facsimile and sound server, so that formats of various types of data may be converted to have formats matched to the types of the terminal requesting the data. Further a notice data setting portion may be further provided, so that a notice of data or a sound guidance from the facsimile and sound server can be controlled remotely by the electronic mail or a command from a telephone terminal.
